Volatile flavor components and physicochemical indexes of Syrah grapes from Changli and Gaotai region

    No full text
Using the 'Syrah' grape fruits from Changli, Hebei and Gaotai, Gansu as test materials, the changes of physicochemical indicators and volatile aroma components during the development period of 'Syrah' grape fruits in the two production areas were analyzed by conventional method and HS-SPME-GC-MS. The volatile aroma components were subjected to hierarchical clustering analysis (HCA) and principal component analysis (PCA). The results showed that the flowering period of grapes in Gaotai production area was later than that in Changli production area, and the accumulation of soluble solids and overall titratable acid content in grapes was relatively faster and higher than that in Changli production area. A total of 97 volatile aroma components were detected during the fruit development process of 'Syrah' grapes in two production areas, and the volatile substances could be divided into three categories by HCA. The first category mainly consisting of C6 substances, the Changli production area was higher than the Gaotai production area, with contents ranging from 29.3% to 37.7% and 28.4% to 36.8%, respectively. The second category consists of some C13 isoprenoids and most terpenes, with the highest content of (E)-β-sitone in the Gaotai production area (73.74 μg/L) compared to the Changli production area (53.28 μg/L). The third category consists of some terpenes and esters, and the content of these aromatic substances tends to be the same in the two production areas as the fruit matured. Principal component analysis could distinguish samples from different production areas and developmental stages. In summary, the accumulation time of volatile aroma compounds in the 'Syrah' grape fruit in the Gaotai and Changli production areas was generally earlier than that in the Changli production area, and the total accumulation amount was significantly higher than that in the Changli production area

Diversity of soil fungi in the vineyards of Changli region in China

This study aimed to elucidate the fungal diversity in Changli vineyard soil in China. High-throughput sequencing technology was used to investigate the diversity and composition of soil fungi in five vineyards at different geographical locations of Changli. Although the five vineyards had similar fungal communities, diversity, the composition and distribution of high-abundance species differed. Ascomycota, Basidiomycota and Mortierellomycota were the dominant phyla. Among the14 high-abundance genera of fungi, Odiodendron, Pleotrichocladium and Plectosephalella were rarely reported in other vineyards and are the unique species from Changli region. In addition, Solicoccozyma aeria and Solicoccozyma terrea were the dominant species in five vineyards and were rarely reported in domestic vineyards. Additionally, Rhizophagus, Wardomyces, Mortierella, Volutella and Cryptococcus were significantly different in the five vineyard soils. Among these species, Mortierella was highly abundant in each vineyard, but its contents were significantly different across vineyards. These findings enriched the information on the composition and diversity of soil fungi in the vineyard of Changli region, which helped to explore the regional or distinctive sensorial attributes of wine from the perspective of microbial biogeography. The presentation of the authors' names and (or) special characters in the title of the pdf file of the accepted manuscript may differ slightly from what is displayed on the item page. Groundwater vulnerability assessment based on modified DRASTIC model: a case study in Changli County, China

    No full text
Groundwater vulnerability assessment has been regarded as the initial step to understand and evaluate the susceptibility of the subsurface to contamination. As one of the most widely used models, the DRASTIC has been applied worldwide. However, problems associated with the model, such as the subjectivity in rating and weighting schemes, have led to modified versions of this model for better representing the vulnerability of the aquifer. In this study, a modified DRASTIC model was formulated by adjusting the rating and weighting scores based on Wilcoxon rank-sum test and Analytic Hierarchy Process. The modified model was then applied to the evaluation of groundwater vulnerability in Changli County, China in a GIS environment. The validity of the model was verified by analysing the correlation coefficient between the vulnerability index and the nitrate concentration. The results revealed that the modified DRASTIC model presents stronger correlation with the nitrate contamination than the traditional DRASTIC model

A New Historicist Study of the Bluest Eye

    No full text
Abstract: This paper analyzes Toni Morrison’s debut novel The Bluest Eye with the theory of New Historicism. From the perspective of “text history”, the novel reproduces the plight of African Americans and participates in the reconstruction of history. From the perspective of “historical textuality”, the novel deconstructs the official discourse, and shows the unique black culture to regain the voice of black people in the state of aphasia. The politically-oriented new historicism opens a fresh viewpoint to understand American society. Keywords: The Bluest Eye; New Historicism; historicity of text; textuality of history. Assessment of Habitat Suitability for Amphioxus in the Changli Marine Reserve and Adjacent Coastal Waters, Hebei Province

    No full text
Amphioxus, a key model organism in vertebrate evolution, is essential for understanding ecological balance and species diversity. This study examined the spatiotemporal distribution of Branchiostoma japonicum and assessed its habitat suitability in the Changli Golden Coast Nature Reserve and adjacent coastal waters from 2008 to 2023 (excluding 2020). The maximum abundance showed marked fluctuations, with a sharp decline between 2008 and 2015 followed by recovery after 2016, reaching a peak of 345 ind./m2 in 2022. The average abundance also increased, peaking at 34 ind./m2 in 2022. Spatially, the higher abundances occurred in central stations, while peripheral sites were much lower, sometimes absent. Spearman’s correlation and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) identified sediment grain size (1~0.25 mm), water depth and sediment sulfide as key environmental factors. A habitat suitability index (HSI), constructed using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), showed higher values in central stations, indicating more favorable conditions. These findings highlight the importance of long-term monitoring, clarify the ecological requirements of amphioxus, and provide guidance for habitat conservation and management in regions affected by environmental change and human activities

Parameterizing Unconditional Skewness in Models for Financial Time Series

    No full text
In this paper we consider the third-moment structure of a class of time series models. It is often argued that the marginal distribution of financial time series such as returns is skewed. Therefore it is of importance to know what properties a model should possess if it is to accommodate unconditional skewness. We consider modeling the unconditional mean and variance using models that respond nonlinearly or asymmetrically to shocks. We investigate the implications of these models on the third-moment structure of the marginal distribution as well as conditions under which the unconditional distribution exhibits skewness and nonzero third-order autocovariance structure. In this respect, an asymmetric or nonlinear specification of the conditional mean is found to be of greater importance than the properties of the conditional variance. Several examples are discussed and, whenever possible, explicit analytical expressions provided for all third-order moments and cross-moments. Finally, we introduce a new tool, the shock impact curve, for investigating the impact of shocks on the conditional mean squared error of return series. Copyright The Author 2008. No full text
International audienceA newly developed smart sensor node that can monitor physiological signals for unrestrained dairy cattle is designed through modular design and its advantages are compact structure and small volume. This sensor node is based on a MSP430F133 micro-controller; the digital sensor includes temperature sensor (DS18B20-America) and vibration-displacement sensor (DN series China); transmission of the digital data uses the nRF903. The results show that this node can collect physiological signals for unrestrained dairy cattle and then send it to upper network node. This research can provide better hardware platform for further researching the communication protocols of wireless sensor networks
