The method used in this research is observation and library research. There are 16 forms of code mix contained in the lyrics, namely: 5 insertion of elements of tangible word, 9 insertion of elements of the phrase and 2 insertion elements of tangible clause. The dominant form of code mix is the insertion of phrasal elements. While there are 3 factors that caused the interference of the code in the lyrics, namely: (1) The casuality (informal situation), (2) The author wants to show the learning and/or position and (3) There is no correctly expression in language that had been used. The dominant factor of them is no correctly expression in language that had been used. The customary factor is not found in the lyrics of SHINee’Gentleman by Junji Ishiwatari although songwriters often use English in writing song lyrics

<Trends of Higher Education (Invited Papers)> Staff Development for University Administrators and Reconsideration of Staff Development Theory from the Perspective of Front-line University Administrators: Toward a Theory of Practical SD

    No full text
As theories of Staff Development (SD) have started later than theories of Faculty Development (FD), teaching faculty have tended to take the leading role in considering effective means of SD. Although ideally, administrative staff should work towards their own professional development, university faculty have taken this role for the following reasons: 1) Administrative staff is recognized as a supporter of teaching staff. 2) Practical aspects of SD are not important for teaching staff. 3) Administrative staff is believed to be mainly engaged in routine rather than creative tasks. Referring to some examples for SD programs inside and outside the university, this article reviews the practical aspects of SD, searches for new directions of SD, and considers ways to improve current business practices and to explore the implementation of innovative practices. In order to plan the implementation of new SD programs, an evaluation of the existing Off-the-Job Training (Off-JT) programs at universities for administrative staff is discussed, and the contents and means of implementation of proposed SD programs are considered. It is recommended that the results of research related to SD are utilized by Off-JT programs at universities. Furthermore, it is expected that a theory of SD will be analyzed by means such as Business Process Reengineering

Recently, health issues caused by Foods with Function Claims (FFCs) have resulted in 81 suspected deaths in Japan, where labelling precautions proved ineffective. We previously developed a Communication Index to assess usability and comprehension of FFC labelling from the perspective of healthcare professionals (HCPs). It is important to explore ways to evaluate and improve labelling usability from the consumers’ perspective to ensure safe usage.Patients and Methods: We conducted user testing from the consumers’ perspective on labels of five different FFCs, utilizing semi-structured interviews with 50 participants of diverse ages and sexes. Two levels of passing criteria were established for accessibility to correct answers: ≥ 90% of all questions within 1 min and 2 min. After the user testing, we qualitatively analyzed the participants’ feedback. Furthermore, we created a revised version of labels, which participants then evaluated against the current version using a 5-point scale. Results: Only one FFC label met the acceptance criteria within 2 min, while none did so within 1 min. The response rate for questions critical to safe use was particularly low, averaging around 70%. Participants’ feedback revealed lack of familiarity with FFCs, suggesting that the terms and text on the labels were often confusing and overly technical. Conclusion: We demonstrated that FFC label assessments from users’ perspective did not meet the passing criteria. User testing offered valuable insights into how FFC labelling can be improved to ensure safer and more appropriate use by aligning with users’ understanding and perceptions. For the first time, we developed a framework that integrates evaluations from both users and HCPs, highlighting the challenges and potential improvements with the FFC label as a source of health information. Keywords: health literacy, food with health claims, safety use, semi-structured interview, risk communicatio

INTRODUCTION New Perspectives on Horror Manga The primary objective of this study is to analyze Japanese horror comics, known as manga, through the works of Junji Ito, particularly Tomie. This author has become a central figure in the genre, and his work is essential for understanding how horror in manga achieves an impact that goes beyond its graphic elements, utilizing a distinctive visual and narrative style that creates a unique atmosphere and evokes profound emotions in its readers. The analysis begins with a comparison between sequential horror media, such as happenings, and editorial media like comics, where the resources available are different: while the former include sound, characters in motion, and dynamic storytelling, comics must rely on visual strategies to achieve equally powerful horror effects. This research aims to explore the artistic evolution of Junji Ito and how, through the use and modification of lines and styles, he constructs atmospheres that immerse the reader in his narratives. Throughout this study, the artistic styles that characterize horror manga will be examined, detailing the visual techniques that intensify the atmosphere, generate tension, and build unsettling narratives. The research seeks to answer a fundamental question: how is it possible to achieve, within editorial media—specifically horror comics—the same atmospheric effect that is present in sequential media? This analysis of Junji Ito delves into the visual and narrative elements that define his style and have earned him a prominent place in horror manga. The study also considers the direct and indirect consequences of modifications in illustration on atmosphere and story development, highlighting the use of line work, onomatopoeia, and other essential resources for creating visual impact. This work not only describes the influence of Junji Ito but also aims to serve as a guide for design and art students interested in illustration, providing tools to understand and construct effective atmospheres that instill in audiences a constant desire to explore further. In this sense, understanding Junji Ito’s style and techniques is fundamental for learning how to depict horror and tension within the realm of printed and editorial media. This paper overviews the economic history of the period between 1853, the year when Commodore Perry's 'black ships' arrived at Shimoda, and 1885, the year that marked the end of the so-called Matsukata recession period. The chapter will trace economic, political and regime changes during this transitional period in the first four sections. After having explored the question of continuity and discontinuity, I will have a critical look at what the oft-quoted slogan of the new Meiji government, 'rich nation, strong army', meant. The penultimate section discusses the issue of whether or not early Meiji Japan was a developmental, plan-rational state by taking a close look at actual policy changes in the 1870s and 80s. The last section draws implications for the changing constellations in political economy after 1885.

This project aimed to create a series of works based on two concepts, the German term unheimliche interpreted as weird, sinister or creepy, and a reflection on the work of the author Junji Ito, who has captured in his works fantastic representations of anguish. It also attempts to show how the concept of unheimliche is capable of being found within art, horror works and today's society. Finally, it explores the execution of the oil technique, to find ways to interpret social issues and transform them into surreal scenarios.PregradoLicenciado(a) en Artes Plástica

densimeter from 23°C to 200°C and 7.2 to 248.7 MPa: Evaluation of density underestimation by laser heating

    No full text
Unintended local temperature enhancement by excitation laser might change Raman spectral features and potentially lead to misinterpretation of the data. To evaluate robustness of Raman CO2 densimeters in the presence of laser heating, we investigate the relation between temperature (T, degrees C), density (rho, g/cm(3)), and Fermi diad split (Delta, cm(-1)) using a high-pressure optical cell at 23 degrees C to 200 degrees C and 7.2-248.7 MPa. Results indicate that Delta decreases concomitantly with increasing temperature for a constant density in all density regions investigated. This result suggests that the density estimated based on Delta might be underestimated if the fluid is heated locally by the laser. Combining results of earlier studies with those of the present study indicates that the temperature dependence of Delta (|( partial differential Delta/ partial differential T)(rho)|) has a maximum value around 0.6-0.7 g/cm(3). Consequently, at very high densities such as 1.1-1.2 g/cm(3), |( partial differential Delta/ partial differential T)(rho)| is small. Thus, Delta at such densities is less affected by laser heating. However, at densities below approximately 0.7 g/cm(3), although |( partial differential Delta/ partial differential T)(rho)| becomes smaller at lower densities, the relative density decrease becomes larger even for a small density decrease because the density itself becomes smaller. Therefore, at such densities, a density decrease of more than 10% was observed for some fluid inclusions, even at typical laser powers for inclusion analysis. Finally, to accurately estimate the density even in the presence of laser heating, we show that it is effective to estimate the intercept Delta from the correlation between Delta and laser power and substitute it into Delta-rho relations
