    This is an Author's Accepted Manuscript of an article published in Journalism Practice, 5(4), 462 - 477, 2011, copyright Taylor & Francis, available online at: http://www.tandfonline.com/10.1080/17512786.2010.551020.This paper represents an exploratory study into an emerging culture in UK online newsrooms—the practice of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), which assesses its impact on news production. Comprising a short-term participant observational case study at a national online news publisher, and a series of semi-structured, in-depth interviews with SEO professionals at three further UK media organisations, the author sets out to establish how SEO is operationalised in the newsroom, and what consequences these practices have for online news production. SEO practice is found to be varied and application is not universal. Not all UK news organisations are making the most of SEO even though some publishers take a highly sophisticated approach. Efforts are constrained by time, resources and management support, as well as off-page technical issues. SEO policy is found, in some cases, to inform editorial policy, but there is resistance to the principal of SEO driving decision-making.     Suppressing Anion Repulsion for Enhancing Li-Mediated Nitrogen Reduction

    Electrochemical lithium-mediated nitrogen reduction (Li-NRR) presents a sustainable alternative to Haber-Bosch for ammonia synthesis. Efficiency and stability are critically governed by the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), which regulates reactant transport and suppresses side reactions. While anion-derived SEI formed under anion-rich solvation is beneficial, conventional electric double layer (EDL) repel anion at the cathode, limiting favorable SEI formation. Therefore, this study introduces cationic ionomer additives that form a positively charged ionic interfacial layer, mitigating anion repulsion and reducing interfacial solvent accumulation. An imidazolium (C3H4N2)-functionalized cation ionomer enables the formation of a tailored EDL, achieving a Faradaic efficiency and ammonia yield of 92 +/- 3% and 58 +/- 4 nmol s-1 cm-2, markedly surpassing the conventional EDL (63 +/- 7%, 28 +/- 9 nmol s-1 cm-2). A significant decrease in anion repulsion was confirmed via computational and in situ spectroscopic analyses. The demonstrated applicability across various lithium salts clearly reveals the overall effectiveness of this cationic ionomer-based EDL engineering in Li-NRR.

    Universal hydrogel adhesives with robust chain entanglement for bridging soft electronic materials

    Ensuring stable integration of diverse soft electronic components for reliable operation under dynamic conditions is crucial. However, integrating soft electronics, comprising various materials like polymers, metals, and hydrogels, poses challenges due to their different mechanical and chemical properties. This study introduces a dried-hydrogel adhesive made of poly(vinyl alcohol) and tannic acid multilayers (d-HAPT), which integrates soft electronic materials through moisture-derived chain entanglement. d-HAPT is a thin (similar to 1 mu m) and highly transparent (over 85% transmittance in the visible light region) adhesive, showing robust bonding (up to 3.6 MPa) within a short time (<1 min). d-HAPT demonstrates practical application in wearable devices, including a hydrogel touch panel and strain sensors. Additionally, the potential of d-HAPT for use in implantable electronics is demonstrated through in vivo neuromodulation and electrocardiographic recording experiments while confirming its biocompatibility both in vitro and in vivo. It is expected that d-HAPT will provide a reliable platform for integrating soft electronic applications.

    Práce se zabývá problematikou optimalizace pro vyhledávač Google a s ní spojenou problematikou vyhledávání. Rozebírá nejdůležitější techniky SEO a jejich efekty. Celý teoretický základ tvoří ucelený přehled problematiky SEO, který je zasazen do kontextu ostatních souvisejících disciplín. Práce se opatrně snaží vytyčit směr, kterým se SEO bude vyvíjet v následujících letech. Vymezený teoretický rámec, je následně ověřen na případové studii, která v poslední chvíli umožnila zčásti potvrdit i naznačenou budoucí podobu SEO. Účelem práce bylo rozebíranou problematiku popsat netradičně s menším důrazem na technické detaily a s větším důrazem na pochopení dlouhodobější strategie optimalizací pro vyhledávače. Cílem případové studie bylo prokázat vliv aplikace teoretických poznatků v praxi. Teoretické poznatky v této práci jsou výsledkem syntézy myšlenek užšího spektra autorů, kteří vhodně chápou kontext a smysl SEO. Shodou okolností se autorovi povedlo tuto syntézu myšlenek, ve které vycházel i z jeho vlastních zkušeností, prokázat na události, která uzavírá případovou studii. V práci je prokázán vliv optimalizací pro vyhledávače na nárůst návštěvnosti a obratu internetového obchodu a byl pozorován zpožděný negativní vliv manipulativního jednání za účelem ošálení vyhledávačů.Thesis describes search engine optimization for Google and principles of search. It clears up the most important optimization techniques and its effects. The theoretical part makes a consistent summary of SEO situated in the context of other related disciplines. The thesis cautiously tries predicting the direction of SEO development in next few years. Theoretical scope is verified in a case study that made possible to prove the mentioned future prediction of SEO development. The goals were to describe the topic in a nonconventional way with less focus on technical details and more emphasis on the understanding of long-term SEO strategy in search engines. Main goal of the case study was to prove the impact of theoretical knowledge applied in practice. Theory in this thesis is an outcome of synthesized narrow spectra of ideas of authors who understand the context and the point of SEO in the proper way. By a chance the author managed to prove his synthesis on an occurrence closing the case study. Thesis proves the effects of search engine optimization on e-commerce traffic and sales growth and observes the negative effect of manipulative behavior for the purpose of search engine deception

