    Simultaneous Inference in Regression

    No full text
Simultaneous confidence bands enable more intuitive and detailed inference of regression analysis than the standard inferential methods of parameter estimation and hypothesis testing. Simultaneous Inference in Regression provides a thorough overview of the construction methods and applications of simultaneous confidence bands for various inferential purposes. It supplies examples and MATLAB® programs that make it easy to apply the methods to your own data analysis. The MATLAB programs, along with color figures, are available for download on www.personal.soton.ac.uk/wl/mybook.htmlMost of the book focuses on normal-error linear regression models. The author presents simultaneous confidence bands for a simple regression line, a multiple linear regression model, and polynomial regression models. He also uses simultaneous confidence bands to assess part of a multiple linear regression model with the zero function, to compare two regression models, and to evaluate more than two regression models. The final chapter demonstrates the use of simultaneous confidence bands in generalized linear regression models, such as logistic regression models. This book shows how to employ simultaneous confidence bands to make useful inferences in regression analysis. The topics discussed can be extended to functions other than parametric regression functions, offering novel opportunities for research beyond linear regression models.<br/

The following work deals with the thesis of „creepyness“ in Chinese Avant-garde painting. With the help of colours symbolism and a focus on the colour red, the author tries to pinpoint the weird feeling an observer is subject to, when looking at certain pictures of Chinese Avant-garde paintings. First of all, this thesis highlights the significance of the word „creepyness“ itself linguistically. Then it defines the word according to Sigmund Freud. Freud wrote an article about the topic „Das Unheimliche“ in 1919. His theory was, if there is something unkown or close, who comes forward, the person feels uncomfortable. Following the introductory chaters the biographies and the works of three Chinese Avant-garde artists are discussed. In the case of Yang Shaobin (born 1963), the reader will experience the colour red as issueing emotions of violence. Liu Wei (born 1965) on the other hand shows, how his dealing with red becomes a theme of sexuality and irony. Last but not least Zhao Yongbo (born 1964) uses red to express degradation and degeneration. A capter on the theory of colours by Johannes Itten will be found and the imagery of different colours, using Feng Shui concludes the study

Control of directional errors with step-up multiple tests

It is shown in Shaffer (1980) that step-down multiple tests designed to control Type I errors at rate α actually control Type I and III errors jointly at rate α under certain distributional assumptions. In this note it is shown that step-up multiple tests have a similar property under the same distributional assumptions

Conditional probability of correct selection under the continuum partition with applications

The problem of selecting the best population from among a finite number of populations in the presence of uncertainty is a problem one faces in many scientific investigations, and has been studied extensively, Many selection procedures have been derived for different selection goals. However, most of these selection procedures, being frequentist in nature, don't tell how to incorporate the information in a particular sample to give a data-dependent measure of correct selection achieved for this particular sample. They often assign the same decision and probability of correct selection for two different sample values, one of which actually seems intuitively much more conclusive than the other. The methodology of conditional inference offers an approach which achieves both frequentist interpret ability and a data-dependent measure of conclusiveness. By partitioning the sample space into a family of subsets, the achieved probability of correct selection is computed by conditioning on which subset the sample falls in. In this paper, the partition considered is the so called continuum partition, while the selection rules are both the fixed-size and random-size subset selection rules. Under the distributional assumption of being monotone likelihood ratio, results on least favourable configuration and alpha-correct selection are established. These results are not only useful in themselves, but also are used to design a new sequential procedure with elimination for selecting the best of k Binomial populations. Comparisons between this new procedure and some other sequential selection procedures with regard to total expected sample size and some risk functions are carried out by simulations

This article obtains data by distributing and collecting questionnaires, then organises and analyses the obtained data to test the hypotheses, and finally presents the conclusions. The questionnaires are targeted at business executives and core managers who have experience with digital technologies, have used digital products and understand digital platforms. Convenience sampling is utilized to distribute and follow up on the returned electronic questionnaires. To ensure the rigor of the study, top managers who play a leading role in digital transformation, middle managers who have the resources to drive the execution of digital transformation, and junior managers who directly execute and optimize digital transformation are selected as the research targets. The targeted research is conducted with 200 enterprises, 186 valid questionnaires are collected, and the proportion of middle, senior ,and core managers that completed valid questionnaires is as high as 85.48%. These managers come from domestic mainstream original equipment manufacturers (OEMs; vehicle manufacturing) and mainstream tier-1 suppliers, providing regional coverage of Beijing, Shanghai, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and other regions, which ensures the representativeness and extensiveness of the questionnaire
