Thiel Embalmed Bodies in Anatomical Simulation, Teaching and Research: Implementation and Educational Impact In Nigerian Medical Institutions
This research investigated the implementation of Thiel embalming in Nigerian anatomical education, examining its technical feasibility, educational effectiveness, and the required contextual adaptations. Using sequential explanatory mixed methods, the study documented the implementation of protocols across three Nigerian medical institutions, developing modified protocols that addressed the challenges of a tropical climate and resource constraints.Findings demonstrate Thiel embalming is technically feasible within Nigerian contexts when appropriate adaptations address environmental conditions and infrastructure limitations. Comparative analysis revealed superior educational outcomes across multiple domains, with particularly significant advantages for surgical skills training (d = 1.32), procedural simulation (d = 1.83), and musculoskeletal anatomy teaching (d = 1.14). Statistical analysis revealed consistently larger effect sizes for procedural applications (d = 1.60) compared to factual knowledge acquisition (d = 0.76).The cost-benefit analysis revealed substantial resource requirements that exceeded those of traditional methods by 450%. However, the expansion of educational applications and enhanced learning outcomes justified the strategic implementation. Cultural considerations revealed challenges regarding body donation programs, alongside opportunities through alignment with values that emphasise dignity and handler wellbeing. The research contributes contextual adaptation protocols, comprehensive implementation frameworks, and evidence-based guidance for resource-constrained environments. Recommendations address strategic implementation approaches for educational institutions, research priorities for enhancing sustainability, and policy considerations that support the advancement of anatomical education in Nigeria
Needs Assessment for the Development of Archerymad Hat as an Alternative to Replace the Kisser Button in Archery
Sports play a crucial role in improving both the quality of life and athletic performance. One of the fastest-growing sports in Indonesia is archery, which not only enhances focus and concentration but also helps reduce stress. In archery, technical consistency is essential for achieving optimal results. One commonly used aid is the kisser button, but some athletes find it uncomfortable to use. Therefore, this study aims to conduct a needs assessment for the development of the Archery MAD Hat as an alternative tool for maintaining consistency in archery. The research follows the Borg and Gall development model with a waterfall approach, involving a literature review, field studies, product design, expert validation, and initial trials. The researchers collected data through questionnaires distributed to 15 respondents, including archery experts, coaches, and athletes. The needs assessment results indicate that wearing a hat during archery is already a common practice and provides functional benefits, particularly in reducing visual disturbances caused by light. The majority of respondents also expressed the need for an alternative aid to the kisser button that is more comfortable and can enhance shooting consistency. Based on the study findings, the development of the Archery MAD Hat has the potential to become an innovative solution for improving archery performance, especially for beginners. The product offers greater comfort than the kisser button and helps athletes maintain consistent posture and technique during shooting
Analysis of the Accuracy and Shooting Angles for Aceh Pétanque Athletes in 2025
Pétanque is a precision sport where players throw a metal ball as close as possible to a wooden ball, aiming to keep the target ball or their opponent's ball close to the Boka. Pétanque has two basic techniques, namely pointing and shooting. Biomechanical factors that affect throws, such as knowing the angle to throw the ball towards the target, taking into account the ideal angle in making backwards hand swings, and forward ball release, also need to be considered when making throws to get the desired ball throw. The purpose of this study is to determine the accuracy of the shooting angle of Aceh pétanque athletes. This study uses a type of quantitative research. The sampling technique is carried out using purposive sampling, which involves selecting participants based on specific criteria or goals, namely to rank the top 10 Aceh pétanque athletes according to their achievements.Furthermore, the data is processed with the Kinovea software application to measure the angle of the throw, backswing and release. The angle of accuracy of the shooting of Aceh pétanque athletes was obtained as follows: The shooting accuracy of Aceh pétanque athletes is 40 with a low category, a percentage value of medium category with a frequency of 4 athletes with a percentage of 40%, and a low category with a frequency of 6 athletes with a percentage of 60%. The angle of the shooting throw in each session was obtained. The backswing angle of one athlete was very high, ranging from 116 to 1320, while another athlete's was very low, ranging from 25 to 410. The remaining eight athletes used a common angle, close to 59-69°. The release angle of one athlete was very high, ranging from 150 to 1650, while another athlete used a very low angle, ranging from 112 to 1290. The remaining eight athletes used a common angle, close to 126 to 135°
