Creative Accounting Practice - Make or Mar Profit
The study looks at creative accounting practices in Nigeria with specific emphasis on its role in improving profit or otherwise. Like the tax avoidance, creative accounting, though lawful, is unethical. Though the practice often keeps companies afloat, their financial positions remain very unhealthy, with the consequences of a sudden failure, as the concept of "true and fair" is compromised. From the literature reviewed, it was discovered that managers use various creative accounting dimensions of income overstating, inventory manipulation, bad debt understatement, liabilities understating, and depreciation underreporting to manipulate the accounting figures at the detriment of the shareholders for their selfish gain. The study concluded that creative accounting improved profitability in the short run while enhancing an organisation's overall survival and ongoing concern. Thus, there is an urgent need to curb these practices with a robust legislative act that will make them unlawful by establishing a new policy framework. By intensifying its supervisory roles, NDIC and Apex Bank must strictly comply with revenue, inventory valuation, and asset depreciation accounting policies

Different Rates of N:P:K Fertilizer Effect on the Growth, Yield and Productivity of Component Crops in Upland Rice-Soybean Intercropping System
A two-year field experiment was carried out in the 2018 and 2019 cropping seasons to assess the effect of different rates of N:P:K (15:15:15) fertiliser on the growth, yield and productivity of component crops in upland rice-soybean intercrop in lowland humid region of Umudike, southeast Nigeria. The experiment was laid out in randomised complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. However, cropping system fertiliser rates were considered fixed during the statistical analysis to elicit more information on the effect of the cropping system in the study. The treatments include intercrop rice–soybean with five levels of N:P:K 15:15:15 at 0, 100, 200, 300 and 400 kg/ha fertiliser rates and sole upland rice and sole soybean each at the same rate. The results showed that the interaction of upland rice and soybean with N:P:K fertiliser significantly affected the plant height, number of leaves, leaf area index, weight of seeds per panicle, weight of seeds per plant and 1000 - seeds weight of upland rice. Based on the result of this investigation, it was observed that the cropping system and increased fertiliser rates positively affected the growth and yield component of upland rice and soybean. It was noted that the N:P:K fertiliser rate (400 kg) gave the highest growth and yield component of upland rice in the rice/soybean intercropping system. LER, as shown from the result, indicated that intercropped upland rice with 400 kg/ha N.P.K was highest in 2018, although the trend was not the same in 2019 as the gross monetary return

Energy Theft Detection and Real-Time Monitoring in a Smart Prepaid Metering System
Electricity theft represents a significant financial loss for distribution companies, primarily caused by consumer activities such as energy meter bypassing and tampering. This research presents a study approach to an intelligent prepaid energy metering system designed to detect and address these issues while offering real-time monitoring capabilities. The system is built around a microcontroller which monitors readings from two current sensors, one tracking the user's load consumption and being placed before the meter to measure the total current drawn by all the loads. Any changes between these readings indicate theft, prompting immediate action. A momentary switch is installed to detect tampering attempts and automatically trigger alerts once the meter is tampered with. Also, the system enables users to recharge energy units remotely and monitor their consumption through a user-friendly interface. The inclusion of GSM technology ensures that all unauthorized activities are reported to the relevant authorities. Experimental results demonstrate that the system measures load consumption and detects attempts to bypass the meter, reducing utility companies' revenue losses

Successfully integrating critical thinking into curricula, teaching practices, and assessment methods requires a concerted effort from all educational stakeholders. Therefore, the paper advocates for a systematic approach to incorporating inquiry-based practices in academic institutions, preparing students for the complexities of the modern world and promoting lifelong learning and adaptability.
Legal Implications of the Position of the Defendant Notary in a Law-suit to Cancel a Deed of Bequest as the Deed of Parties
This research discusses the legal implications of the notary's position as a defendant in a lawsuit to cancel a testamentary grant deed made by him as the deed of parties. Notaries are responsible for ensuring that every deed they make meets the quality and validity standards set by Law. The method used in this research is normative juridical research, which, in this case, can be done by examining various laws and regulations governing the role and responsibilities of notaries in making and cancelling testamentary grant deeds. In cancelling a testamentary grant deed, notaries can face various legal consequences, including administrative, civil, and criminal sanctions, if proven to have committed violations or negligence in making the deed. In addition, notaries are also responsible for storing and archiving deeds properly to ensure that they can be accessed for future legal purposes. This article also examines the legal protections that notaries can take to maintain the integrity of their profession and avoid potential lawsuits. By complying with legal procedures, ensuring the quality and validity of deeds, and implementing strict operational standards in storage and archiving, notaries can minimise legal risks and maintain public trust in their profession

Ai-Powered Phishing Detection And Prevention
Phishing attacks, which involve deceitful attempts to acquire sensitive information by impersonating a trustworthy entity, have become increasingly sophisticated and widespread. Traditional phishing detection methods typically rely on heuristic or signature-based techniques, which may struggle to adapt to the evolving tactics employed by attackers. This paper examines the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing phishing detection systems. AI-driven approaches utilise machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and pattern recognition to identify and mitigate phishing threats with improved accuracy and efficiency. By analysing large datasets, our systems uncover subtle patterns and anomalies indicative of phishing attempts that conventional methods might miss. We also discuss various AI methodologies in phishing detection, including supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, ensemble methods, and deep learning models. Furthermore, we evaluate the effectiveness of AI-driven systems in real-world scenarios and their ability to adapt to new phishing strategies. Our paper concludes with a discussion of current challenges and future research directions in this field, highlighting the necessity for ongoing advancements to tackle the dynamic nature of phishing threats
