Between environmental literature and ocean literature, Syaman Rapongan and Liao Hongji

    No full text
The subject of the bachelor thesis is a literary analysis of selected works with oceanic subject matter by contemporary Taiwanese authors Syaman Rapongan (*1957) and Liao Hongji (*1957). Rapongan's novel The Eyes of the Sky (2012) and Liao Hongji's short story cycle Fishermen (1996) will be presented in the broader context of "bentu literature" (bentu wenxue; i.e., local Taiwanese literature) and closely related environmental and ocean literature. In the analytical part, the author will focus on the motivic construction in the work of Rapongan and Liao in relation to ocean and environmental themes. The main focus will be on the differences in the conception of the ocean and marine culture in Rapongan's work as a member of the indigenous tribe Tao, and Liao Hongji, whose origin is Han. The thesis further examines whether and how environmental and oceanic literature overlap, using Wu Mingyi's definition of environmental literature. Keywords Syaman Rapongan, Liao Hongji, ocean literature, environmental literature, bentu wenxu

Raponganův román Oči Nebes (2012, přel. Šimonová, 2017) a Liao Hongjiho povídkový cyklus Rybáři (1996, přel. Krámská, 2017) budou představeny v širším kontextu "literatury bentu" (bentu wenxue; tj. místní taiwanské literatury) a s ní úzce související environmentální a oceánské literatury. Yin and Yang Dual Characters of CuOx Clusters for C-C Band Oxidation Driven by Visible Light

Selective cleavage of C–C bonds is pursued as a useful chemical transformation method in biomass utilization. Herein, we report a hybrid CuOx/ceria/anatase nanotube catalyst in the selective oxidation of C–C bonds under visible light irradiation. Using the lignin β-1 model as a substrate offers 96% yields of benzaldehydes. Characterization results by high angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy element (EDX) mapping reveal that CuOx clusters are highly dispersed on the exposed anatase surface as well as on the nanosized ceria domains. In-depth investigations by Raman and ultraviolet visible diffuse reflectance spectra (UV−vis DRS), together with density functional theory (DFT) calculations, further verify that the CuOx clusters present on the ceria domains increase the concentration of surface defects (Ce3+ ions and oxygen vacancies) and accordingly improve the photocatalytic activity (Yang character); the CuOx clusters decorating on anatase suppress the side reaction (oxy-dehydrogenation without C–C bond cleavage) because of an upward shift in the valence band (VB) edge of anatase (Yin character). Mechanism investigation indicates hydrogen abstraction from β-carbon by photogenerated holes is a vital step in the conversion

Research and Implementation of local color in animation

Taking With Hui'an Women living in the south China's Fujian Province as an example, the thesis analysis the constitution of Hui'an woman's finery. Through the deeply scratch of color theory, we analysis the physiological reason which cause color in eyes. Study the mental acts created by physiological reason and color's collocation and symbolic meaning, the thesis brings up a viewpoint that use the native color element to enhance the art infectivity when we are creating animation. By strengthen the local color's colored activity, making the animation have a special effect visual reception, I make an animation named < seek > which tells a story about diligent and sapiential Hui'an woman. The article illustrate how I use local color to build up the characters; control the tempo of animation; sublime the theme of story, make a better effect of local color to manifest Hui'an women's spirit of laborious, brave and septennial. The innovative research of this thesis might be helpful to the animator when they are plant to create a cartoon with local characteristic and color style.Computer Science, Artificial IntelligenceComputer Science, CyberneticsEngineering, Electrical & ElectronicImaging Science & Photographic TechnologyEICPCI-S(ISTP)

Stress reduction effects of ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete overlaid steel bridge deck developed with a new interfacial bond method

The effects of a 25 mm of UHPFRC overlay on reducing the stress of the open ribs-stiffened orthotropic steel decks (OSDs) are assessed experimentally and analytically. To integrate the UHPFRC overlay and the OSDs, an adhesive-based bonding technique is developed and evaluated beforehand using a pull-off test and a three-point bending test, where a 3 MPa of excellent bond strength and an invisible slip demonstrate the reliability of the technique. With the developed bonding technique, an up to 80% of strain reduction and a peak clipping phenomenon are observed in the strain of the critical locations of the steel deck and structural members in the hotspot areas due to the UHPFRC. In addition, it is found that the superior high strengths and the strain hardening of UHPFRC can postpone the initiation and propagation of cracks. As a result, an effective enhancement of stiffness of OSDs and an apparent fatigue life extension can be achieved even with a thin layer

Acute diquat poisoning induces paralytic ileus and hepatic portal venous gas: a case report

Diquat is a non-selective, broad-spectrum herbicide. Although its toxicity is significantly lower than paraquat, it still has a high mortality rate when ingested in large quantities. This report presents the case of a 21-year-old female who developed severe paralytic ileus and the rare radiological finding of hepatic portal venous gas (HPVG) after ingesting 150 mL of diquat. Despite aggressive treatment, including gastric lavage, drainage, and blood purification, the patient ultimately succumbed to multiple organ failure. This report explores the potential causes of HPVG, including infection and elevated intestinal pressure, and highlights the possibility that montmorillonite may have exacerbated this process
