    Rosa tomurensis L. Luo, C. Yu & Q. X. Zhang (Figures 3, 4, 5) Type: — CHINA. Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Akesu Prefecture, Wensu County, Tuomuerfeng Natural Preservation Areas, in river valleys, ca. 1800m, 10 June 2017, L. Luo, C. Yu, Y. J. Sui, F. Yang & S. Zhao 171022 (holotype BJFC00107674!). Diagnosis: — R. tomurensis is different from R. laxa in the following characteristics: prickles are rare, single prickles are larger, and the tip of prickles is not curved significantly; leaf blade apex serrate only, subbase one-third entire; flowers often solitary, and single flowers are larger than R. laxa; receptacles purplish red, occasionally green; pedicels very long, purplish red or green; sepals are purplish red or green; hips are larger than R. laxa, often pendulous, hip apex without short neck; hip pedicels slightly inflated at base; sepals abaxially, receptacle and pedicel glandular or glandless together, the glands in the pedicel sometimes shed at anaphase. (Table 2). Description: —Shrubs, erect, 2.5–3 m tall, basal branching. Branchlets slender, brownish red; branchial spines are rare, scattered, rarely opposite, pale yellow and white, unequal in length, slender, broad at base, apex slightly downward curved. Leaflets 5–9, usually 7, elliptic, obovoid, ovoid or oblong, 0.6–2 × 0.5–1 cm, abaxially sparsely pilose, adaxially smooth; leaf margin simple serrate, often entire subbase one-third. Stipules usually wider, base mostly adnate to petiole, free portion ovate, triangulate, margin glandular spot. Flowers often solitary, sometimes 2–3 in corymbose cymes, (3) 3.5–6.5 (7) cm in diam; pedicel 1.5–3.5 cm, pedicel and calyx tube glabrous or tomentose and sparsely glandular hairs; bracts ovate, margin glandular teeth, abaxially with distinct midrib and lateral veins; sepals long lanceolate, margin entire, apex elongated widened into appendages, abaxially glandular and densely tomentose, adaxially densely pubescent, margin more densely; petals white, sparse pink,or pale pink, at bud stage, petal tips are often pink or pale pink. Hip subglobose or ovoid, red, shiny, 1–2.1cm in diam, 1.5–2 cm long, sepals persistent and spreading; fruit pedicel straight or bent. Distribution and habitat: —This species is produced in the Tuomuerfeng Natural Preservation Areas of Wensu County in Aksu Perfecture, the Pamir Plateau Mountain Area of Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture, Tajik Autonomous County of Taxkorgan in Kashgar Prefecture and the south slope of Duku Highway, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It borns in arid mountains, river valleys and riparian thickets, at elevations between 1700 m and 3000 m. The associated woody plants in this area are R. laxa, R. albertii, Berberis sp., Caragana sp., etc. Phenology: —Flowering from June to July, fruiting from August to October. Etymology: —The specific epithet refers to the distribution where the new species was first discovered. Paratypes: — CHINA. Conservation status: —Based on currently available data, the species should be assigned to the ‘Data Deficient’ (DD) category of IUCN (2022).     Chronic Hypoxia Attenuates Ischemia-Reperfusion-Induced Increase in Pulmonary Vascular Resistance

    This study explored the effect of chronic hypoxia on the elevation of pulmonary vascular resistance caused by ischemia-reperfusion (IR) in anesthetized rats. Experiments were separated into five parts. In Part 1, we examined the increase in left pulmonary vascular resistance (Rpl) after ischemia of the left lung and localized the major site for the increased resistance of the left pulmonary vasculature in both the normoxic and chronic hypoxia groups. Here, IR induced a significant increase in Rpl in the normoxic but not the chronic hypoxia group. This increased Rpl in the normoxic group was attributed to contraction of pulmonary arterial segments. Part 2 and Part 3 were focused on the changes in plasma nitrate/ nitrite (NOx) and thromboxane B-2( TxB(2)) levels. TxB(2) increased significantly in the normoxic group, whereas NOx increased significantly in the chronic hypoxia group, following ischemia. Indomethacin ( Part 4) prevented IR-induced increase in Rpl in the normoxic group, whereas the IR -induced increase in Rpl appeared in the chronic hypoxia group after N-G- nitro-L-arginine methyl ester treatment (Part 5). We conclude that IR elicited increases in the cyclooxygenase products such as TxB(2), which in turn caused an increase in Rpl.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Impact of Capsicum annuum L. cv Senise on cholesterol transporters

    Diet high in fatty acids increases plasma total cholesterol and low­density lipoprotein (LDL) concentration causing hyperlipidemia and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, one of the major causes of death worldwide. Cholesterol homeostasis in the body is maintained mainly by de novo synthesis, intestinal absorption, and biliary and fecal excretion [1]. Natural products could influence the lipid transporter expression and related diseases [2]. In the present work, the biological activity of Capsicum annuum L. cv Senise (Solanaceae), a sweet dried pepper of Basilicata region (Italy), was investigated in HepG2 and Caco­2 cells used as liver and intestine model, respectively. The extract showed no cytotoxic effect on both cell line after 24 and 48h evaluated by MTT assay. Then, cells were