Allied intelligence in World War II.
The purpose of this document is to survey and analyze intelligence operations of World War II. The thought was that the document would fulfill the needs of the Strategic Intelligence School for a general instructional text and would fulfill the requirement for a comprehensive history of strategic and high-level tactical intelligence organization and operations for general military use. Contents include: over-all Allied Intelligence Program; Military Intelligence Division, WDGS; intelligence and Pearl Harbor; Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Force; 12th Army Group; U.S forces in European Theater; Allied Force Headquarters; South Pacific and Southwest Pacific areas; Far East Command – Supreme Commander Allied Powers; Pacific Ocean areas; Southeast Asia Command; and China Theater. Army Service Forces report no. 24 – destroyed bridges.
The following information concerning the bridges in the vicinity of Laval, France is of engineer interest. The bridge condition there is typical of that which existed in western and central France after the break-through in Normandy
Construction of a German field army.
M.I.D., W.D. Special Bulletin no. 8, July 18, 1940. Army High Command army orders numbers 10-12. During the battle of Flanders, a number of combat orders of the German Sixth Army (von Reichenau) were captured. Copies of these orders which have reached the War Department are of interest as showing the technique of the preparation of German field orders, as well as certain of their combat methods. One of these, Army orders no. 11 of May 23, contains an annex which gives in detail the order of battle of the Sixth Army as of that date

The history of the Army Ground Forces as a command was prepared during the course of the war and completed immediately thereafter. The studies prepared in Headquarters, Army Ground Forces, were written by professional historians, three of whom served as commissioned officer and one as a civilian. The histories of the subordinate commands were prepared by historical officers, who except in Second Army, acted as such in addition to other duties
