Decoupled textures for broadband absorption enhancement beyond Lambertian light trapping limit in thin-film silicon-based solar cells
We present a modelling study of thin silicon based solar cells endowed with periodic and decoupled front/back textures. After careful optimization, the proposed device models exhibit absorption beyond the Lambertian light trapping limit for a wide range of light angles of incidence. The advanced light management scheme is applied to (nano)crystalline silicon solar cells, where the benefits of texturing the absorber rather than the supporting layers is clear and to barium (di)silicide solar cells, which could achieve an implied photocurrent densityof41.1 mA/cm2 for a thickness of only 2 \mum.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Photovoltaic Materials and DevicesElectrical Sustainable Energ
On 《res》 and 《essentia》 in St. Thomas Aquinas
In the philosophy of Aquinas, "res" and "essentia" have an intimate relation in meaning. ln this articie, the author tried to clarify, as far as possible, the meaning relationship of these two words. For this purpose, he examined the meaning of a Greek word „ούσία", from which the Latin word "essentia" has been translated, and discovered in it a sense of "realitas". Thus, the examination of the meaning relationship of the words "ούσία", "essentia", and "res" leads the author to the following conclusion : According to Aquinas, "essentia" has two mornents of meaning; that is, "quiditas" and "realitas". ln the former sense of the word, "essentia" ls referred to "ratio", which is signified by the definition of a thing. ln the latter sense of the word, however, it is referred to .res", because the word "essentia" as a translation of "ούσία", has a meaning of reality in its widest sense
On the Meaning of πραγμα in Aristotle's Poetics (No. 550 Commemoration Issue)
第五百五十號記念特集號According to a Greek-English lexicon, the word πράγμα has two meanings, that is action and thing. In what way these meanings are related? This is a problem. In Aristotle's "Poetics", this word is used in the meaning of the matter which is played on the stage. The author analyses this meaning, and finds there a transitional sense from action to thing. This investigation will contribute to the deeper understanding of Aristotelian conception of πράγμα
The Need for a New Parameter on PV Modules Datasheet: Shading Tolerability
This paper suggests a measurable parameter, the so-called Shading Tolerability (ST), to be added on PV modules datasheet. Using this parameter, PV modules can be compared and classified regarding the ability to oppose shading effects. The parameter is extracted based on mathematical and probability analysis, then measured using a Large Area Steady State Solar (LASSS) simulator. Outdoor measurements proved a correlation between ST and Performance Ratio (PR) of PV modules. ST was also found to be independent of the ambient temperature, which indicates that it is a characteristic parameter of a PV module. Finally, a selection map for PV module installation at different climate conditions based on ST and temperature coefficient for maximum power (\gamma)is presented.Photovoltaic Materials and DevicesElectrical Sustainable Energ
Sin in Human Act : Remarks on Thomas Aquinas' Definition of Sin
The purpose of this essay is to bring out the intention of Thomas Aquinas when he uses the concept of sin in a wide sense which means not only to do something wrong but also to fail to act in accord with the perfect paradigm of human action in any situation. The author's argument is divided into three stages. In the first place he examines how Aquinas' definition of sin works when it is applied to the case where sin is committed by negligence or through mere carelessness without having any intention to do something wrong. Secondly he introduces the concept of human act as a clue to understand the concept of sin, and suggests that the concept of human act should cover not only the physical but also the moral acts which are both intellectual and voluntary. Then the author examines the concept of perfect human act and concludes that the perfect examplar of human act should, at every moment, be looked for and found out by the actor himself, and that the act of inquiring and finding it is based on the liberty of action which human beings are endowed with
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
