Images and Text from a Historic Building Survey of the Old Barn Inn, Glooston, Leicestershire, May 2024

    No full text
This collection consists of images and text from a historic building photographic survey carried out by Past to Present Archaeology Ltd, of the Old Barn In, Glooston, Leicestershire, in May 2024. The building is in need of repair, particularly to the roof and chimney structures to prevent further leaking. The two-storey building has historical value in terms of it's use as a public house for at least 134 years, its central location suggests that the former inn was an important communal area to the village. The proposed plans for a dwelling will ensure that the building remains in use with the historic timber beams and fireplace being retained

    No full text
This collection comprises images and a site phasing index from an open-area excavation by Albion Archaeology at Welford Road, Leicestershire from October to November 2015. It has been possible to determine a chronological sequence of six phases of activity, based largely on the stratigraphic relationships between features. However, as was the case during the evaluation, the dating of individual features and phases has been problematic due to the small and undiagnostic finds assemblage and the inconsistent correlation between the radiocarbon determinations and the phasing
