Conference of American Armies : countering threat networks.

    No full text
The Conference of American Armies (CAA) is a military organization made up and led by armies from the American continents with the authorization of their respective countries. Currently, there are 22 member armies, including: Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad & Tobago, United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Additionally, there are four observer armies, including: Belize, Guyana, Suriname, and Spain. The purpose of this event was to fulfill the overall goals approved by the CAA Army Commanders during the CAA Commanders Conference hosted by General (GEN) Mark A. Milley, U.S. Army Chief of Staff, in Washington D.C., in November 2017, which included: Conduct a realistic threat assessment to determine how the CAA member armies can provide military support to civil authorities to confront transregional, transnational threat networks (drug trafficking, terrorism, transnational organized crime, arms trafficking, and human trafficking). Share tactics, techniques, and procedures in operations, training, and exercises to strengthen leadership, readiness, and interoperability among military and civilian security forces in the region

Commanders guide for driving change : the learning organization framework.

    No full text
Is your unit consistently focused one or two echelons below, with fast approaching training events, missions, and 50 meter targets, without much consideration for sharing observations and lessons upon completion of events? If so, you are not alone- this is a common pitfall of our busy profession; however, it is a resolvable issue given a relevant Learning Organization Framework. Highly developed learning organizations place emphasis on long-term problem solving, consistently modifying behavior, and sharing observations and lessons across the Army enterprise. To address the challenges of becoming a learning organization, leaders apply foresight, insight, and the education and training space required to create the conditions for learning. To effectively learn and ultimately solve problems, a process for developing, observing, capturing, sharing, and modifying lessons can be integrated into training and mission plans

It is my pleasure to introduce myself [COL Christopher J. Keller] to the larger CALL audience with this edition of the CALL Insider. Since coming on board in August, I have been learning something new every day about the good work being done in house and by those of you in the field who share your observations, lessons, and products with us. Keep those coming! With a new face also comes a new look for our newsletter and social media sites. This update illustrates our commitment to optimizing for multi-domain/large-scale combat operations (MD/LSCO) and multinational interoperability. Next year’s Defender Europe exercise will test that commitment, and CALL will be there to document those lessons for the Army. Also, as the Army continues to modernize critical core capabilities to compete against near-peer adversaries, CALL is finalizing its initial MD/LSCO report on the gaps and challenges to field sufficient, capable forces to compete and win in this environment. This collective function will ensure CALL is postured to address the needs of the Army today and into the future. I look forward to working with many of you in the coming months and continuing the important work of this organization
