Problem periodyzacji literatury łacińskiej doby cesarstwa rzymskiego (I–II wiek n.e.)
The article deals with the problem of periodization of Latin literature at the time of the Roman Empire, especially in the first two centuries AD. Having assumed the cyclical nature of phenomena in the field of culture and literature, the author proposes to identify three successive historical-literary phases: [a] the early-imperial period (14–68 AD); [b] the Flavian or liberal period (69–117 AD); [c] the archaizing or Frontonian period (117–192 AD). The scrupulous analysis of the epic, lyric and dramatic works, written in Latin in the first and second centuries AD, clearly documents that the individual literary periods stand in clear opposition to the preceding and following phases. They contain dominant trends, current movements and literary phenomena, distinct from the ones which precede and follow. Ten main differences or similarities between the historical-literary periods are carefully presented in three attached tables (Nos. 1–3).Artykuł podejmuje problem periodyzacji literatury rzymskiej doby cesarstwa rzymskiego, skupiając się na dwóch pierwszych wiekach n.e. Autor, zakładając cykliczność zjawisk w dziedzinie kultury i literatury, proponuje wydzielenie trzech faz historycznoliterackich: [a] okres wczesnoimperialny (14–68 n.e.); [b] okres flawiański lub liberalny (69–117 n.e.); [c] okres archaizujący lub frontoniański (117–192 n.e.). Skrupulatna analiza dzieł epickich, lirycznych i dramatycznych, napisanych po łacinie w pierwszym i drugim stuleciu n.e., jasno dokumentuje że wyróżnione okresy literackie stoją w wyraźnej opozycji do faz poprzedzających i po nich następujących. Występują w nich dominujące prądy i zjawiska literackie, odmienne niż w fazie poprzedzającej i bezpośrednio po nich następującej. Trzy załączone tabele prezentują dziesiątkę głównych odrębności lub podobieństw pomiędzy trzema analizowanymi okresami literarckimi
Diocensis Ponticae habet provincias numero VII – uwagi o monografii diecezji Pontu w IV–VII wieku n.e.
The reviewing article is dedicated to the monograph by Łukasz Smorczewski, Administracja diecezji Pontu w późnym Cesarstwie Rzymskim, Poznań 2019, issued as a 2nd volume of the series “Bibliotheca Classica et Byzantina.” The book by Smorczewski describes the history of Pontus dioecesis in the late Roman Empire from its creation at the beginning of the 4th century till the emergence of a thematic system. The author discusses the problems of shaping the dioecesis in the 4th century, its internal structure, as well as the competences of the head of this territorial unit: the vicar. The author offers a good description of the scientific discussion of the problems connected to that territorial unit of the Empire. An important part of the Smorczewski\u27s monograph is played by prosopographical studies, placed at the end of this book.

Shifting aspect or elevation? The climate change response of ectotherms in a complex mountain topography
Aim: Climate change is expected to cause mountain species to shift their ranges to higher elevations. Due to the decreasing amounts of habitats with increasing elevation, such shifts are likely to increase their extinction risk. Heterogeneous mountain topography, however, may reduce this risk by providing microclimatic conditions that can buffer macroclimatic warming or provide nearby refugia. As aspect strongly influences the local microclimate, we here assess whether shifts from warm south-exposed aspects to cool north-exposed aspects in response to climate change can compensate for an upward shift into cooler elevations. Location: Switzerland, Swiss Alps. Methods: We built ensemble distribution models using high-resolution climate data for two mountain-dwelling viviparous ectotherms, the Alpine salamander and the Common lizard, and projected them into various future scenarios to gain insights into distributional changes. We further compared elevation and aspect (northness) of current and predicted future locations to analyse preferences and future shifts. Results: Future ranges were consistently decreasing for the lizard, but for the salamander they were highly variable, depending on the climate scenario and threshold rule. Aspect preferences were elevation-dependent: warmer, south-exposed microclimates were clearly preferred at higher compared to lower elevations. In terms of presence and future locations, we observed both elevational upward shifts and northward shifts in aspect. Under future conditions, the shift to cooler north-exposed aspects was particularly pronounced at already warmer lower elevations. Main conclusions: For our study species, shifts in aspect and elevation are complementary strategies to mitigate climatic warming in the complex mountain topography. This complements the long-standing view of elevational upward shift being their only option to move into areas with suitable future climate. High-resolution climate data are critical in heterogeneous environments to identify microrefugia and thereby improving future impact assessments of climate change
Present and future Köppen-Geiger climate classification maps at 1-km resolution
New global maps of the Köppen-Geiger climate classification at an unprecedented 1-km resolution for the present day (1980–2016) and for projected future conditions (2071–2100) under climate change. The maps are stored in GeoTIFF format as unsigned 8-bit integers. We also provide a legend file (legend.txt) linking the numeric values in the maps to the Köppen-Geiger climate symbols. Please cite the following paper when using the maps in any publication: Beck,

The Diffusion of Bt Cotton and the Economic Impact on Producers
The objective is to present the economic impact of producers adopting Bt cotton and the rapid diffusion on the main producing countries: USA, China and India. The existing literature about this type of transgenic crop has been revised and the results of different research are presented. Bt cotton varieties have been quickly adopted by the countries in this study. Data show that this technology helps reduce production losses and significantly decrease the use of pesticides, thus saving their cost and the associated labour cost. But the total cost reduction is weak due to the high prices of the seeds incorporating this technology.Innovation diffusion, Bt cotton, Crop Production/Industries,
