Potenzialità di misura e scoperta ad LHC con CMS e ATLAS
Le misure principali degli esperimenti ATLAS e CMS sono rivolte alla comprensione del meccanismo di rottura di simmetria nell’interazione elettrodebole. La sensibilità di misura in tutto l’intervallo permesso dello spazio dei parametri per la scoperta delle particelle associate a tale meccanismo, che sia quella prevista dal Modello Standard oppure quelle derivate dai modelli supersimmetrici è stata quindi oggetto di approfondito studio. La previsione dell’esistenza da parte di molti modelli di nuovi processi fisici ad energie dell’ordine del TeV, ha portato anche allo studio delle possibilità di rivelazione di particelle supersimmetriche o nuovi bosoni di gauge. Verrano esaminati i principali scenari di scoperta e la relativa sensibilità di misura

Commissioning and Integration Status of CMS: Beam and Cosmics tests
The various parts of the detectors composing the CMS experiment are currently being assembled on the surface and must be delivered by the end of Summer 2007. The delivery of a working detector demands careful testing and commissioning of all the components. Beam and cosmics tests are performed on newly assembled parts in order to ensure their correct performance. In addition CMS carried on a good detector integration test with a ong cosmics data taking period. About 5\% of the detector was centrally readout and controlled by means of the final tools developed by the DAQ/DCS/DQM groups, profiting of the CMS closure needed to map the magnetic field. This paper reports on the currently ongoing activities aiming to verify detector setup using beam and cosmic tests, as well as on the preliminary results of the full integration test during magnet commissioning

A proposal for the upgrade of the muon drift tubes trigger for the CMS experiment at the HL-LHC
A major upgrade of the readout and trigger electronics of the CMS Drift Tubes muon detector is foreseen in order to allow its efficient operation at the High Luminosity LHC. A proposal for a new L1 Trigger Primitives Generator for this detector is presented, featuring an algorithm operating on the time of charge collection measurements provided by the asynchronous readout of the new TDC system being developed. The algorithm is being designed around the implementation in state-of-the-art FPGA devices of the original development of a Compact Hough Transform (CHT) algorithm combined with a Majority Mean-Timer, to identify both the parent bunch crossing and the muon track parameters. The current state of the design is presented along with the performance requirements, focusing on the future developments
