Digital Archive from a Magnetometer Survey at Furzen Leaze Solar Farm, Siddington and Kemble, Gloucestershire, February-March 2025
No full textThis collection comprises raw and minimally processed magnetometry data, greyscale images of processed magnetometry data and a CAD drawing from a geophysical survey at Furzen Leaze Solar Farm, Siddington and Kemble, Gloucestershire. Work was carried out by Archaeological Surveys Ltd February and March 2024. The results of the survey indicate the presence of a small number of enclosures and linear ditches in the northern part of the site, along with two small ring ditches and linear ditches and pits in the east. There is widespread evidence for formerly mapped field boundaries along with former ridge and furrow cultivation and more modern land drainage. A large number of naturally formed linear, rectilinear and pit-like anomalies can be seen within the site and it can be difficult to differentiate between those with a natural origin and those with an anthropogenic origin

No full textThis collection consists of text, images, spreadsheets, databases and GIS data from a programme of archaeological investigation undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology between July and November 2019 and in July 2020 at the request of GRAHAM (on behalf of Hertfordshire County Council) at the A120 (Little Hadham) Bypass and Flood Alleviation Scheme. A total of four strip, map and sample (SMS) areas were excavated, covering an area of 3.32ha, and 188 watching brief (WB) areas were monitored, covering an area of 18.73ha

The works were carried out by Cotswold Archaeology in August 2022. Archaeological features were revealed in two trenches in Area 3; a pit and a small ditch. No archaeological features or deposits were encountered in any of the other trenches that formed phase two of the evaluation

No full textThis collection comprises images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation on land at Pelham Spring Solar Farm, Maggotts End, Berden, Essex. This was carried out in August 2023 by Cotswold Archaeology. Finds include pottery assemblages where the majority of the pottery recovered from the moat and internal features was dated to the mid-12th to mid-14th century. Based on the pottery dates, it appears that activity within the moated site ceased during the 14th century, most likely as part of the retreat from and abandonment of less suitable agricultural land following the population collapse of the mid-14th century, in line with the wider regional trend

No full textThis collection consists of site images and CAD/vector drawings from an archaeological watching brief at Scotson Chambers, 80 High Street South, Dunstable, Bedfordshire. The watching brief was conducted by Albion Archaeology in November 2021, and works revealed modern disturbance associated with former buildings on the site. No features earlier than the modern period were identified within the foundation trenches. It is possible that earlier archaeological deposits may have been truncated during the construction of previous buildings, and it cannot be ruled out that such remains may survive below the level of the present groundworks. The modern deposits identified are of negligible archaeological significance with no further potential to address regional research aims

No full textThis collection consists of a vector graphic, GIS and geophysics data from a geophysical survey, comprising detailed magnetometry, by Archaeological Surveys Ltd. Work occurred on land north of Finkley Road, Andover, Hampshire in October 2023.The site contains a series of low earthworks associated with a field system and the results of the survey show a number of broad linear anomalies that correspond with these boundary features. The majority indicate a response to the bank, but those within the south eastern part of the site indicate a response to a cut, ditch-like feature. A fragmented linear anomaly extends parallel with the southern boundary of the site
