The Relevance of Libraries in The Process of Cultivating Literate Populations

    No full text
This essay examines the difficulties that libraries encounter in establishing literate societies that foster lifelong education, while also commending libraries for their boundless capacity and vibrant creativity. It underscores the need of advocating for books and libraries to enhance literacy, advance educational reform, and ensure enduring reading skills. These factors contribute to the eradication of poverty and the advancement of emerging economies. Libraries promote responsible participation in a global democratic society by ensuring equal access to information for all citizens. If those in positions of authority who are responsible for making decisions and policies genuinely prioritize the importance of literacy, libraries, and a populace that possesses the ability to read and takes pleasure in reading, they will be willing to allocate a portion of the scarce resources towards the upkeep of libraries. Libraries can significantly contribute to the attainment of the Education for All and Millennium Development Goals when they have adequate resources

Research objective: to introduce into academic circulation previously unknown source on the Golden Horde history. Research materials: biographical dictionary of Taqi al-Din al-Maqrizi (766/1365 – 845/1441) “Kitab al-Muqaffa al-Kabir” (The Great Rhymed Book). Results and novelty of the research: This article contains materials from the works of historians engaged in the narrative biography, which V.G. Tiesenhausen did not include in his “Collection of Materials on the Golden Horde history (extract from Arab writings)”, although their writings contain very valuable information about the Golden Horde History. Research novelty consists in the fact that the author of this article presents one paragraph from biographical dictionary of Taqi al-Din al-Maqrizi, whose article number 421 provides information about a scholar from Saray – Mawlana Zada al-Sarayi. The author provides its translation and commentary referring to the more than ten medieval Arab sources. After receiving basic education at home, Mawlana Zada al-Sarayi traveled to many Eastern countries in search of knowledge and after having received high recognition he settled in Cairo as a teacher of Sharia Sciences. Despite the fact that his life was interrupted at an early age (36 years), he left a deep mark in science. His son Muhibbu al-Din (Cairo, 791/1389 – Mecca, Friday, the 3rd of Dhu al-Hijjah 859/13 November 1455) also became a great scholar as well as an imam of Sultan al-Ashraf Barsbay himself and other sultans after him. Nisba al-Sarayi sounded on the lips of the Ulema of the East as a symbol of learnedness and high temper. As a result of research it must be said that the study of life of Mawlana Zada al-Sarayi (754/1353 – 791/1389) and the number of migrants from Desht-i Kipchak in Egypt will help researchers in a deeper and more detailed study of the Golden Horde history

    No full text
Grounding on sensemaking theory, this study examines how employees’ sensemaking counters organizational changes with the help of knowledge management. Further, this study examines how effective leadership role in the corporate sector redefine their goals and values due to the current uncertain global situation to ensure their survival in a competitive environment. Our hypotheses were supported by a time-lagged examination of 403 employees working in Pakistan corporate sector organizations. Hierarchical regression was used to evaluate the study hypotheses. We also used the Hayes (2017) PROCESS macro model 7 to examine moderation mediation. The results show that employee sensemaking positively affects organizational change, and knowledge management mediates this relationship. Further, an effective leadership role is a buffering mechanism that strengthens the model. As a result, employees who use the broad pattern of sensemaking strategies increase their knowledge about unexpected changes. This research explains the study’s findings and delves into their practical and theoretical implications. Furthermore, this study also shows a limitations. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2023. corrected publication 2023

    No full text
This article examines the influence of the European Union (EU) on the development and implementation of Romani integration policy in the Czech Republic from the perspective of those responsible for policy delivery. Based on analysis of key policy documents and research conducted in the Czech Republic, this article first examines how Romani integration became a more important issue during membership negotiations and then discusses how the criticism of the European Commission's Regular Reports was received by those responsible for implementing pro-Romani policies. Finally, the paper assesses how the status of full EU membership has impacted on integration policy. The article concludes that while funding for Romani integration projects has benefitted some groups, the overall impression of the EU is of a remote institution, quick to criticise and unwilling to practise what it preaches

PT. X is a subsidiary of state-owned company, PT. Pupuk Indonesia Holding Company, which produces and distributes fertilizers and non-fertilizer products to fulfill domestic and export market. As the biggest subsidiary company between other subsidiaries, PT. X has given a role to support the program of government to increase national agricultural product by producing and distributing subsidized fertilizers, such as Urea, ZA, SP-36, and Phonska. In distributing the subsidized fertilizers, especially the land distribution to district warehouses in East Java, the common problem that the company facing is the imbalanced stock between different types of fertilizer products in the district warehouse, which makes the service level is not balanced. There are some product types that have very high amount of stock, while the others are having stock-out. To overcome this problem, the author proposes this research to find the optimum fertilizer distribution decision to fulfill demand of multiple products in PT. X to test some improvement scenarios that adjust the delivery shift assignment rule to become considering time-windows, number of product types shipped in one truck, and dispatching rule considering the stock criticality. By implementing the selected scenario, which is to deliver two most critical product types in one truck and adjusting the delivery shift to consider the time-windows, it is found that the average service level becomes 77.34%, with the cost reduction of Rp 2,078,756,721 or 6% from the existing condition, to become Rp 30,936,138,279 in a year, due to joint-replenishment that is implemented

Meat consumption, its framing in the media and its effects on society have been of high interest to various scholars, marketing specialists and the wider public. While people seem to be knowledgeable of certain problems connected to meat consumption, it continues growing worldwide. This paper aims to investigate how a particular relationship between meat and its consumers is being created, and what influences this process. The paper grounds its conclusions on literature review, primarily focused on the phenomena of meat dissociation and media cultivation, and qualitative semiotic analysis of TV commercials aired by the U.S. most successful meat producer Tyson Foods Inc. The study shows that symbolism created around meat is closely linked to particular desired states of mind and lifestyles, while the link between meat and animals is completely absent. It further concludes that the mentioned symbolism is built upon certain gender roles and cultural characteristics present in the society. The author believes that the findings can be of interest to those who aim to re-shape the role of meat in our daily lives and focus on the promotion of more sustainable alternatives

An Ultra-Miniaturized Antenna With Ultra-Wide Bandwidth Characteristics for Medical Implant Systems

    No full text
In this study, an ultra–miniaturized implantable antenna based system with ultra-wideband characteristics in the industrial, scientific, and medical band (i.e., 2.4–2.48 GHz) is proposed for biomedical applications. A biocompatible and flexible liquid crystalline polymer material, Rogers ULTRALAM (tan δ=0.0025 and εr=2.9 ), is employed as both the substrate and superstrate. The proposed antenna with a compact size ( 7×7×0.2 mm 3 ) and a wide bandwidth (1533 MHz), was primarily designed for overcoming the detuning challenges that may occur owing to the electronic circuitry and irregularity as well as inhomogeneity of the human tissue environment. The miniaturization of this antenna was achieved by introducing a shorting pin and open-ended cuts in the ground plane, as well as in the radiating patch. The proposed antenna also yielded a higher gain and lower specific absorption rate (SAR). Through the link budget analysis, it was observed that 1 Mbps of data could be easily transmitted over a distance of 15 m. The simulated and in vitro measured results confirmed that compared to the recently reported antenna systems, our proposed ultra-wideband antenna based system could work more efficiently in the complex environment of the human body, thus establishing itself as an attractive candidate for biomedical applications
