'44; Caption 3: Banana Tree and Taro. The taro has roots similar to sweet potato, and is here groing in water - with the big thick green leaves. This picture was taken on a steep hill which was irrigated - the water about 6-8 inches deep, but always flowing fast. -- St. Vincent, New Caledonia, Jan.
