No full textThis collection consists of images, text, databases and a spreadsheet from an archaeological strip map and record excavation at Ardwic, Bennett Street, Manchester, from February to March 2023. The excavation exposed the entire footprint of the J.M Bennett and Sons iron foundry building. The internal layout, coupled with the location of finds assemblages allowed us to identify process flow and potential brass casting. A platform for a Cornish boiler and the site of a potential furnace utilising waste-heat boilers accounted for how the internal machinery was powered. Rail sidings linked to the main railway network indicated how materials were imported and finished products exported from the foundry

No full textThis collection comprises images, CAD data, and site records from an archaeological monitoring and recording at the Mulberry Tree Family Centre and the garden of East Hill House, 76 High Street Colchester, Essex, CO1 1UF. Colchester Archaeological Trust carried out groundworks for a replacement gas pipe in October 2024. Despite being located within an area of significant archaeological remains, all groundworks took place within modern layers associated with the construction of the car park and the backfill of the original gas pipe trench. Finds included CBM, pottery, and a clay tobacco pipe. No significant archaeological remains were impacted by the groundworks