Factors Influencing Entrepreneurial Intention Among Students at the University of Mataram
This study examines the factors influencing entrepreneurial intention among entrepreneurial students at Universitas Mataram, with an emphasis on the roles of self-efficacy and university support. The research addresses the persistent gap between participation in entrepreneurship programs and low entrepreneurial intention among students despite institutional efforts to foster business creation. The primary objective is to evaluate how self-efficacy, defined as confidence in one's ability to perform entrepreneurial tasks and university support, encompassing curricula, mentorship, and business incubators, shapes students' intentions to start businesses, both independently and collectively. A quantitative approach with a causal design was utilised, involving 70 students from the university's entrepreneurial programs (PKU and P2MW) in the 2023–2024 academic year. Data were gathered through online questionnaires using a 5-point Likert scale and analysed with multiple linear regression. Results indicate that self-efficacy and university support have a significant and positive influence on entrepreneurial intention, both individually and in combination, accounting for 29.3% of the variance in entrepreneurial intention. Self-efficacy shows a stronger effect, highlighting the importance of confidence-building activities. The findings suggest that enhancing practical training to boost self-efficacy and improving institutional support through mentorship and resources can strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems. The study recommends further investigation into additional factors, such as social and cultural influences, to develop more effective entrepreneurship education initiatives

This event marks the shifting geopolitics of the South Caucasus and highlights how developments in the Middle East impact the region. This article examines the immediate outcomes and possible repercussions of the Israel-Iran war for the geopolitics of the South Caucasus region, critically analysing the continuity and change in security perceptions and dynamics of the area.
THE ROLE OF CULTURAL INTEGRATION IN LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGES
The article examines the interconnection between language and culture as essential components of the development of communicative competence in foreign language education. The authors emphasise that linguistic proficiency cannot be achieved in isolation from cultural awareness, as language reflects the values, norms, and worldviews of the society in which it functions. The study situates cultural integration at the centre of modern foreign language pedagogy, aligning with national and international educational standards that define cultural literacy as a necessary complement to linguistic skill. The research highlights that the absence of cultural context limits learners' understanding of pragmatic meaning, idiomatic expressions, and authentic communication. The research adopts a mixed approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Researchers collected data through questionnaires, structured interviews, and classroom observations involving 150 language learners and 30 teachers from different educational levels and cultural backgrounds. The comparative design allows for evaluating the impact of culturally integrated instruction versus traditional grammar-based teaching. The study measured students' engagement, motivation, and linguistic outcomes and analysed teacher perspectives to identify patterns in the implementation of cultural pedagogy. The results show that integrating culture into language learning significantly enhances linguistic proficiency, motivation, and intercultural competence. Students exposed to cultural content achieved better results in vocabulary retention, pronunciation accuracy, and contextual language use. They reported higher engagement levels and expressed that cultural topics made the learning process more enjoyable and meaningful. However, the article identifies key challenges hindering the full integration of cultural elements into language curricula. Many teachers lack training in cultural pedagogy and have limited access to authentic resources. Institutional constraints, such as rigid syllabi and standardised tests focused mainly on linguistic accuracy, further restrict opportunities for cultural instruction. Teachers expressed the need for professional development programs and for access to digital tools that enable virtual cultural exchange and multimedia learning. It is stated that cultural integration is not an optional supplement but a central component of effective language education. Embedding cultural knowledge into language teaching strengthens both cognitive and communicative dimensions of learning, fosters empathy, and prepares students for global citizenship. The article recommends that educational institutions prioritise teacher preparation in cultural methodology, balance linguistic and cultural objectives in curricula, and incorporate modern technologies such as digital storytelling and AI-based learning platforms to enhance cultural immersion.Successful foreign language acquisition depends on the harmony between linguistic and cultural dimensions. By placing culture at the heart of language instruction, educators enable learners to achieve not only fluency but also intercultural understanding, skills indispensable for meaningful communication in an increasingly interconnected world.ABSTRACTThe article deals with the interconnection of language and culture as essential components in developing communicative competence in foreign language education. Analysis of Limits of Acceptable Change (LAC) In Sustainable Tourism Management in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia
