No full textThis collection consists of images, GIS, geophysics, and site record data from a desk-based assessment, geophysical survey and watching brief by Archaeology Wales. Work occurred on land near Leadenham quarry site at Welbourn, Lincolnshire between 2017 and 2020. Research identified that the proposed development site contains areas of archaeological interest. The geophysical survey identified three small areas of discrete positive magnetic anomalies outside the limit of the former trench have been interpreted as possibly previously unidentified prehistoric pits or post holes. During the watching brief no significant archaeological finds or features were recorded

No full textThis collection comprises site images, CAD vector drawings, and a report from an archaeological evaluation, including geophysical surveying and geoarchaeological test-pitting at Chaul End Reservoir, Caddington, Bedfordshire. The evaluation was carried out by Albion Archaeology in September 2022, and aimed to gather baseline information in support of a planning application for a proposed new reservoir with associated valve house and pipework. The few archaeological features identified within the area are likely to be post-medieval or later in date and agricultural in nature

No full textThis collection comprises images from Historic Building Recording and Archaeological Monitoring and Recording at East Titchberry Granary, Hartland, Devon. Work was carried out by South West Archaeology Ltd. in October 2024. The three structures recorded include the granary, additional farm building and a linhay. The granary is Grade II Listed as an 18th century farm building, though it is of far more interest than the listing text would suggest. The earliest fabric is likely to date to the 17th century and it relates to an earlier courtyard complex that served the earlier hall. The farm building in its first form was created during the 18th century, with the loading door facing the farmhouse, and considering the historic orchards it was possibly an apple store or a shippon. The linhay is of good vernacular build and it is largely complete and of a specialised form that is seen in pre-1800 farm buildings, though it is not Listed. It too incorporates earlier fabric

No full textThis collection comprises data from geophysical surveys, GIS (raster), images, and supporting documents, from an archaeological evaluation by trial trenching at Rockingham Forest Park, Kings Cliffe, Northamptonshire. Work was carried out by MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) Northampton, in advance of the proposed Phase 2 construction of lodge park facilities. The evaluation uncovered a series of linear features, a number of furrows, two undated, possible tree throw pits were also recorded. The work made minor contributions to Iron Age, medieval and post-medieval objectives in the relevant research framework. The geophysical survey found ditches, historic boundaries, remnants of medieval to early post-medieval ridge and furrow. The sparse and apparently fragmented nature of these remains may reflect the extent to which the site was disturbed in the 1940s, during the construction and maintenance of RAF King's Cliffe

No full textThis collection comprises images and drawings from a Level 2/3 Historic Building Recording of a barn at Bubnell Cliff Farm, Baslow, Derbyshire. The work was carried out by TJC Heritage Ltd in August 2022. The Level 2/3 survey includes a full photographic record of the barn and its setting and a drawn record, with measured plans and elevations.
The barn dates to between 1847 and 1879 as part of the redevelopment of Bubnell Cliff farm when it expanded from a single rectangular building, likely to have comprised a house and barn, to a courtyard farm. The building comprises several phases of work including a central infill. There have been extensive changes to the arrangement of doors and windows, particularly at the western end of the building, and a new double door inserted into the eastern end

No full textThis collection comprises images from Historic Building Recording at New Moors Farm, Evenwood Gate, Bishop Auckland, County Durham. Work was carried out by Pre-Construct Archaeology Ltd Durham in July 2024. The farm buildings surveyed were a purpose-built planned farm adopting a typical courtyard plan with a single south-facing open stockyard and open fronted cow shed, cow houses and a large threshing barn with threshing apparatus driven by an external gin gang. The buildings remained relatively unchanged during their lifetime, with few structural changes to the principal components apart from the removal of the gin gang, some re-fenestration works and the blocking or opening of doorways. Later changes occurred post-war, although appears to have remained in use for cattle until the late 20th century, when the farm transferred to an equestrian use and a small livery yard was added to the east
