Mecdi Sadreddin'in Cennet Hanım Romanında Yaşam(ın) Kıyısında Gezmenin Dayanılmazlığı

No full text
Journalist and writer Mecdi Sadreddin Sayman has been the Ankara correspondent of the newspaper İkdam for many years. Mecdi Sadreddin, one of the master journalists of the period, attended the 2nd Term Lausanne Conference held between April 23 and July 17, 1923, of the Lausanne Peace Agreement signed on July 24, 1923. Mecdi Sadreddin, who was invited to the meeting chaired by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at Uşşakîzâde Muammer Bey's mansion in Göztepe on January 22, 1924, witnesses the Lausanne Peace Agreement, an important turning point in the history of the Turkish Republic. Sayman also has important works in the field of literature. Bir İdam Mahkûmu ile Mülakat, Kanlı Eldiven and Belalı Murat are his long stories. Interviews of the Sayman with four important poets and writers of the period, such as Hüseyin Rahmi, Celal Sâhir, Aka Gündüz and Ahmed Hikmet, were published in a book called Sevdiklerimiz -1-. Cennet Hanım is Sayman's only novel. It is a great deficiency that there is no study in Turkish literature about Mecdi Sadreddin Sayman, who is so busy with the press and publishing life and has literary works. The novel of Cennet Hanım is remarkable in terms of both its fiction, its transmission of life and its functioning of human relations. Cennet Hanım is a novel about the sacrifices of a mother who dedicates her life to her child, the loves of a young man in the grip of death, and the regrets of an irresponsible father, and presents all of these over a period of twenty-five years. Although the work takes its name from Cennet Hanım, Cennet Hanım's son Bülent is more prominent in the novel. The fact that the third part of the novel is completely devoted to Feridun Bey shows that the work is shaped by taking three people in the center. The characters in Mecdi Sadreddin's novel Cennet Hanım are constantly pushing the limits of life and wandering around the shores of life. At this point, the author/narrator argues that the limits of life should be pushed so that the living space is not narrowed, and his senses and perceptions are not dulled with the scenes he fictionalizes in the novel.</p

Aim: Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and epicardial fat tissue (EFT) are considered as a novel risk factor for cardiovascular disease. However, their relationship in patients with type II diabetes mellitus (DM) has never investigated before. Materials and Methods: Our study was a single-center prospective study which included 159 diabetic patients and 153 healthy controls. Two-dimensional and M-mode echocardiographic examination was performed using standard apical, parasternal, and subcostal views in all the study participants. Results: EFT thickness and RDW were found to be significantly higher in diabetic patients compared to controls (4.3 ± 1.1 mm vs. 3.7 ± 1.0 mm P = 0.001 and 13.5 ± 0.7 vs. 13.2 ± 0.9 P = 0.044, respectively). EFT thickness and RDW were positively correlated. RDW value of 13.55 predicted EFT thickness >5 mm with a sensitivity of 61.7% and specificity of 58.8% (area under the curve [AUC]: 0.649 and P = 0.001). HgA1C value of >7 predicted EFT thickness ≥4.15 mm with a sensitivity of 60.7% and specificity of 60.4% (AUC: 0.651 and P < 0.001). No correlation found between RDW and HgA1C (AUC: 0.554 and P: 0.169). Conclusion: EFT thickness increased in diabetic patients, independent of age, gender, waist circumference, body mass index, and it was correlated with RDW and HgA1C

Kiriş, Cennet (Arel Author)The research has been carried out as a descriptive way to find out to determine the factors that affect the silence of executive nurses. The research consists of a university hospital in Istanbul as 101 executive nurses employed. The relationship among the demographic features of the executive nurses, the questions as for speaking tendency and the factors that affect their silence have been tried to be identified. It has also been statistically analysed whether any relationship has existed among these. The findings of the research show that; 25.7% of the executive nurses don't shared when they reached the important information about the work and that their silence for reasons of great priority was 'managerial and organisational reasons'. The scores the nurses mentioned above got from the scales of the issue and they were reasons why they were silent were meaningful when the correlation tables studied

