    Fish Recognition using machine learning is one of the significant breakthroughs that could be achieved by marine researchers and marine scientists. With the advancement of the machine learning in marine field, some of the problems that perplexed researchers can be solved especially in data collection. Application of machine learning to marine field is still immature, many aspects still need to be improved. Differentiating between two fish species with similar appearance is relatively challenging. On top of that, the angle of fish in the images and the background of the images can cause confusion to the recognition system. Therefore, it is quite challenging to build a fish recognition system. This study focuses on designing a fish recognition system by using Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). The proposed method employs Network-in-Network (NIN) model for fish recognition. NIN model using Multilayer Perceptron (Mlpconv) instead of linear filter and apply Global Average Pooling (GAP) for the last pooling layers. The result of NIN is then compared with a 3 layers CNN. To verify the utility of the proposed model, a set of data is prepared for prediction after training. The performance of the model assessed based on the F1-score of the test data.     This chapter outlines Herder’s philosophy on language and the nation. It attempts to explain how even though the Herderian claim has been a monolingual one, curiously, at the same time, Herder has also been lauded as a trailblazer for promoting linguistic diversity. This chapter therefore is an exposition of the complexities that surround the Herderian ideal of language and nationalism. Why does the Herderian model continue to have valency in our modern contemporary world? How has the Herderian ideal of one nation-one language continued to survive beneath the uncomfortable resolution struck by new multilingual nations as they create fictions of a singular national mother tongue? How have different nations negotiated the Herderian ideal in different ways? This introduction draws from the contributions to this volume to address the afterlife of Herderian linguistic nationalism by looking at Herder across different times, space, and academic fields

    Language, nations and multilingualism: questioning the Herderian ideal

    Language, Nations, and Multilingualism explores the legacy of Herder’s ideas about the relationship between language and nationalism in the post-colonial world. Focusing on how anti-colonial and post-colonial nations reconcile their myriad multilingualisms with the Herderian model of one language-one nation, it shows how Herder’s model is both attractive and problematic for such nations.Why then does the Herderian model have such valency? How has the Herderian ideal of one nation-one language continued to survive beneath the uncomfortable resolution struck by new multilingual nations as they create fictions of a singular national mother tongue? To what extent is Herder still relevant in our contemporary world? How have different nations negotiated the Herderian ideal in different ways? What does the way in which multilingual post-colonial nations deal with this crisis tell us about a possible alternative framework for understanding the relationship between language and nation?By approaching this investigation from diverse archives across Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean, Language, Nations, and Multilingualism proposes answers to the aforementioned questions from a global perspective that takes into account the specificities of a range of colonial experiences and political regimes. And by extending the discussion backwards in time to offer a more historical reading of the making of modern nations, it allows us to see how multilingualism has always disrupted constructions of monoglot nations.<br/

    Outage analysis of superposition modulation aided network coded cooperation in the presence of network coding noise

    We consider a network, where multiple sourcedestination pairs communicate with the aid of a half-duplex relay node (RN), which adopts decode-forward (DF) relaying and superposition-modulation (SPM) for combining the signals transmitted by the source nodes (SNs) and then forwards the composite signal to all the destination nodes (DNs). Each DN extracts the signals transmitted by its own SN from the composite signal by subtracting the signals overheard from the unwanted SNs. We derive tight lower-bounds for the outage probability for transmission over Rayleigh fading channels and invoke diversity combining at the DNs, which is validated by simulation for both the symmetric and the asymmetric network configurations. For the high signal-to-noise ratio regime, we derive both an upperbound as well as a lower-bound for the outage performance and analyse the achievable diversity gain. It is revealed that a diversity order of 2 is achieved, regardless of the number of SN-DN pairs in the network. We also highlight the fact that the outage performance is dominated by the quality of the worst overheated link, because it contributes most substantially to the network coding noise. Finally, we use the lower bound for designing a relay selection scheme for the proposed SPM based network coded cooperative communication (SPM-NC-CC) system.<br/
