Felicidade hedónica e eudaimónica: um estudo com adolescentes

adolescentes. Para tal, propomo-nos explorar, de uma forma aprofundada e holística, o que é que os
adolescentes entendem por felicidade, quais os fatores passíveis de conferir significado às suas vidas e
as razões inerentes ao significado atribuído a esses fatores, assim como perceber as várias relações
entre a Felicidade, Significado e Satisfação com a Vida.
Para a concretização destes objetivos foi utilizado um instrumento que procura aceder,
qualitativamente e quantitativamente, aos componentes hedónicos e eudaimónicos da Felicidade
(EHHI: Delle Fave, Brdar, Freire, Vella-Brodrick, Wissing, 2011; versão portuguesa: Freire e Tavares,
2011) e um instrumento de autorrelato para avaliar a Satisfação com a Vida (SWLS: Diener, Emmons,
Larsen & Griffin, 1985; versão portuguesa: Neto, 1993). A amostra em estudo foi constituída por 216
adolescentes que frequentam o ensino secundário, com uma média de idade de 16.6 (DP = 1.2), sendo
que 148 (68,5%) são do sexo feminino e 68 (31,5%) do sexo masculino.
Os resultados qualitativos mostraram que a definição de felicidade nos adolescentes engloba
dimensões psicológicas, onde se destacam as Emoções/Sentimentos, Satisfação/Realização e
Harmonia/Equilíbrio; e engloba aspetos relacionados com os domínios da vida, com especial enfoque
nas Relações Interpessoais, Vida em Geral e Família. As dimensões psicológicas foram ligeiramente
mais enfatizadas na definição de felicidade. No que diz respeito ao significado, houve também um
notório destaque das categorias relacionais (Relações Interpessoais e Família) e, ainda, na Educação.
Os motivos subjacentes à atribuição de significado assentam fundamentalmente na Vida Pessoal. Já os
resultados quantitativos permitiram perceber que a felicidade, significado e satisfação com a vida
contribuem de forma diferenciada mas complementar para o bem-estar.
Estes resultados são discutidos com recurso à literatura assente nas perspetivas hedónicas e
eudaimónicas vigentes no estudo do bem-estar, contribuindo para uma compreensão holística dos
vários componentes que contribuem e que estão envolvidos na Felicidade de adolescentes.The main purpose of the present study is to explore the conceptualizations of happiness among
adolescents. To do so, we propose to explore, in a deep and holistic way, what it is that adolescents
understand by happiness, which factors can give meaning to their lives and the reasons inherent to the
meaning given to those factors, as well as understanding the several connections between Happiness,
Meaning and Satisfaction with life.
In order to achieve these goals, we used an instrument that tries to access, qualitatively and
quantitatively, the hedonic and eudaimonic components of Happiness (EHHI: Delle Fave, Brdar,
Freire, Vella-Brodrick, Wissing, 2011; Portuguese version: Freire & Tavares, 2011) and a self-report
instrument to evaluate the Satisfaction with Life (SWLS: Diener, Emmons, Larsen & Griffin, 1985;
Portuguese version: Neto, 1993). The sample studied was constituted of 216 adolescents, with mean
age of 16.6 (DP = 1.2) and attending the three years of high school, being 148 (68,5%) female and the
other 68 (31,5%) male.
The qualitative results show that the definition of happiness amongst adolescents includes
psychological dimensions, the most significant ones being Emotions/Feelings,
Satisfaction/Achievement and Harmony/Balance; also includes the life domains, with special focus on
Interpersonal Relations, Life in General and Family. The psychological dimensions were slightly more
emphasized in the definition of happiness. Concerning the meaning, there was also a clear standout in
the relational categories (Interpersonal Relations and Family) and also in Education. The underlying
motifs to the attribution of meaning lie mostly in Personal Life. The quantitative results allowed
understanding that happiness, meaning and satisfaction with life contribute in a different but
complementary way to the well-being.
These results are discussed using literature based on current hedonic and eudaimonic
perspectives on the study of well-being, contributing for a holistic understanding of the various
components that contribute and are involved in the happiness of adolescents
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
