This work was undertaken by ISCA Archaeology in January 2023. The assessment concluded that whilst change is being introduced to the Old Laundry via its redevelopment, this change reverses some of the harm created during the years when the building was derelict, and it ensures the building is conserved and put into active and appropriate use

Digital Archive from an Archaeological Evaluation at Tolldish Hall Farm, Parrotts Grove, Coventry, Warwickshire, January-February 2024

    No full text
This collection comprises images, site records, reports, a spreadsheet, and GIS files from an archaeological evaluation at Tolldish Hall Farm, Parrotts Grove, Coventry, Warwickshire. This work was undertaken by Wessex Archaeology in January and February 2024. Ten trenches contained archaeological features (comprising field boundaries and furrows) and two trenches contained natural features. All areas contained ditches, which probably represented post-medieval to modern field boundaries, as they correlate with plot divisions shown on 19th-century historical mapping, and some contained late post-medieval/modern artefacts. The general lack of archaeological remains from the evaluation matches the overall impression of subdued levels of activity on the site in the past, as suggested by the archaeological and historical context of the site

Images from an Archaeological Watching Brief at Linton Hall Farm, Linton, Craven, North Yorkshire, October 2024

    No full text
This collection comprises images from an archaeological watching brief at Linton Hall Farm, Linton Craven, North Yorkshire. This work was undertaken by Eden Heritage in October 2024. The work revealed that the historic pond was constructed to take advantage of a natural glacial drainage channel. The pond basin was defined to the east by the natural slope of this channel, but earthworks were constructed to the north and west sides to separate the pond from the Linton Beck. The natural clay underlying the topsoil would have formed an effective seal, although it is uncertain how effective the earthworks would have been in retaining a significant depth of water as the pond was located at a higher level than the adjacent Linton Beck. It is possible that the historic pond was used as a fishpond, or as an ice pond, or it may have had multiple uses
