No full textThis collection comprises images from an archaeological trench evaluation and historic building recording on the land at Priorton Mill Cottage, Sandford, Mid Devon, Devon. This work was undertaken by South West Archaeology Ltd. in March 2021. The plot was originally recorded as a house and a garden. An 'L' shape footprint building was depicted at this time with a smaller square structure appearing on later historic mapping until post-1946. The archaeological trench evaluation and historic building recording identified no evidence of domestic function, with the structure appearing to have been used for animal housing and for storage. There were no dateable features or dateable fabrics on the site, though the vernacular nature of the construction and the thickness of the walls would suggest that the structure is 18th century or early 19th century in origin

No full textThis collection comprises images and site records from a trial trench evaulation at the Cheshire Archives History Centre, Hoole Road, Hoole Bridge, Chester, Cheshire. This work was undertaken by Oxford Archaeology between September 2023 and August 2024. During the 2000s, the 19th century railway goods shed was converted into the Chester Enterprise Centre which was severely damaged by fire in December 2010 and was subsequently demolished in 2011. At this time, the building included the offices of LP Archaeology, whose archive was located within the basement of the building and was lost to the fire and demolition.The evaluation recorded the remains of 19th century walls and internal and external floors. The infilled basement was located and it was ascertained that the former LP Archaeology may have survived. If any further stage of construction works is planned in the future to the south-east of the current site, it may be that mitigation is necessary including the excavation, retrieval, and cataloguing of the former archive material

This work was undertaken by the University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) in January 2022.The field evaluation identified evidence for railway track lines which appear to relate to the early 19th century Coleorton Railway identified during previous excavations and shown on the LIDAR data. No archaeology was seen other than the visible tracks at the edge of the site

No full textThis collection consists of geophysics data, GIS data, and CAD vector drawings from a geophysical survey at Windsor Drive, Devizes, Wiltshire. The survey was conducted by Archaeological Surveys Ltd. in February 2024. Several magnetic anomalies correspond with the high resistance responses, although it is not clear if they relate to cut features, or magnetically enhanced features within the former earthworks. Widespread magnetic contamination may have partially obscured weaker features
