A cone C in a vector space has a Yudin basis {ei}i∈I if every c ∈ C can be written uniquely in the form c = Σi∈Iλiei, where λi ≥ 0 for each i ∈ I and λi = 0 for all but finitely many i. A Yudin cone is a cone with a Yudin basis. Yudin cones arise naturally since the cone generated by an arbitrary family {ei}i∈I of linearly independent vectors C = {∑i∈Iλiei: λi ≥ 0 for each I and λi = 0 for all but finitely many i} is always a Yudin cone having the family { ei}iEJ as a Yudin basis. The Yudin cones possess several remarkable order and topological properties. Here is a list of some of these properties. 1. A Yudin cone C is a lattice cone in the vector subspace it generates M = C - C. 2. A closed generating cone in a two-dimensional vector space is always a Yudin cone. 3. If the cone of a Riesz space is a Yudin cone, then the lattice operations of the space are given pointwise relative to the Yudin basis. 4. If a Riesz space has a Yudin cone, then the inductive limit topology generated by the finite dimensional subspaces is a Hausdorff order continuous locally convex-solid topology. 5. In a Riesz space with a Yudin cone the order intervals lie in finite dimensional Riesz subspaces (and so they are all compact with respect to any Hausdorff linear topology on the space). The notion of a Yudin basis originated in studies on the optimality and efficiency of competitive securities markets in the provision of insurance for investors against risk or price uncertainty.• It is a natural extension to incomplete markets of Arrow's notion of a basis for complete markets, i.e., markets where full insurance against risk can be purchased. The obtained results have immediate applications to competitive securities markets. Especially, they are sufficient for establishing the efficiency of stock markets as a means for insuring against risk or price uncertainty

This work aims to rescue from oblivion the history of cadaveric blood transfusions and the figure of its main protagonist, Sergei Yudin. For this reason, an extensive review of bibliographic sources in Russian and other languages is carried out to describe Yudin’s life trajectory and his scientific work. The idea originated from Vladimir Shamov’s transfusion experiences in dogs and started clinically in 1930 by Yudin at the Sklifosovsky Institute of Emergency Medicine in Moscow, where human cadaveric blood transfusions were performed on a regular basis for four decades. The conservation of this blood for several weeks allowed the creation of the first blood bank in the world and was the starting point of clinical transplants, considering that blood is a special tissue. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, Yudin traveled to Germany, France, Spain and England and enjoyed great prestige in international medical circles, including Catalan and Spanish. The course of his life was arduous, going from being the most prestigious surgeon in the Soviet Union to ostracism after being imprisoned in 1948 and later exiled to Siberia.

    Generalized Goldberg Formula

In this paper we prove a useful formula for the graded commutator of the Hodge codifferential with the left wedge multiplication by a fixed p-form acting on the de Rham algebra of a Riemannian manifold. Our formula generalizes a formula stated by Samuel I. Goldberg for the case of 1-forms. As first examples of application we obtain new identities on locally conformally Mier manifolds and quasi-Sasakian manifolds. Moreover, we prove that under suitable conditions a certain subalgebra of differential forms in a compact manifold is quasi-isomorphic as a CDGA to the full de Rham algebra

ETHNOLINGUISTIC STUDY OF SLAVIC FOLK CULTURE: THE PROBLEM OF DEFINITION; Aleksey Yudin; The article concerns problems which occur when so-called "cognitive definition" is used in analyses of modern discourses. In the first part of the article a historical survey of the development of Western and Eastern versions of Ethnolinguistics has been given. Attention was paid to the methodology used by Jerzy Bartmiński, the founder of the idea of the "cognitive definition". The influence of discourse on the semantics of ideologically important lexemes is shown. The author also examines other methodological questions which occur during the preparation of a contrastive axiological dictionary, and particularly the levels of analysis of textual material

On projective resolutions of simple modules over the Borel subalgebra S+(n,r) of the Schur algebra S(n,r) for n⩽3

AbstractWe construct projective resolutions for simple modules over the Borel subalgebras S+(2,r) and S+(3,r) of the Schur algebras S(2,r) and S(3,r) over a field of positive characteristic. In the case S+(2,r) we get a minimal projective resolution. We find also projective resolutions of minimal possible length for Weyl modules over the Schur algebra S(2,r), corresponding to the regular weights
