National Training Center Operations Group: fire support handbook "train the force."
There is no question that fires will be one key to success when it comes to facing a near-peer threat on the battlefield. That is what we have been training for at the NTC. The fires observer coach/trainers (OC/Ts) here at the NTC have been committed to ensuring brigade combat teams optimize fires within their formation. This publication is a compilation of products used over the last couple of years to sustain/increase fire superiority over potential enemies. Although not all units are able to train at the NTC, we offer this publication to embrace the fires warfighting function to prepare for the reality of combat

1st Infantry Division (Forward), Desert Shield/Storm after action report: background papers.
The papers contained in this volume were prepared by 1st Infantry Division (Forward) officers shortly after returning from Saudi Arabia and the mission of assisting the debarkation and onward movement of VII Corps. These background papers provided the basis for the overview report of that operation, VII Corps Debarkation and Onward Movement (HQ, 1st ID (F), 30 May 91). Each paper is intended to provide an in-depth history and analysis of a key aspect of this phase of the deployment. They also include extensive data in order to support those who may wish to conduct future study or analysis without going to the archival records which were given to the VII Corps historian. In the event of differences between these papers and the overview report, the latter, which provides greater synthesis and was reviewed by higher and parallel headquarters before release, is authoritative. Annexes include content on airflow-seaflow, port operations, reception, ground transportation management, force protection, safety, training support, and photographs

This threat requires that planning provide for reducing the probability and minimizing the effects of damage, and be prepared to effect recovery operations immediately, should the necessity arise
News from the Combat Training Centers: The battalion S-1 section in large-scale combat operations.
The ability to overcome challenges and accomplish any mission remains a hallmark of the American Soldier. To instill this mindset, Soldiers and leaders have streamlined processes to account for conditions associated with large-scale combat operations (LSCO). For the battalion S-1 section, this happens typically from the comfort of the office in the form of personnel actions, finance actions, customer service, strength management, etc., focusing on the shop and working close to counterparts. However, when operating in a combat environment, S-1 personnel are challenged to adapt their processes. To overcome these challenges, leaders should consider doctrine, integrate S-1 personnel into planning, thoughtfully position personnel and equipment to optimize operations, and properly integrate with other warfighting functions
