Establishing an Internet Based Paediatric Cancer Registration and Communication System for the Hungarian Paediatric Oncology Network
Cancer registration has developed in Europe over the last 50 years, and in the last decade intensive joint activities between the European Cancer Registries, in response to the need of pan-European harmonization of registration practices, have taken place. The Hungarian Paediatric Cancer Registry has been functioning as the database of the Hungarian Paediatric Oncology Network since 1971, aiming to follow the incidence and the treatment efficacy of malignant diseases. The goals of this globally unique open source information system are the following: 1) to raise the quality of the registration system to the European level by developing an Internet-based registration and communication system, modernizing the database, establishing automatic statistical analyses and adding an Internet website, 2) to support clinical epidemiological studies that we conduct with international collaborators on detailed analyses of the characteristics of patients and their diseases, evaluation of new diagnostic and therapeutic methods, prevention programs, and long-term quality of life and side effects. The benefits of the development of the Internet-based registration and communication system are as follows: a) introduction of an Internet-based case reporting system, b) modernization of the registry database according to international recommendations, c) automatic statistical summaries, encrypted mail systems, document repository, d) application of data security and privacy standards, e) establishment of a website and compilation of educational materials. The overall objective of this scientific project is to contribute towards the improvement of cancer prevention and cancer care for the benefit of the public in general and of cancer patients in particular

Virtual prototype of electro-magnetic actuator for vibrations damping
V ďalšej časti tejto práce bolo vytvorené prepojenie týchto dvoch programov a následne v co-simulácii bolo zistené, nakoľko efektívne dokáže daný elektromagnetický aktuátor tlmiť vibrácie. This thesis deals with the design and construction of a virtual prototype of an electromagnetic actuator for vibration damping. By using FEMM, an electromagnetic analysis was performed to obtain critical parameters for future simulations. Furthermore, a MATLAB/Simulink-based mechatronic model was designed and a flexible body model was created by using MSC ADAMS. In the next part of this work a connection between these two software was established and afterwards this co-simulation showed, how effective is the damping of vibrations when using this electromagnetic actuator.
Ultrasound and dynamic functional imaging in vascular cognitive impairment and alzheimer's disease
Background: The vascular contributions to neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation may be assessed by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasonography (US).
This consensus statement summarizes the methodology for these widely available, safe and relatively low cost tools and reviews recent work highlighting their potential utility as biomarkers for differentiating subtypes of cognitive impairment and dementia, tracking disease progression, and evaluating response to treatment in various neurocognitive disorders.
Methods: At the 9th International Congress on Vascular Dementia Ljubljana, Slovenia, October 2015) a writing group of experts was formed to develop a consensus statement on the utility of US and arterial spin labeling (ASL) as neurophysiological markers of normal ageing, vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). Original articles, systematic literature reviews, guidelines and expert opinions published until January 2016 were critically analysed to summarize existing evidence, indicate gaps in current knowledge, and, when appropriate, suggest standards of use for the most widely used US and ASL applications.
Results: Cerebral hypoperfusion has been linked to cognitive decline either as a risk or an aggravating factor. Hypoperfusion as a consequence of microangiopathy, macroangiopathy or cardiac dysfunction, can promote or accelerate neurodegeneration, blood-brain barrier disruption and neuroinflammation. US can evaluate the cerebrovascular tree for pathological structure and functional changes contributing to cerebral hypoperfusion. Microvascular pathology and hypoperfusion at the level of capillaries and small arterioles can also be assessed by ASL, an MRI-
signal. Despite increasing evidence supporting the utility of these methods in detection of microvascular pathology, cerebral hypoperfusion, neurovascular unit dysfunction and, most importantly, disease progression, incomplete standardization and missing validated cut off values limit their use in daily routine. Conclusions: US and ASL are promising tools with excellent temporal resolution, which will have a significant impact on our understanding of the vascular contributions to VCI and AD and may also be relevant for assessing future prevention and therapeutic strategies for these conditions. Our final conclusion refers to recommendations regarding the use of non-invasive imaging techniques to investigate the functional consequences of vascular burden in dementia
