    Newspaper clipping attached to a telegram-type mailing document sent from Sir Alfred T. Davies to William Gorham Rice. The news article describes a lecture given by William Wooding Starmer at the Albert Hall Nottingham proposing a bell tower with 47 bell carillon be built as a war memorial in Nottingham, England. Handwritten on the front including the sender's information, the date, and the words "The Times. June 1920" in ink and the word "Taylor?" in pencil. On the back written in ink is the recipient's contact information and stamp marks from the Board of Education and postage cancellation. The postage stamp has been removed

    This booklet "La bataille des cloches" (battle of the bells) is an excerpted article from the July 1949 issue of the Revue Generale Belge (Belgian General Review). It provides an overall history on the confiscation of bells throughout Europe with details on Belgium bells damaged or stolen by Nazi Germany during the occupation of Belgium.
