R. Emmett Martin Letter, 1862
This letter was written from the battlefield by Confederate soldier R. Emmett Martin to his wife, and is dated 3 July 1862. Martin recounts his participation in the Battle of Malvern Hill (Seven Days' Battle, Peninsular Campaign) and discusses the heavy casualties suffered by his regiment
