Jo Davis at Harrington House
No full textOwner Jo Davis sits at a table in the dining room at Harrington House Bed & Breakfast. Located at 5626 Gulf Dr. in Holmes Beach, the 8-room inn was opened by Jo and Frank Davis in 1989. It was named after Frank Davis's father, Harrington. The building was built in 1925 and served as a family mansion. In 2020, the Davis family closed Harrington House as a bed and breakfast and converted it back to a personal residence
Sign and Patio at Cafe on the Beach
No full textA view of the patio, window, and sign at Café on the Beach, located at 4000 Gulf Drive on Anna Maria Island. The patio and restaurant look out onto the Manatee Public Beach. Café on the Beach was formerly known as Hobby's Café, run by Dick Hobson. This café and a concession stand at Coquina Beach were then turned over to P.S. Beach Associates in 1992. Co-owners Lorna Percifield and Gene Schaefer were awarded the contract to run these two beach concessions by the Manatee County Commission. Despite some trouble with paying rent to the county in 1998, they continued to run the spot until 2003 when it was taken over by Tom Vayias and John Menihtas. In July 2010 Café on the Beach changed management once again to United Park Services of Tampa and they renamed it Anna Maria Island Beach Café. The county-owned restaurant remains open today
Ivey Professional Building and Anderson-Finkham Building
No full textA view of the Ivey Professional Building at 435 12th St W (Old Main Street). The location was home for many years to the Ivey Auto Parts Company before being converted into office spaces. Today, the Ivey Building houses law offices. Next to the Ivey building is the 1901 Anderson-Finkham Building. The Anderson-Finkham building was originally a smaller structure than pictured here. In 1911, it was purchased by the Reasoner family and an addition was built on the south side of the building, called the Juplinor Hotel. Today the building has been resurfaced with a Mediterranean style and is home to offices and the O'Bricks Irish Pub and Martini Bar
