A Model for Enhancing Green ICT through Alignment of Personnel Capacity and Workplace Readiness in Kenya
he global society is facing challenges in improving environmental performance especially\ud
climate change and sustainable resource utilization. Though ICT is contributing to the\ud
economy associated with innovations, inventions and rapid development in almost all\ud
aspects of human life, it is also responsible for climatic degradation. The rapid increase of\ud
ICT usage means more costs of doing businesses, energy consumption, and more\ud
environmental challenges. The rapidly changing technology reaching Kenya and lack of their\ud
understanding has put a lot of pressure on both management and ICT personnel to\ud
implement them on a trial and error manner. This has limited the gains meant to be\ud
obtained from green ICT despite its technologies availability. The lack of personnel capacity\ud
readiness, the workplace readiness for green ICT and their appropriate alignment between\ud
them poses environmental and unsustainable resource utilization challenges than the\ud
reaping of green ICT benefits. The study was informed by the G-readiness model. This study\ud
purposed to determine how to enhance green ICT through the alignment of personnel\ud
capacities and workplace G-readiness in Kenya. This was achieved by establishing the\ud
pervasiveness of green ICT awareness among ICT personnel, determining the perceived\ud
barriers to green ICT implementation, and assessing the workplace environment’s G-\ud
readiness in Kenya and modeling how to enhance green ICT implementation based on the\ud
study findings. The study was undertaken using the interpretive, inductive multi-case study\ud
methodology on a population of four data centres and 116 ICT managerial, technical and\ud
user personnel that were purposively sampled. Interview, observation, questionnaire and\ud
document analysis methods were used to gather data that was triangulated to increase the\ud
reliability and validity
Attackability Metrics Model for Secure Service Oriented Software
Software based systems are ubiquitous in modern day operations. There has been an increase\ud
in software based system attacks; leading to the need to equip the project managers, software\ud
designers and software developers with better predictive attackability models at the\ud
architectural design stage. Attackability is a concept proposed recently in literature to measure\ud
the extent that a software system or service could be the target of a successful attack. The\ud
research study aimed to refine the existing predictive metrics models by using the relationship\ud
between the internal software attributes: complexity, coupling and cohesion to predict at the\ud
architectural design level, an external software attribute, attackability. The model so\ud
generated, representing the technical aspect was combined with a social attackability model, to\ud
generate a holistic attackability model
