Estudio florístico – palinológico en las localidades de Huarán y Cuyo Grande del Valle Sagrado de los Incas (Cusco, Perú).
El objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la flora palinológica en las localidades de Huarán y Cuyo Grande delValle Sagrado de los Incas y contribuir al conocimiento palinológico en la región Cusco. Se identificaron en total 120 especies fanerogámicas dentro de un área de 1 000 metros de radio alrededor de dichas localidades, durante los meses de enero-abril y julio-octubre de 2013. A partir de las flores obtenidas, se extrajo el polen contenido en ellas para luego realizar preparaciones microscópicas acetolizadas. La observación de los caracteres polínicos se ejecutó sobre 25 granos de polen por especie, tomándose medidas de eje polar (P), plano ecuatorial (E) y algunos elementos esculturales, además se recabaron datos del tipo de polen, ornamentación de la exina y descripción del tamaño del grano de polen; la forma se determinó como la relación P/E. Para los datos cuantitativos se utilizaron los estadísticos descriptivos. Asteraceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae, Rosaceae y Solanaceae presentaron mayor número de especies. El tipo de grano de polen más frecuente fue el tricolporado (54.17 %), en cuanto a forma, fue el oblato esferoidal (41.67 %), en patrón de ornamentación de la exina, el más frecuente fue el reticulado (28.33 %) y en cuanto a tamaño, el mediano fue el más recurrente (45.83 %). Estos resultados sugieren que los caracteres analizados tienen importancia taxonómica, permitiendo la clasificación de las especies estudiadas, y que posteriormente pueden ser utilizados en trabajos aplicados sobre palinología
VARIACIÓN INTRANUAL EN EL ESPECTRO POLÍNICO DE LA MIEL PRODUCIDA EN HUARÁN (CUSCO, PERÚ)
Con el fin de determinar cómo varía el espectro polínico de la miel, obtenida en colmenares ubicados en la localidad de Huarán, Cusco, durante la temporada apícola 2012 – 2013, e identificar las fuentes de polen y néctar usadas por Apis mellifera L., se analizaron en total 75 muestras de miel procedentes de 15 colmenas, en las que se realizaron cosechas sucesivas correspondientes a 5 periodos bimestrales de la temporada apícola: periodo I (julio – agosto 2012), periodo II (setiembre – octubre 2012), periodo III (noviembre – diciembre 2012), periodo IV (enero – febrero 2013) y periodo V (marzo – abril 2013); en todos los casos se realizaron preparaciones microscópicas acetolizadas. Los morfotipos polínicos obtenidos fueron reconocidos por comparación con una palinoteca de referencia. El número total de morfotipos polínicos determinados fue de 113: 40 en el periodo I, 55 en el periodo II, 77 en el periodo III, 75 en el periodo IV y 81 en el periodo V; las familias Asteraceae, Fabaceae y Lamiaceae aportaron mayor número de morfotipos. A través de un Análisis de Correspondencia, se evidenció una clara relación entre las especies visitadas por la abeja melífera y los periodos de producción, siendo las principales fuentes de polen y néctar Escallonia resinosa (Ruiz & Pav.) Pers., y Eucalyptus sp. La composición del polen secundario y de menor importancia, fue similar durante toda la temporada. Se destacan Brassicaceae, Prunus sp. y Trifolium sp., en concordancia a sus amplios periodos de floració
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
ESPECTRO POLÍNICO DE LA MIEL PRODUCIDA EN CUYO GRANDE (VALLE SAGRADO DE LOS INCAS, CUSCO, PERÚ)
Se realizó el estudio de 32 muestras de miel procedentes de dos cosechas correspondientes a la temporada apícola 2012 – 2013 en la comunidad de Cuyo Grande, Valle Sagrado de los Incas, Cusco; con el propósito de determinar su espectro polínico mediante análisis melisopalinológico, y a partir de éste identificar las fuentes de polen y néctar usadas por Apis mellifera L. Para ello se realizaron preparaciones microscópicas acetolizadas, los granos de polen obtenidos fueron reconocidos por comparación con una palinoteca de referencia. Se determinaron 53 morfotipos polínicos en la cosecha de octubre – noviembre y 103 en la de marzo – abril. Las familias Asteraceae, Fabaceae y Lamiaceae aportaron mayor número de morfotipos, con Escallonia sp. y Eucalyptus sp., como las principales fuentes de polen y néctar, las mismas que constituyeron mieles monoflorales, coincidiendo con el momento de máxima floración de dichos taxones y acorde a la intensa actividad de las abejas melíferas observada en ellas. Además, se propone a Ambrosia arborescens Miller, Berberis sp., Cantua sp., Colletia spinosissima J.F. Gmel., Nicotiana tomentosa Ruiz & Pav., y Ranunculus sp., en combinación con Escallonia sp. y Eucalyptus sp., como marcadores del origen geográfico de la miel estudiada. La composición del polen secundario y de menor importancia, fue similar para ambas cosechas, se destacan Brassicaceae, Baccharis sp. y Senecio sp., debido a la extensa distribución de estos taxones y a sus amplios y abundantes periodos de floración
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