Many nasihat-names have been written with the aim of improving the individual and society in Turkish Islamic Literature field. These works can be written for the general community, they are also written for a spesific part of the society such as women, children, brethren, state administrators. The work named Miftah-i Cennet of Qadiri Huseyin was written for Sultan IV. Murad, one of the 17th century Ottoman sultans. The aim of the work is to guide the sultan who ascended the throne at the age of just a child. Sultan is the collocutor of the advices given to lead him to the happiness of the world and the hereafter. In this study, Miftah-i Cennet that was written for Sultan IV. Murad and has the feature of a poetic nasihat-name will be introduced. In the first part of the study, which consists of two parts, the life and works of Qadiri Huseyin, the author of the work, which does not have any information about his life in the biographical sources, will be mentioned. In addition, the opinions that the person known as Muhyiddin-i Qadiri may be the same person as Qadiri Huseyin will be presented. In the second part, the copies of Miftah-i Cennet which is the subject of our study will be introduced and general information about the content of the work will be given

Aim This study aimed to develop and psychometrically test a Reality Shock Scale for newly graduated nurses. Design An instrument development and validation study. Method A four-phase structure was used: (1) determining the conceptual foundation (2) creating the items, (3) preliminary evaluation of items and (4) refining the scale and evaluating psychometric properties. The scale was evaluated in terms of content and construct validity. To assess its reliability, the scale was tested for internal consistency and a test-retest approach was applied. The psychometric characteristics of the scale were tested with 1310 newly graduated nurses working in different positions at 19 hospitals. Data were collected over the period January 2018-July 2019. Results Prior to the creation of the scale items, a scan of the literature was carried out, after which individual face-to-face, semi-structured in-depth interviews were held with the newly graduated nurses. The scale's Content Validity Index was 0.97. A 47-item scale containing four subdomains (Relations and Cooperation, Professional Knowledge, Responsibilities, Performance) was developed as a result of the analyses; the scale explained 48.4% of total variance. The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the scale's four-factor construct. Cronbach's alpha was calculated as .95 for the overall scale. Conclusion The Reality Shock Scale that was developed is a valid and reliable measure that can be used to determine the extent to which newly graduated nurses experience reality shock. Impact The developed tool makes it possible to determine the reality shock experienced by newly graduated nurses and influencing factors. Thus, educational institutions as well as health institutions have the means to develop policies to prevent reality shock experienced among newly graduated nurses

Objective: This is a qualitative study based on content analysis in order to reveal the transition experiences of nurses in the first year of their profession. Methods: The study was carried out between January 2018 and March 2018 with 30 newly graduated nurses, who work in three Training and Research Hospitals, two University Hospitals and three Private Hospitals with JCI Quality Certificate and have a maximum of one year of professional experience. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth individual interviews using face-to-face interviews. Results: Themes defined in the transition process of newly graduated nurses were emotional, sociocultural and developmental, physical and intellectual. In general, transition experiences of individuals were greatly influenced by the support that is given to the new graduate, the experience, the predictability, sincerity and consistency of the relationships with the individuals they were in contact with, and the expectations of the institution or experienced employees. In the first year of their professional experience, graduates do not feel themselves qualified, comfortable, safe and secure, and experience emotional and physical exhaustion in a short time. In addition, changes in life patterns and routines have emerged as distracting developments or unexpected burdens, particularly for new graduates experiencing adaptation problems. Conclusion: This study focused on the experiences of nurses during their first-year practice which is incredibly challenging for the new graduated nurses. It has been determined that formal and informal support programs are necessary for the new graduates to successfully start the profession

15 pages, 4 tables, 2 figures.-- This article is an open access article distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) licenseInefficient glucose metabolism and decreased ATP production in the brain are linked to ageing, cognitive decline, and neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). This study employed thermodynamic analysis to assess the effect of fish oil supplementation on glucose metabolism in ageing brains. Data from previous studies on glucose metabolism in the aged human brain and grey mouse lemur brains were examined. The results demonstrated that Omega-3 fish oil supplementation in grey mouse lemurs increased entropy generation and decreased Gibbs free energy across all brain regions. Specifically, there was a 47.4% increase in entropy generation and a 47.4 decrease in Gibbs free energy in the whole brain, indicating improved metabolic efficiency. In the human model, looking at the specific brain regions, supplementation with Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs) reduced the entropy generation difference between elderly and young individuals in the cerebellum and particular parts of the brain cortex, namely the anterior cingulate and occipital lobe, with 100%, 14.29%, and 20% reductions, respectively. The Gibbs free energy difference was reduced only in the anterior cingulate by 60.64%. This research underscores that the application of thermodynamics is a comparable and powerful tool in comprehending the dynamics and metabolic intricacies within the brain. This research was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, grant number RTI2018-095659-B-I00; the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, grant number AGL2013-49079-C2-1, 2-R; and the Xunta de Galicia—Axencia Galega de Innovación (GAIN) (IN607B 2023/05).Peer reviewe