treated with oleic acid (OA) in presence or absence of different concentrations of C. annuun extract (CAE) and the expression of lipid transporters was evaluated by RT­q­PCR and western blotting. CAE promoted ABCA1 expression in OA­treated HepG2 cell line, a transporter involved in cholesterol reuptake from peripheric tissues. CAE also affected lipid transport through intestinal barrier. Particularly, it drastically up­regulated ABCA1, localized on basolateral membrane of enterocytes, facilitating the efflux of cholesterol to circulation as constituent of HDL, together with ABCG5 and ABCG8, two ABC transporters which promote efflux of cellular cholesterol to intestinal lumen and hepatobiliary secretion. In addition, CAE promoted the expression of LDL receptor in Caco­2 cells. These results suggest as C. annuum cv Senise could be helpful in lowering plasma cholesterol levels and could play an important role in hyperlipidemia ranked as one of the greatest risk factors contributing to prevalence and severity of coronary heart diseases.     Abstract Using e + e − annihilation data sets corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.5 fb −1, collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 GeV, we report the first measurements of the absolute branching fractions B Λ c + → p K L 0 B(Λc+pKL0) \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0\right) = (1.67 ± 0.06 ± 0.04)%, B Λ c + → p K L 0 π + π − B(Λc+pKL0π+π) \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}\right) = (1.69 ± 0.10 ± 0.05)%, and B Λ c + → p K L 0 π 0 B(Λc+pKL0π0) \mathcal{B}\left({\Lambda}_c^{+}\to p{K}_L^0{\pi}^0\right) = (2.02 ± 0.13 ± 0.05)%, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.     Scymnus (Pullus) yunshanpingensis Yu 1997 in Yu et al. 1997 (Yunnan). Distribution. China (Yunnan). Specimens Examined. Types (4 total), Yunnan: Lijiang: Yunshanpin. Other (17 total), Yunnan: Lijiang: Wenbishan (13), Heyuan (3), Yunshanping (1). Remarks. One female has a black, instead of brown, head. This species was abundant on Pinus armandii infested with Pineus sp. This species was found to be a predator of hemlock woolly adelgids in the laboratory and adults laid eggs on hemlock twigs. Scymnus (Pullus) geminus Yu and Montgomery, new species (Fig. 15) Description. Male. Length 2.05 mm, width 1.30 mm. Form oval with sides nearly parallel at middle, dorsum moderately convex. Head brown. Pronotum brown with black rectangular marking at base, nearly reaching anterior margin. Scutellum black. Elytra black with very narrow apical margin brown; each elytron with a pair of opposite comma­shaped reddish brown markings (Fig. 15n). Underside brown with prosternite and meso­ and metathoraces black. Legs brown with middle and hind coxae, hind femur black. Interocular distance slightly less than 1/2 head width. Innerocular margins almost parallel, slightly arcuate. Frons flat, punctation very fine, dense. Antenna 11­segmented, proportions as illustrated (Fig. 15j). Maxillary palpus terminal segment with arcuate sides, distal side slightly oblique. Pronotum punctation slightly coarser than on head. Elytral punctation distincly coarser than head, pubescence arranged in strong S­form. Prosternal carinae distinctly convergent anteriorly. Postcoxal line of first abdominal sternite arcuate, complete, reaching about 3/4 length of sternite; enclosed area finely punctate, posterior 2/3 smooth. Fifth abdominal sternite hind margin truncate; sixth sternite apex nearly truncate. Genitalia: Sipho (Fig. 15a) relatively stout, basal 2/3 arcuate; siphonal capsule with stout outer process, slender inner process; siphonal apex simple, without appendix. Tegmen (Fig. 15b, c) stout; median piece of tegmen nearly parallelsided for basal 4/5, then narrowing apically with a teat­shaped tip, in ventral aspect. In lateral aspect, median piece with tip slightly curved. Lateral lobes of tegmen distinctly shorter than median piece. Female. Similar to holotype except head black, pronotum black with anterior margin and corners brown, or with lateral margin brown; fifth abdominal sternite hind margin slightly arcuate, sixth sternite apex evenly arcuate. Genitalia as illustrated (Fig. 15k, l, m). Variation. Body length 2.00 to 2.10 mm, width 1.25 to 1.35 mm. Pronotum black with lateral sides brown. Elytron with brown or reddish brown irregular area around small black discal spot (Fig. 15o). Distribution. China (Yunnan). Type Series. Holotype: (Ƌ), Yunnan: Lijiang: Wenbishan (26.8 N, 100.2 E), 23­IV­1997, Yao D. et al. leg. (BAAF). Paratypes: (14 total, same data as holotype except) (3 ♀), (1 BAAF, 2 CAF); (1 ♀), 21­IX­1997, Yu G. leg.; (1 ♀), IV­1996, Yao D. et al.; (1 Ƌ, 2 ♀), Baishuihe, 21­IX­1997, Yu G. collected on Picea likiangensis; (4 Ƌ, 2 ♀), CHINA: Yunnan: Lijiang: Wen Bi Shan, 20­IV–l 2­V­1997, M. Montgomery leg. (USNM). Etymology. The specific name refers to the typical color pattern of the elytron. Remarks. This species resembles S. (P.) quadrillum Motschulsky and S. (P.) subvillosus (Goeze) in color pattern and body shape, but is quite different in male genitalia. The former is illustrated by Pang and Gordon (1986) as S. (P.) taiwanus Ohta (1929) and the latter by Gourreau (1974). The new species also resembles S. (P.) yemenensis (Kapur), but the latter has the lighter part of the elytron extending to the apex, and the outer siphonal process shorter and much narrower than the inner process.
