Racing sessions were examined before and after both activities. The subjects in the study were divided into 2
groups, group A (control) and group B (exercise). From the comparison between cortisol basal levels of both
groups, the statistical analysis showed a significant training effect on cortisol (F=8.86; P=0.011) changes. In
the comparison between the last training session (the 6th) and the race simulation, statistical analysis showed
a significant effect of not competitive race on cortisol (F=10.91; P=0.02) levels. One-way RM-ANOVA
showed a significant effect of exercise on cortisol changes during both all-training weeks and not
competitive sessions, with significant (F=10.91; P=0.02) higher levels in the not competitive session
compared to the last training session

Full text linkAbstract – Infrared thermography has been used in the biology of different animals species, both in wildlife
and in zoological garden. The present study aims at verifying whether thermography can be useful and has
practical application in large wild felines kept in captivity. On four pregnant females of leopard, lion, tiger
and puma, thermography was performed on eyes, nose, side and breast areas. The eyes represent the area
with the highest temperature, whereas other areas show similar thermal trends, but with lower temperatures,
probably because of the hair’s presence or of the frequency with which animal was moistened with tongue
and wet. Thermography was not affected by the environment temperature

No full textIl settore turistico è un pilastro dell'economia italiana per il suo contributo al PIL, il volume di posti di lavoro che genera e gli effetti indiretti favorevoli su altri comparti dell'economia italiana. Spesso però esso non è sufficientemente considerato come settore economico, forse a causa della sua trasversalità.
Le aziende turistiche italiane devono misurarsi in un ambiente estremamente competitivo. Esse sfruttano la leva dell’attrattività che il nostro Paese ancora genera, ma attualmente la competitività del prodotto e delle offerte turistiche è determinata anche da altri fattori, esogeni, che hanno una notevole incidenza (infrastrutture, governance, livello promozionale delle destinazioni, ecc..).
Spesso, infatti, si fanno considerazioni sulla competitività del turismo negli ambiti della politica, dell'amministrazione e dell'università, ma non viene quasi mai tenuto in considerazione il punto di vista delle aziende e di chi offre quotidianamente i servizi turistici. In tali discussioni non si tengono in considerazione i fattori che incidono sulla competitività della destinazione e delle aziende turistiche italiane, fermandosi agli aspetti macro senza approfondire le problematiche specifiche e operative che gli operatori incontrano ogni giorno.
È opinione condivisa che il turismo possa contribuire ad accelerare la ripresa economica dell’Italia a breve e medio termine, ma Federturismo Confindustria ritiene non sia riconosciuto il suo giusto valore a questo settore né in ambito politico, né imprenditoriale e sociale.
Il posizionamento turistico competitivo dell’Italia se non è cambiato sostanzialmente rispetto al 2010 nei suoi fattori endogeni, è però cambiato in relazione ai fattori esogeni. Esistono oggi numerose sfide interne, di carattere strutturale, da superare. Non esiste in Italia, infatti, una piena conoscenza del radicale cambiamento dello scenario globale e del bisogno latente di cambiare i modelli di gestione nelle destinazioni per raggiungere reali obiettivi economici.
L’Italia è turisticamente una multi – destinazione: ogni regione possiede caratteristiche uniche in termini di offerta, prodotti e sistemi oltre che di caratteristiche del comparto e delle proprie aziende. Pertanto non è possibile procedere con un ragionamento unico e standardizzato, poiché tale logica non corrisponderebbe alla realtà. I fattori di competitività anche se generici, hanno in ogni realtà aspetti particolari che non possono essere tralasciati.
Nell’attuale scenario nazionale, le Regioni italiane ed il settore turistico nazionale hanno enormi opportunità di ripresa. Per sfruttarle però è necessario che i governi centrale e locali siano leader nell’attuazione dei processi di miglioramento della competitività e della razionalizzazione e ottimizzazione delle risorse

Modificazioni endocrino-ematologiche in cavalli P.S.I. in corso di prove di cross-country a differente altitudine
Full text linkThe endocrine and hematological changes were studied in 24 healthy horses before and after cross-country sessions, performed at different altitudes. On the basis of different altitude and stabling, horses were distinguished in group I (200 m), group II (500 m), group III (800 m), group IV (control group: 1200 m). Compared to basal values, horses submitted to cross-country sessions showed higher cortisol levels post exercise, both at T1 (after the 1st hour) and T2 (after the 2nd hour), irrespective of different altitude, with significant effects of exercise on cortisol changes. Significant effects of different altitude were observed on the post-exercise cortisol changes in group I and III. Compared to basal values, Wbc, Rbc Hgb, Plt and Pct were higher after exercise, at T1, both in group I and group II, with higher Plt and Pct after exercise (T1) in group III. Basal Wbc, Rbc, Hgb, Hct and Plt values of groups III and IV were significantly higher than basal values of group I. Statistical analysis showed significant effects of exercise and altitude on the hematological variables

Full text linkThrough fatty acids determination in platelets membrane, interpreted by an artificial neural network and by a molecular index B2, the classification of the human mood disorders has been possible. As a natural continuation of similar studies in the animal field, this research had the purpose of determining the platelets membrane fatty acids in dogs. 14 dogs of two breeds (Alaskan Malamute and German Shepherd) were investigated. The index B2 medium present in the two breeds does not differ from that found in human patients with mood disorders. Moreover, differently from what happens in other animal species, two dogs, one for breed, reported negative values of B2, indicating a clear similarity with the corresponding values highlighted in human patients with major depression. These results may be considered particularly interesting in connection to possible new interpretations of animal consciousness and behavior

reason for the animal neglect. The aim of this study was to evaluate, with a specific test, the temperamental
traits of 2 groups of biting kennel and pet dogs. The test has been divided into 4 phases: approach and
interaction with a strange person, with a doll, with a false dog and the possession for food. Among kennel
biting dogs and pet ones differences have been found regarding their reactivity, agonistic and fear behaviors
and therefore their sociability towards different kinds of stimuli. A specific questionnaire submitted to pet
dog owners turned out to be a sensitive instrument of differentiation between groups, in particular with
reference to behaviors related to aggressiveness
