No full textThis thesis is to study the political role of the People's Liberation Army from the approach of structure and function. The framework of the thesis consists of three major parts, first, the influence of Chinese traditional political culture on, and the formation of, the political role of the PL A; second, the influence of domestic political struggles and external military conflicts on the development of the political role of the PLA; and the third, the analysis of the transition of the PLA's political role from the structure and personnel arrangements of the CCPCC Within the above-mentioned three scopes, this thesis make a thorough discussion on the following: (1) The relationship between the structure of the PRC and the formation of the PLA's political role; (2) How has ideology influenced the army's political role; (3) What is Mao's viewpoint and his influence on the development of the army's political role; (4) What is the link between the army and the party, and how has this developed; (6) What accounts for the expansion of the PLA's political functions; (7) What is the influence of political factional struggles on the PLA's political role; (8) Is it political institution or military institution that controls the recruitment of the military elite; (9) What are the disparities between the military elite in handling international conflicts and what are their political considerations; (10) What is the Party's position in the army; (11) How have the Party’s important meetings and personnel arrangements influenced the rise and fall of the PLA's political role

A Population-Based Study on the Association between Gastric Ulcers and Erectile Dysfunction in Taiwan

While erectile dysfunction (ED) and cardiovascular disease have long been known to share endothelial dysfunction as a common contributory underlying mechanism, little research has been conducted taking endothelial dysfunction as common ground to investigate the potential association between ED and gastric ulcers (GUs). ;Aim. This population-based case-control study aimed to investigate the association of ED with GU. ;Methods. This study used data from the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000 in Taiwan. The study group comprised 6,906 patients who visited ambulatory care centers or were hospitalized with a diagnosis of ED. The comparison group was 20,718 randomly selected enrollees. Conditional logistic regression was used to examine associations between ED and prior GU. ;Main Outcome Measure. The prevalence and risk between cases and controls were calculated of having been previously diagnosed with GU. ;Results. Of the sampled subjects, 3,861 (14%) were diagnosed before the index date, 1,358 (19.7%) were cases, and 2,503 (12.1%) were controls (P < 0.001). After adjusting for hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, renal disease, coronary heart disease, obesity, alcohol abuse/alcohol dependence syndrome, and socioeconomic status (SES), conditional logistic regression analysis revealed that cases were more likely to have been diagnosed with GU than controls (odds ratio [OR] = 1.65, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.53-1.77). Stratification by age revealed that the youngest group (18-29) of ED patients had the most increased likelihood of having been previously diagnosed with GU when compared with matched controls (OR = 4.12, 95% CI = 2.41-7.03). The likelihood decreased with age, with the oldest group of ED patients having the least increased likelihood of prior GU when compared with matched controls (OR = 1.44, 95% CI = 1.23-1.68). ;Conclusion. Type depository: NMNST. Eutetrapha lini; Lin, 2015: 276, figs. 1859432–434. Description. Male: length: 13.2–14.0 mm, humeral width: 4.2–4.4 mm. Female: length: 13.8–16.0 mm, humeral width: 4.7–5.3 mm. Details refer to Chou et al. (2010). Diagnosis. This species differs from Paraglenea spp. by male with only anterior claws of pro- and mesotarsi appendiculate, remainders all simple (all male claws in Paraglenea appendiculate). It is similar to Eutetrapha chrysochloris (Bates, 1879), but can be distinguished by metallic blue to purple blue scales, larger and sparser elytral punctures, almost rounded black arc on apical half of elytra, hardly visible elytral apical tooth at the outer angle, etc., and on genitalia distinguished by stouter lateral lobes of tegmen, nearly rounded apex of ventral plate etc. Remarks. Eutetrapha lini is a nocturnal species, being attracted by light trap. We believe it is probably monophagous (Chou et al. 2010). Distribution. China: Taiwan. 的食用真菌，茭白筍為本省重要之夏季蔬菜。1981年林及張由解剖學進行茭白筍與非
感染株莖組織之比較觀察，發現茭白組織由於菰黑穗菌菌絲之侵入，將菌絲週圍之細
胞擠壓形成菌腔，由於細胞數目及大小的變化，及菌腔週圍之組織被誘導產生許多異
常形成層，因而認為有某種植物生長素，在此膨大過程直接或間接地參與作用；此外
1982年呂及張利用掃描電子顯微鏡觀察，此菌在茭白筍組織中增生情形，情形亦同。
基於解剖學的觀點，本論文乃著重於探討可以刺激細胞分裂的細胞分裂素，利用高效
液用色層分析儀及生物分析方法，檢定茭白筍中細胞分裂素的量及生物活性。結果發
現游離態的細胞分裂素量甚少或不存在，而鍵結的細胞分裂素其量感染植株較非感染
株高，並且這檢定出的細胞分裂素是具有生物活性的，同時在黑穗菌上亦有發現鍵結
