Abschlussbericht Repräsentativbefragung zur Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderungen: Teilhabesurvey - Welle 2
Get PDFDie "Repräsentativbefragung zur Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderungen" (kurz: Teilhabesurvey) untersucht die Teilhabe von Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen und Behinderungen in unterschiedlichen Lebensbereichen. Im empirischen Vergleich zu Menschen ohne Beeinträchtigung erschließen sich Besonderheiten und spezifische Probleme der Lebenswelt von Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen und Behinderungen. Der Teilhabesurvey befragt sowohl Personen in Privathaushalten als auch Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner in besonderen Wohnformen und im betreuten Wohnen für Menschen mit Behinderungen sowie in Alten- und Pflegeeinrichtungen. In die Studie werden auch Gruppen - wie wohnungslose Menschen sowie taubblinde und hörsehbeeinträchtigte Menschen - einbezogen, die über die üblichen Stichprobenverfahren nicht oder nur schwer erreicht werden. Der vorliegende Abschlussbericht beschreibt die Methodik und zentralen Ergebnisse der zweiten Welle des Teilhabesurvey, berichtet die Befunde aus den qualitativen Interviews, die im Rahmen des Forschungsvorhabens durchgeführt wurden, und verknüpft diese mit den quantitativen Befragungsergebnissen. Abschließend werden die Erkenntnisse aus der Befragung von wohnungslosen Menschen sowie der Befragung von hörsehbeeinträchtigten Menschen diskutiert.The "Representative Survey on the Participation of People with Disabilities" (short: participation survey) is the largest nationwide representative survey on the participation of people with impairments and disabilities in Germany. The aim of the study is to gain information about the life situations and participation opportunities of people with impairments and disabilities in various areas of life. In an empirical comparison with people without disabilities, the specific circumstances and boundaries of the living environment of people with disabilities become apparent. The participation survey asks people in private households as well as residents in institutions for people with disabilities and in institutions for the elderly. The participation survey also reaches groups that cannot be reached using the usual sampling procedures, such as homeless people as well as deaf-blind and hearing-impaired people. The final report describes the methodology and central results of the second wave of the participation survey and presents the insights from the qualitative interviews conducted as part of the research project and links these to the quantitative survey results. Finally, the report discusses the findings from the survey of homeless people as well as the survey of deaf-blind and hearing-impaired people

Get PDFThe urgency of fast-tracking the global energy transition is undeniable, and many governments across the globe have already enacted laws prioritising and facilitating the development of renewable energy projects. However, there are drawbacks to fast-tracking such projects. For example, renewable energy projects often take place in conservation areas and, particularly in Southeast Asia, many are developed within biodiversity hotspots. In addition, there is concern that by prioritising energy transition without having adequate safeguards in place, communities that rely heavily on local ecosystems could be sidelined in the development process. This deal narrative takes a look at the Nabas Wind Farm on Panay Island in the Philippines as a case study to highlight these challenges and trade-offs in fast-tracking renewable energy projects

But in July and August 2024, three icebreakers - Xuelong 2, Ji Di and Zhong Shan Da Xue Ji Di - made China's growing presence felt in the Arctic for the first time ever. Beijing is thus signalling more ambitious intentions, and the construction of a heavy icebreaker could enable China to establish a permanent presence in the Arctic Ocean. Listening in Good Faith: Cosmopolitan Intimacy and Audio Journalism
Get PDFThis article interrogates the privileging of intimacy in contemporary discussions of media in general and audio journalism in particular (within a broadly Anglo-American frame). It posits that the prominence of the term in relation to podcasting specifically, together with the communicative practices it purports to describe, has become ideological. The article begins by exploring how the intimate address of radio and podcasting has been variously invoked and celebrated in public and academic discourse across a century of spoken word media. This historical overview provides a context and counterpoint to the ways in which intimacy is invoked in contemporary discourses and the contradictions encapsulated by the notion of an "intimate public sphere" (Berlant, 1998). It highlights how the language of intimacy in the public realm - with all its positive connotations, including in relation to building trust - can be appropriated or transformed under the logics of communicative capitalism (Dean, 2005) to disguise unequal power relations, restrict communication across difference, and feed into a culture of atomised individualism. The article turns instead to a cosmopolitan ethics of "proper distance" (Silverstone, 2004) combined with a feminist ethics of care as a way to negotiate the balance between intimacy and trust for the listening public
