No full textTra le strategie attuate per un utilizzo ottimale delle risorse economiche e nell???uso del suolo, è utile considerare il riutilizzo dell???esistente, non soltanto inteso come intervento teso alla conservazione integrata di manufatti di rilevante interesse, ma anche come sommatoria di processi che investono l???edificato più comune, se non il più degradato, e che non partono da un progetto strategico di ampio respiro, calato dall???alto, ma esprimono, con una serie di piccoli interventi, di iniziativa individuale o per piccoli gruppi, le istanze più pressanti dettate dalla realtà e le esigenze più attuali nell???uso degli spazi.
Il costruito è continuamente reso oggetto di processi di trasformazione che partono dall???interno, modificazioni apparentemente secondarie, che però arrivano a cambiare profondamente il senso ed il ruolo di spazi, luoghi, finanche intere parti di città. La sperimentazione di nuovi modi di uso dello spazio, nuove tipologie nasce spesso da incalzanti necessità economiche, come nel caso dei primi loft, per fare un semplice esempio, per poi divenire modello di ricerca per la progettazione e strumento utile a mutare anche drasticamente la fruizione e la valorizzazione di un???area, generando spostamenti di interesse culturali quanto economici (Àbalos, 2009). Ma anche altri fenomeni, come il cohousing o l???office sharing, sono maturati in forma spontanea, generalmente riutilizzando spazi esistenti con piccoli interventi interni, per poi suscitare l???attenzione della cultura del progetto verso i nuovi scenari tipologici e spaziali che hanno configurato.
In questo variegato mondo di realizzazioni assume un ruolo fondamentale la capacità del progettista di interpretare il contesto (Gregotti, 1994), di mediare i propri modelli teorici e progettuali con la lettura delle tracce, materiali e immateriali, sulle quali si innesta, mostrando con evidenza come il progetto si inserisca in un continuo processo di manutenzione e manipolazione dell???esistente (Borella, 2008). Il progetto di dimensioni contenute, alla scala del dettaglio, non può per sua natura sfuggire a questa necessità di aderire al contesto, sia inteso come topografia dei luoghi che come espressione della forza delle cose, ???il gioco delle forze estranee??? cui l???architettura non è immune, necessitando anzi della connessione tra saperi e sensibilità diversi.
Il progetto di interni si traduce spesso in realizzazioni dalla consistenza materialmente fragile, labile, ma che altrettanto spesso risulta molto incisiva per le sue conseguenze. Un processo di natura endoparassitaria (Bosoni, 2008) fa sì che, dall???innesto di una piccola nuova configurazione al suo interno, un organismo architettonico risulti poi radicalmente trasformato sul piano morfologico quanto su quello della fruizione. Questi due piani, quello della materialità della trasformazione e quello dell???impatto sull???abitare, non sempre seguono direzioni parallele: piccoli cambiamenti possono alterare fortemente il significato dei luoghi così come grandi progetti talvolta ripropongono modelli che non aderiscono più alle istanze della vita attuale, in continuo mutamento. Questo processo di continua piccola conversione indotta da interventi alla scala del dettaglio, che partono dall???interno dell???esistente, non riguarda soltanto la sfera dell???abitare o lavorare di singoli individui, poiché anche lo spazio pubblico si percepisce come una successione ininterrotta di interni che si trasformano incessantemente (Zardini, 2004), seguendo il ritmo dettato dall???economia reale o dalle modalità di uso e consumo degli spazi e di relazione tra i gruppi sociali.
Se consideriamo questo continuo processo di trasformazione, che dall???interno dell???architettura finisce per ripercuotersi sulla scena urbana, appare verificata la considerazione crociana circa l???assimilazione del progetto di architettura a quelle opere letterarie, come il Roman de la rose, scritte a più voci, dove ogni scrittura prosegue il lavoro iniziato precedentemente da altri
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
