No full textThis collection consists of geophysical data, a CAD vector drawing, report, and GIS data from a geophysical survey at Research Computer Centre, Harwell Campus, Chilton, Oxfordshire. Works were conducted by SUMO GeoSurveys in November 2023. A magnetometer survey of 2.5 hectares recorded magnetic responses that have been interpreted as being of archaeological interest. These include ditch-like anomalies and trends that could form a partial enclosure which extends beyond the survey area, and a pit-like anomaly. A linear band of increased response may be of archaeological interest, or it could be a former field boundary

Excavation revealed prehistoric, medieval, post-medieval and modern activity, truncated by 1940s demolition

No full textThis collection comprises images and a report from a Level 2 to 3 Historic Building Recording at Manor Farm, Vicarage Road, Mickleover, Derby. Work was carried out by York Archaeology in November 2024 in advance of the proposed conversion of the two historic barns into three dwellings, together with the erection of six linked dwellings, as part of a Listed Building Consent (planning ref. 22/01388/LBA). The historic building recording also included the Grade II Listed Building Farmhouse, with the intention to incorporate it within an overall report for a future application for proposed refurbishment. Manor Farm originated at least from the mid-18th century as an outfarm with small barns and subsequent outbuildings, set around a courtyard

No full textThis collection consists of images, reports and site record data from a detailed stone by stone survey and archaeological watching brief by AOC Archaeology. Work occurred at the Alum Scar bridge, Samlesbury, South Ribble, prior to its refurbishment from March to June 2009. The watching brief results suggest that the bridge is probably of one build, although the upper courses of its northern side may have been repaired. The bridge was filled with multiple layers of sterile, redeposited natural clay and stone. The only internal structures observed were two stone buttresses supporting the central arch

Oxford Archaeology conducted an archaeological trial-trench evaluation consisting of 14 trenches, which were carried out between 27th September and 6th October 2021, in advance of the proposed redevelopment of the caravan park as a holiday lodge park. The features recorded in Trenches 2, 11 and 12 appear to be of very low archaeological significance. Most of the trenches contained no features at all

No full textThis collection comprises site images and GIS data from an archaeological excavation at Barbrook Lane, Tiptree, Essex. The mitigation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology between May and June 2021. Several phases of prehistoric activity were identified. The site saw settlement possibly from as early as the Late Bronze Age and continuing into the Iron Age. Several post-hole structures were recorded. One is possibly the remains of a sizeable roundhouse. Two others take the form of square arrangements of post-holes, indicating likely grain stores. The earliest significant feature was an un-urned cremation within a ring ditch, radiocarbon dated to the Bronze Age
