    In a series of papers, Olsson (1994, 1995), Olsson &amp; Oliger (1994), Strand (1994), Gerritsen &amp; Olsson (1996), Yee et al. (1999a,b, 2000) and Sandham &amp; Yee (2000), the issue of nonlinear stability of the compressible Euler and Navier-Stokes Equations, including physical boundaries, and the corresponding development of the discrete analogue of nonlinear stable high order schemes, including boundary schemes, were developed, extended and evaluated for various fluid flows. High order here refers to spatial schemes that are essentially fourth-order or higher away from shock and shear regions. The objective of this paper is to give an overview of the progress of the low dissipative high order shock-capturing schemes proposed by Yee et al. (1999a,b, 2000). This class of schemes consists of simple non-dissipative high order compact or non-compact central spatial differencings and adaptive nonlinear numerical dissipation operators to minimize the use of numerical dissipation. The amount of numerical dissipation is further minimized by applying the scheme to the entropy splitting form of the inviscid flux derivatives, and by rewriting the viscous terms to minimize odd-even decoupling before the application of the central scheme (Sandham &amp; Yee). The efficiency and accuracy of these schemes are compared with spectral, TVD and fifth-order WENO schemes. A new approach of Sjogreen &amp; Yee (2000) utilizing non-orthogonal multi-resolution wavelet basis functions as sensors to dynamically determine the appropriate amount of numerical dissipation to be added to the non-dissipative high order spatial scheme at each grid point will be discussed. Numerical experiments of long time integration of smooth flows, shock-turbulence interactions, direct numerical simulations of a 3-D compressible turbulent plane channel flow, and various mixing layer problems indicate that these schemes are especially suitable for practical complex problems in nonlinear aeroacoustics, rotorcraft dynamics, direct numerical simulation or large eddy simulation of compressible turbulent flows at various speeds including high-speed shock-turbulence interactions, and general long time wave propagation problems. These schemes, including entropy splitting, have also been extended to freestream preserving schemes on curvilinear moving grids for a thermally perfect gas (Vinokur &amp; Yee 2000).<br/

    Fong Ding and Fong Wong See from Canton China bought up six boys and three girls in Pine Creek, of which Houng On Yee was the youngest. After the death of her father the family moved to Emungalan (on the north bank of the Katherine River). Here Myrtle helped her brother George run his general store. At the age of 16, Myrtle moved to Darwin where she entered into an arranged marriage with Charlie Houng On Yee. They were married on 12 May 1930. 90 guests celebrated their wedding at the Kuo Ming Tang building in Cavanagh Street. The couple visited China for nine months after their wedding returning to Darwin when it was in the grip of the depression. Myrtle began working in her sister's laundromat washing and ironing for people from the Army, the bank and private customers. Myrtle and her four sons were evacuated from Darwin during the war years, they left on the last civilian ship out of Darwin the SS Montoro. They Travelled to Brisbane where they stayed with Myrtle's sister Ethel, before moving to Sydney where her husband later joined her. Through hard work and odd jobs Myrtle and Charlie eventually purchased and ran a fish and chip shop until they returned to Darwin in 1946.Once back in Darwin the Army returned the Darwin Aerated Water soft drink factory in Knuckey Street to the couple, as they had purchased it prior to the war. For 19 years, until all four of their sons were married Myrtle and Charlie did back breaking work to run the drink factory where everything was done by hand. In 1992, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary with their sons and their families; they received a letter from the Queen, the Governor, the Administrator, Chief Minister and other dignitaries of the Northern Territory. Charlie died on 24 January 1996 at the age of 91 years.Business WomanChines

    The objective of this research is to define three types of Yee Shin Co, Ltd.'s organizational culture and to examine the impact of organizational culture on employees' performance. Cooperating culture, innovating culture and harmonizing culture are three types of organizational culture. With a sample of 120 workers, the data were gathered from Yee Shin Co, Ltd. The study found that the cooperative culture and harmonizing culture had a positive effect on employee performance at Yee Shin Co, Ltd. In addition to achieve a competitive advantage arising from the cooperative culture of an organization, the company should also focus on creating a healthy organizational culture, improving communication, improving employee workforce growth and collaboration. This research suggests approaches to development to enhance consumer focus, provide support for creative autonomy, and foster employee entrepreneurial culture and adaptive efficiency. In addition, it is strongly recommended that the organization concentrate on strategic alignment, the development of shared value systems, the promotion of charismatic leadership and strategy review. Finally, extending the analysis to include other cultural characteristics, such as organizing characteristics, would give the organization more guidance. In addition, the corporate culture is highly diverse, with research on other geographic locations providing empirical evidence to further support the theory

    The performance of radial basis function-based decision feedback equalized (RBF DFE) burst-by-burst adaptive quadrature amplitude modulation (AQAM) is presented for transmissions over dispersive wide-band mobile channels. This scheme is shown to give a significant improvement in terms of the mean bit error rate (BER) and bits per symbol (BPS) performance compared to that of the individual fixed modulation modes. The structural equivalence of the RBF DFE to the optimal Bayesian equalizer enables it to potentially outperform the conventional Kalman-filtered AQAM DFE scheme.     'Interpretive genres' in natural history : a socio-cognitive perspective / Yee Chee Leong

    This study is an interdisciplinary research that analyses written discourses in natural history through the genre analysis’ lens. Genres are explored and examined by drawing on insights gathered from different disciplines such as linguistics, communication and environmental humanities. Data collected comprise a corpus of selected natural history texts published by the Malaysian Nature Society, Malaysia’s oldest non-governmental environmental and conservation body. Multiple conceptual and analytical models are combined to examine these resources from a socio-cognitive perspective: Bhatia’s (2004) multidimensional and multi-perspective model for professional discourse analysis and the notion of ‘generic integrity’; Tilden’s (1957) principles of interpretation; and Leftridge’s (2002) introduction of ‘interpretive writing’ as a distinct genre. Research methods employed for this study are text analysis and non- and participatory observations. Findings reveal that a new breed of genre colony known as ‘interpretive genres’ exists among the discourses in natural history. Genres belonging to this family serve to achieve communicative purposes that are both goal-directed and pro-social, driven by disciplinary cultures and professional practices of the discourse community. It seems that ‘interpretive genres’ do not merely communicate facts, but also convey subtle meanings by making intellectual and emotional connections between the inherent meanings in natural resources and audience interests and experiences. Results discussed have practical implications for genre-based pedagogy, professional training and development, environmental communication and interpretation, as well as foster nature appreciation through public understanding of ‘interpretive genres’
