Knot
Overall view of long side; Cosimo Cavallaro works in a variety of media, creating large-scale works. Knot is a complex sculpture made of twisted sections of sandblasted steel tubes. The tubes are sealed at the ends and coated with a rust patina. Weighing 2,400 pounds, the intricately intertwined piece symbolizes the entanglement of human emotions and conveys a sense of confusion and an inability to resolve feelings or articulate thoughts. Down East associate editor Michaela Cavallaro was granted unprecedented access to the Bates College admissions office in Lewiston, where staff chose from a record number of applications for the college class of 2011. The decision-making process is likened to an art, and a multitude of qualities presented by applicants are judged for themselves and against goals set by Bates, such as geographical distribution, gender, minority background, and type of school background. Bates filled 37 percent of the class with early admission candidates, and at the end of the process, accepted 27 percent of those who applied. With details on recruiting and other aspects of the admissions process

BR, BA: Amargosa, Sr. Alcides, Fazenda Boqueirão Colonha, light pan trap, 18.viii.2009, ARC et al., 1 male. Remarks. The species has been collected in the municipality of Amargosa.Published as part of Duarte, Tácio & Lecci, Lucas Silveira, 2016, New species and records of Anacroneuria (Plecoptera: Perlidae) from the northeastern semi-arid region of Brazil in Zootaxa 4079 (2) on page 293, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.4079.2.10, http://zenodo.org/record/105059

Anacroneuria amargosa was collected at Serra dos Pireneus and is a new record for Goiás state. This species was originally described in Mid-South Mesoregion of the Bahia state, and the present study expands the distribution to Central Brazil. The collected specimen is similar to the holotype described by Righi-Cavallaro & Froehlich in Righi-Cavallaro et al. (2013) and agrees in color, size, and penial armature shape. As commented by Righi-Cavallaro et al. (2013), the penial armature resembles Anacroneuria boraceiensis Froehlich, 2004.Published as part of Miguel, Marina, Almeida, Lucas Henrique De, Novaes, Marcos Carneiro & Bispo, Pitágoras Da Conceição, 2022, Anacroneuria (Plecoptera: Perlidae) from Central Brazil: new species, new geographic records, and taxonomic notes, pp. 487-506 in Zootaxa 5162 (5) on pages 488-490, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5162.5.2, http://zenodo.org/record/681675

Long Time Evolution of Concentrated Vortex Rings with Large Radius
We study the time evolution of an incompressible fluid with axial symmetry without swirl when the vorticity is sharply concentrated on N annuli of radii of the order of r0 and thickness ε. We prove that when r0 = | log ε|α , α > 1, the vorticity field of the fluid converges for ε → 0 to the point vortex model, in an interval of time which diverges as log | log ε|. This generalizes previous result by Cavallaro and Marchioro in (J Math Phys 62:053102, 2021),
that assumed α > 2 and in which the convergence was proved for short times only
