A study on Emrullah Ozdemir's life, art and works
No full textÇalışmada son dönem yazarlarından Emrullah Özdemir'in romanları derinlemesine incelenmiştir. Çalışmamızı önemli kılan nokta, yazarın daha önce incelenmeyen eserlerinin tahlilinin yapılması ve okurların eserleri her boyutuyla anlamasına yardımcı olmasıdır. Çalışmamız giriş, sonuç ve kaynakça dışında üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde roman türünün doğuşu, gelişimi ve Emrullah Özdemir'in romancılığı hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Birinci bölümde, yazarın hayatı, edebi kişiliği ve eserlerinden bahsedilmiştir. İkinci bölümde her bir romanı, romanların tanıtımı, olay örgüsü, şahıs kadrosu, zaman, mekân, bakış açısı ve anlatıcı başlıkları altında ayrı ayrı tahlil edilmiştir. Bu bölümde yapılan çalışma neticesinde, Emrullah Özdemir'in bir anlatıcı olarak konumlandığı nokta, çizdiği karakterlerin genel özellikleri, olay örgüsünü oluşturuş tarzı, zaman ve mekâna yüklediği misyon, kısaca roman kurgularken izlediği yöntem belirlenmiştir. Romanlarda öne çıkan bireysel ve sosyal temalar incelenmiştir. İzleksel kurgu incelemesi neticesinde, İslamiyet öncesi Türk tarihini ve tarihin çeşitli dönemlerini kapsayan romanların, geniş bir konu yelpazesine sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Anlatılan tarihsel dönemlere ilişkin olarak toplumun geçirdiği evrim, savaş ve seferberlik yıllarının doğurduğu sıkıntılar, soykırım, kölelik, özgürlük, ahlak, şehitlik, cinsel istismar, din istismarı, töre, Türklük bilinci gibi temaların işlendiği ve Özdemir'in özellikle Türklük bilincini öne çıkardığı görülmüştür. Bu kavramlar açıklanırken çağdaş romancılığın unsurları göz önünde tutulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde, romanların dil özellikleri ve sanatsal yönleri incelenmiştir. Sonuç ve Değerlendirme bölümünde elde edilen sentezlere yer verilerek genel bir değerlendirmeye varılmış ve yazarın Türk edebiyatındaki yeri araştırmacıların dikkatine sunulmuştur. Kaynakça bölümü; Kitaplar, Süreli Yayınlar ve İnternet Kaynakları alt başlıkları şeklinde oluşturulmuştur. Anahtar Kelimeler: Emrullah Özdemir, roman, yapı, tema, dil ve üslûp.In this study, the novels of Emrullah Ozdemir, one of the writers of the last period, were examined in depth. The point that makes our study important is that it analyses the works of the author that has never been examined before and helps the readers understand the works in every aspect. Our study consists of three chapters, conclusion and bibliography apart from the preface and introduction. Our study consists of three parts except introduction, conclusion and bibliography. In the introduction, information is given about the birth and development of the novel genre and the novelism of Emrullah Ozdemir. In the first chapter, the author's life, literary personality and works are mentioned. In the second part, each of his novels is analysed separately under the titles of introduction of the novels, plot, characters, time, place, point of view and narrator. As a result of the work done in this section, the point where Emrullah Ozdemir is positioned as a narrator, the general characteristics of the characters he draws, the way he composes the plot, the mission he assigns to time and space, briefly the method he follows while building the novel were determined. The prominent individual and social themes in the novels were examined. As a result of the thematic fiction analysis, it has been seen that the novels covering pre-Islamic Turkish history and various periods of history have a wide range of topics. Regarding the historical periods told, the evolution of the society, the troubles caused by the war and the years of mobilization, genocide, slavery, freedom, morality, martyrdom, sexual abuse, religious abuse, customs, and Turkish consciousness were discussed, and Ozdemir especially highlighted the consciousness of Turkishness. While explaining these concepts, the elements of contemporary novelism were taken into consideration. In the third chapter, the language features and artistic aspects of the novels were examined. A general evaluation was made by giving place to the syntheses obtained in the Conclusion and Evaluation section and the place of the author in Turkish literature was presented to the attention of researchers. Abstract 1068: Driver pathway blockage synergizes with PLK1 inhibition in anaplastic thyroid cancer

Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) is one of the most lethal malignancies, with a median survival of less than 6 months from the time of diagnosis. Molecular changes that characterize ATC have been recently well defined and involve most often p53 mutations, and activation of PI3K, RAS and BRAF. PLK1, an essential mitotic regulator, has been found overexpressed in ATC.
Previous data from our lab have shown that PLK1 inhibitors are effective in ATC cell lines. However PLK1 inhibition often results in escape from growth arrest through mitotic slippage. This leads to the generation of polyploid, genetically unstable, cell populations.
We have tested the effect of combining PLK1 and PI3K inhibitors in ATC cell lines. Combined treatment with the PLK1 inhibitor BI6727 and the PI3K inhibitor BKM120 resulted in a significant synergistic effect in ATC cell lines with high levels of AKT activity, but not in those with undetectable pAKT. Combination of the two drugs enhanced the G2/M arrest at doses in which the single drugs showed no effect. In addition, it led to a massive reduction of the tetraploid cells population. Furthermore, combined treatment with BI6727 and BKM120 in PI3Khigh cell lines showed a significant induction of apoptosis in a time- and dose-dependent manner.
Combined inhibition of PI3K and PLK1 was extremely effective in inhibiting tumor growth in vivo, in an immunocompetent allograft model of ATC.
Our results show that combination of PLK1 and PI3K inhibitors is an effective treatment for ATC cells with high levels of PI3K signaling. This combination results in cell cycle arrest, inhibition of of tetraploid cell generation, and induction of apoptosis, suggesting a clear therapeutic potential.

The full energy peak and the total efficiency, photopeak/total (P/T) ratios and energy resolution of NaI(Tl) detector were measured using standard Y-ray sources. Detector response functions (DRFs) were obtained in every energy value of Y-ray rays by means of P/T ratios and energy resolutions. Y-rays incoming to the slice-shape geometry medium, can take all the energy values between 0 and the maximum energy. The energy range is divided into n lower energy region. DRFs are obtained for the energy values correspond to the midpoint of each energy range. In this way, the response matrix is developed. A bin to bin unfolding method is applied to the Y-ray spectra and the results are compared with the spectra obtained by the Monte Carlo method. © 2017 Author(s)
The Relation Between Lifelong Learning Tendency and Achievement Motivation
No full textThe aim of this study is to reveal the relation between lifelong learning tendency and achievement motivation. The sampling of the study consisted of 570 prospective teachers attending a pedagogical formation course at two universities in Turkey in 2016. Relational screening model was used in the study and the data were collected through achievement focused motivation scale and lifelong learning tendency scale. The collected data were analysed using regression analysis on SPSS 22. As the findings suggest, there is a low, positive correlation (r=0.095) between prospective teachers’ achievement motivation and lifelong learning tendency at 95% confidence interval. As for the correlation between lifelong learning tendency and the sub-dimensions of achievement motivation, lifelong learning tendency has a significant correlation with the expansion of objective (r=0,139), self-consciousness (r=0,128) and internal effect (r=0,089). However, it doesn’t correlate significantly with external effect (r=-0,024). As the standardised regression coefficient (β) indicates, the relative order of importance of predictor values on lifelong learning tendency is as follows; external effect, expansion of objective, self-consciousness and internal effect