The photodetachment spectra of SeDSeD^{-} displays transitions from the X2ΠX^{2}\Pi state of SeOSeO^{-} to both the X3ΣX^{3}\Sigma^{-} and a1Δa^{1}\Delta states of SeO. The singlet-triplet splitting of SeO is readily observable since selection rules regarding spin do not apply in the bound to free state process of photodetachment. The electron affinity of SeO and the negative ion potential parameters of SeDSeD^{-} have been determined

    [[abstract]]本文實驗採用交叉式偏光顯微鏡附屬石膏版,觀察出K■Na(SeO■)■晶體 之鐵彈區域於溫度333K時,晶體鐵彈區域有所變化晶體鐵彈區域邊界逐漸 變成模糊,但仍能明顯看出晶體未變成全部消光,呈緩慢性變化,至約343K 左右,整個晶體才變成完全消光。室溫時K■Na(SeO■)■晶體由鐵彈相晶 軸[100]方向外加壓縮力,觀察鐵彈區域之區界及光影圈的變化情形,在足 夠應力下,能使整個晶體變為單一鐵彈區域D■,且此區域之二重軸垂直於 應力方向。當應力為晶軸[010]方向之壓縮力時,會發現K■Na(SeO■)■晶 體在足夠應 鐵彈區域(D■,D■)共存的現象,且以x=0,y=0之區界存在。利 用已測得之291K鐵彈相及390K初始相的結構參數,來計算K■Na(SeO■)■ 之自發應變張量分量值為2.83×10■,其值僅約一般鐵彈物質之千分之一, 此結果符合鐵彈相變時存在偶合現象之理論。同時我們亦討論此鐵彈物 質 K■Na(SeO■)■相變過程和受力時晶體中原子之轉變過程,其結果與實 驗現象符合。 In the thesis we report the observation of the evolution of the domain structure in K■Na(SeO■)■ with temperature using a cros- sed polariser with accessory Gypsum plate.The domain walls become ambiguous,but they are still distinguishable at 333K.The wholes of crystal become extinct about 343K.The change of domain struct- ure in optical observation is not sharp.When mechanical stress of compression X■ is applied on K■Na(SeO■) ■ at room temperature ,in monoclinic consideration it cooresponds to [100],then the switching process occurs in such a way that D■ and D■ domain disappear and D■ occupies more and more volume of the crystal.If we keep increasing X■,then the monodomain is attained and its 2- fold axis(b-axis) is perpendicular to the orientation of stress. When mechanical stress of compression X■ is applied, in monocli- nic consideration it cooresponds to [010],then the switching pro- cess occurs in such a way that D■ domain disappears, and D■ and D■ occupy equal volumes of the crystal and by formation of doma- ins walls W■(y=0),W■(x=0),which divide neighboring orientation- al states D■ and D■.Calculating the components of spontaneous strain tensor,we obtain the result that the magnitude of e■,2.83×10■,is only about 1/10■of general ferroelastic crystals,which agrees with the theory of coupling in ferroelastic phase transi- tion.The deformation patterns of the structure phase transition and external mechanical stress in K■Na(SeO■)■ are also discus- sed in the thesis,the results are agreement with the phenomena of experiments.