Gili Trawangan, a premier destination in North Lombok, has experienced a surge in tourists, with significant impacts on the local environment, culture, and economy. This study aims to analyse stakeholder perceptions of the Limits of Acceptable Change (LAC) and identify critical indicators for sustainable tourism management. The researchers used a qualitative approach, including in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis. This research is analysed qualitatively using thematic analysis. The research results indicate that, while the socio-cultural aspect of local income has increased, disparities in business access and dependence on tourism have created vulnerabilities.Meanwhile, the environmental situation is critical, marked by declining water quality, ecosystem damage, and increased plastic waste. This study emphasises the need to implement indicator-based LAC, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and adaptive strategies to sustain small islands. Based on these findings, the application of the LAC concept is recommended through the establishment of priority indicators, change-tolerance standards, and periodic strengthening of multi-stakeholder collaborations. Strengthening research provides a theoretical contribution to refining the LAC concept in the context of small islands and offers practical implications for formulating sustainable tourism management policies in Indonesia
Morphometric Measurements of Scapular and Suprascapular Notch in the Nigerian Population
The underrepresentation of Sub-Saharan African populations in global morphometric databases limits the accuracy of medical and forensic work. This study establishes measurement standards for Nigerian scapulae through detailed anatomical analysis. A total of 347 adult Nigerian scapulae (181 males, 166 females) from the Yoruba (38.6%), Hausa-Fulani (33.1%), and Igbo (28.3%) groups were studied using standard measuring tools and digital imaging. We measured 14 features, focusing on scapular dimensions, the glenoid cavity, and the suprascapular notch. Detailed statistical analysis revealed that Nigerians have smaller scapular dimensions than Europeans and predominantly a long, narrow scapular form. Researchers noted apparent sexual dimorphism and correctly identified sex in 94.8% of cases. Type IV suprascapular notches, linked to higher nerve risks, occurred in 11.7% of samples. Our findings underscore the need for population-specific medical and forensic standards for Nigerians. One tangible impact of these findings is on implant sizing in orthopaedic surgery, where applying our Nigerian-specific data will ensure more accurate and safer surgical outcomes than those achieved with existing international standards. Such adjustments are crucial to avoid the pitfalls of adopting European sizes, which may lead to improper fittings and increased complication rates
Creative Accounting and Corporate Failure: A Case Study of Selected Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria
This study investigates the connection between creative accounting practices and corporate failure among selected deposit money banks in Nigeria. The research aimed to establish the effects of discretionary accruals management and non-discretionary accruals on the occurrence of financial distress. This inquiry was motivated by the growing incidence of bank failures and financial scandals in Nigeria, often attributed to the manipulation of accounting information and weaknesses in corporate governance structures. The study adopted an ex post facto research design. The researchers collected secondary data from the published annual reports of five selected banks, spanning the 10 years from 2015 to 2024. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression in EViews. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between both discretionary and non-discretionary accruals and the proxy for corporate failure. The negative coefficient for discretionary accruals suggests that managers may employ earnings manipulation to mask financial distress in the short term. On the contrary, the negative correlation between non-discretionary accruals indicates that accruals from real operations are related to financial stability. This paper concludes that whereas abusive creative accounting falsely represents a bank's actual financial well-being, strategic exploitation of discretionary accruals can temporarily conceal financial distress. It is also advisable that regulators tighten compliance controls and impose more stringent audit controls. The management of a bank must adhere to ethical accounting practices, and the external auditors must be professionally sceptical to clearly identify earnings management as early as possible
