“Economic Security” from the Perspective of Conflict of Laws and International Trade Law
Fluid Simulation directly Driven by 3D image data
This study explores a new approach to computational fluid dynamics (CFD) by directly utilizing 3D image data. We focus on processing point cloud data obtained via smartphone photogrammetry applications to simulate fluid flows around complex geometries. The core methodology involves the Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) combined with a level-set approach to define solid boundaries continuously within the computational domain. Our findings demonstrate the efficacy of this technique using a copper statue model, reconstructed from image data, to conduct flow simulations. Additionally, we present a case study of indoor airflow analysis, showcasing a robust simulation is possible even when the surface model is not closed. Enhancing the Socio-Cultural Sustainability of Visitor Attractions: Empowering Family Visitors
Despite the ubiquitous nature of families within tourism, there has been an inexplicable dearth of studies with families as the research subject. For many visitor attractions, imparting the site's importance to visitors and educating them on its significance are highly desirable outcomes, so better understanding families can have significant implications for the site's socio-cultural sustainability as well as providing useful important business insights. Using marketing frameworks and visual research methods, this paper makes an important contribution to analyse families' experiences within a UK visitor attraction. 14 families took part, from a range of nationalities and socio-economic backgrounds. This was complemented by nine interviews with operational- and managerial-level staff. Important insights are revealed into the approach of the site towards its interpretive resources and how families actually experienced a site, including their interactions with the site’s interpretation. Multiliteracies in tourism education - why bother?
This manuscript has three primary aims: Firstly, my intention is to give a foundational insight into what multimodality, multimodal literacy, and multiliteracies mean for educators and researchers in the field of tourism and hospitality higher / tertiary education (hereafter tourism education). Secondly, I will also examine how an overt awareness of multimodality can lead to more active and purposive teaching activities and assessments in the field. My final aim is to elaborate why the incorporation of multiliteracies learning is beneficial for tourism graduates’ personal growth, regardless of the career path they select after their initial degree. The argument is mostly conceptual, but it uses empirical examples to illustrate the theoretical concepts in use. It is, however, not an empirical investigation of one learning unit, or one distinct case, and it is distinctly inductive and investigative, not deductive and deterministic. This is a Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) manuscript, a reflective investigation by a tourism academic into the nature and rationale of tourism education with an aim to highlight best practice from other fields of study so that SoTL colleagues in tourism education can adapt those insights into their own fields of learning too. The main contribution to tourism education lies in the introduction of new vocabulary with attached theoretical and practical implications. By moving beyond a restricted perception of ‘literacy’ to multiliteracies in tourism classrooms, both learners and teachers can enter a new values-based realm of meaning making, and knowledge creation
Paranthura oriens sp. nov. (Isopoda: Anthuroidea: Paranthuridae) from Tateyama, Chiba, Japan
We describe Paranthura oriens sp. nov. based on specimens collected from Tateyama, Chiba, Japan. Paranthura is the most speciose genus in Anthuroidea, with five groups defined by the condition of the pleonites. Our new species belongs in Group E, defined by having dorsally fused pleonites 1–5. It differs from the other 17 species in Group E in the following combination of characters: (1) the apical edge of the telson is rounded, not sharp, (2) the uropodal endopod is triangular and tapering, and (3) the uropodal exopod is narrow, 2.72–2.84 times longer than wide.
