    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     &lt;p class="abstrak"&gt;Emisi karbon yang terjadi akibat deforestasi dan degradasi hutan menyumbang hampir 20%  emisi global, lebih besar daripada sektor transportasi global dan yang kedua setelah industri energi. Indonesia adalah negara yang sangat penting dalam hal deforestasi dan degradasi hutan. Enam puluh persen dari luas daratan Indonesia adalah hutan, dan memiliki kawasan hutan hujan tropis terbesar ke-3 di dunia. Hutan Indonesia pada periode 2000-2009 telah mengalami deforestasi sekitar 15,15 juta ha. Distribusi spasial deforestasi terjadi di Pulau Kalimatan mencapai 5505863,93 (36,32%), Pulau Sumatera 3711797,45 (24,48%) dan Kepulauan Maluku 1,258,091,72 (8,30%). Di pulau Sumatera, Provinsi ……… Riau merupakan wilayah dengan deforestasi terbesar, mencapai 2002908,83 ha. Deforestasi akan berdampak terjadinya emisi karbon.  Salah satu metode untuk mengukur emisi dari deforestasi dan degradasi hutan adalah model Geosiris.  Model ini mengasumsikan pemanfaatan hutan menghadapi &lt;em&gt;trade-off&lt;/em&gt;  antara pendapatan pertanian yang diperoleh dari konversi  hutan, dan pendapatan karbon yang diperoleh dengan melindungi hutan. Data yang digunakan dalam studi :  peta tutupan hutan pada tahun 2005 dan 2010, peta deforestasi 2005-2010, dan data penyebab deforestasi : ( kemiringan, elevasi, jarak logaritmik ke jalan terdekat, jarak dari  ibukota provinsi,  peta taman nasional, peta areal perkebunan), harga karbon dan harga pertanian. Sumber data adalah : &lt;a href="https://clarklabsorg/products/"&gt;https://clarklabsorg/products/&lt;/a&gt;.  Analisis emisi karbon dilakukan dengan oleh menggunakan modul Geosiris pada software TerrSet.   Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur deforestasi dan emisi dari periode 2005-2010 di pulau Sumatera dengan menggunakan model Geosiris.    Hasil analisis dengan asumsi harga karbon sebesar US 10/tCO2e,menunjukkandeforestasiyangterjadidiPulauSumatera dampakkebijakanREDDadalah170,447ha(16,70 10 / tCO2e, menunjukkan deforestasi yang terjadi di Pulau Sumatera  dampak kebijakan REDD adalah 170,447 ha (16,70%), perubahan emisi karena REDD 17,59-22 -29% (di bawah tanpa skenario referensi REDD +), atau mengurangi emisi sebesar 245 - 265 MtCO2e / 5 tahun, akhirnya, surplus bersih pemerintah pusat dari pembayaran karbon sebesar US 300276736 (NPV, 5 tahun).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="abstrak"&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="katakunci"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Kata Kunci&lt;/strong&gt;: Deforestasi, Emisi Karbon, Pendapatan Pertanian, Insentif Karbon ,  Model Geosiris&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="judulABS"&gt;ABSTRACT&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="Abstrakeng"&gt;Carbon emissions related to deforestation and forest degradation represent almost 20% of global emissions, greater than the global transportation sector and second only to the energy industry.  For several reasons, Indonesia is a very important country in regarding to deforestation and forest degradatio. Sixty percent of Indonesia's land area is forested, and it has the 3rd largest area of tropical rainforest in the world.  Indonesia’s  Forest in the period 2000-2009 has been deforested about 1515 million ha. The spasial distribution of deforestation occurred on the Kalimatan island  reach 5,505,86393 (36.32%), Sumatra Island 3,711,79745 (24.48 %) and Maluku Islands 1,258,09172 (8.30%.  In the Sumtra island, it self Riua Province has the greatest deforestation, they are reaching 2,002,90883 ha. Deforestation will cause carbon emissions. One of method for  measuring emissions from deforestation and forest degradation is Geosiris model. This model assumes forest users face a trade-off between the agricultural revenue obtained from deforesting land, and the carbon revenue obtained by protecting them. A modeled GeOSIRIS policy uses a carbon payment system to incentivize emission reductions.  Data used in study : maps of forest cover in 2005 and 2010, map of deforestation,  driver variables (slope,  elevation, logarithmic distance to the nearest road or provincial capital, or the amount of area per pixel included in a national park, or a timber plantation),  carbon price and agricultural.  Data sources in  &lt;a href="https://clarklabs.org/products/"&gt;https://clarklabsorg/products/&lt;/a&gt;. Calculating emisi carbon was  done by the GeOSIRIS module in TerrSet. The aim of study is to measuring deforestation and emissions from tropical deforestation period 2005-2010 in Sumatera island using Geosiris model.     &lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="text-decoration: underline;"&gt;ABSTRAK&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Pemetaan potensi sumberdaya geologi pertambangan khususnya potensi mineral perlu dilakukan sebagai awal dalam pengelolaan sumberdaya pertambangan terlebih dalam tahapan eksplorasi pendahuluan. Penginderaan jauh (Inderaja) merupakan alat bantu yang merekam rona lingkungan bumi yang mampu menginterpretasi potensi eksplorasi mineral logam seperti emas. Dengan menggunakan data citra satelit, biaya eksplorasi akan lebih rendah, termasuk efisiensi dalam melakukan pemboran. Tujuan dari studi ini yaitu mampu mendeliniasi Jalur Alterasi dengan interpretasi citra satelit agar untuk mendukung kegiatan eksplorasi tambang lebih efektif dan efisien. Lokasi kajian berada di Distrik Bogobaida, Kabupaten Paniai, Propinsi Papua seluas 40.116 Ha yang merupakan lokasi Izin Usaha Pertambangan (IUP) Eksplorasi PT. Kotabara Mitratama (izin berdasarkan Keputusan Bupati Paniai No. 017 Tahun 2010). Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini yaitu metode konseptual dengan memanfaatkan faktor geologi yang berpengaruh pada terbentuknya endapan minera). Tahapan analisa dimulai dari pengumpulan data spasial (peta) dan non spasial (tabular), analisa interpretasi citra Landsat dan identifikasi kelurusan zona lemah (lineament) untuk menentukan zona mineralisasi. Berdasarkan hasil interpretasi citra Landsat dengan didukung analisa geologi untuk daerah IUP PT. Kotabara Mitratama (Paniai Regent Decree No. 017 of 2010). The method used is utilizing conceptual geological factors that alleged the formation of mineral deposits. Stages of analysis starting from spatial data (maps) and non-spatial (tabular) collection, then Landsat satellite imagery interpretation and identification of weak zones straightness (lineament) due to define the mineralized zones. Based on the results of image interpretation with geological analysis in IUP PT.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
