Vals con Bashir: Documental, animación y memoria
No full text[EN] This paper presents an analysis of a contemporary animated documentary that has been unanimously recognised as an extraordinary
ethical and aesthetic example of the depiction of war through the
personal recollections of a perpetrator: Waltz with Bashir (Ari Folman, 2008). To this end, an examination is offered of the narrative,
thematic and expressive strategies of the film and their effect on
the ethical engagement of the spectator in response to a barbaric
act. In this way, through a clever combination of expressive effects
characteristic of animation that deliberately distance the film from
the hyperrealistic codes of classical filmmaking, and a heavily fragmented narrative structure that gives shape to a traumatic event
experienced in the first person, Waltz with Bashir offers a powerful
audiovisual discourse that elicits a profound degree of empathy from
the spectator, encouraging a critical response to the events depicted.[ES] El presente trabajo analiza un reciente documental de animación que ha sido reconocido de manera unánime como un extraordinario ejemplo ético y estético en la representación bélica a través de la rememoración en primera persona de un perpetrador: Vals con Bashir (Waltz with Bashir, Ari Folman, 2008). Para ello, se ponen en valor las estrategias narrativas, temáticas y expresivas del film y sus consecuencias en la implicación ética del espectador ante un acto de barbarie. Así, gracias a una sabia conjugación de los efectos expresivos derivados de la animación, que se aleja de manera consciente de los códigos hiperrealistas de la cinematografía clásica, y una articulación de la narración fuertemente fragmentada que da forma a un acontecimiento traumático que vincula la memoria individual y la memoria colectiva, el film israelí propone un potente discurso audiovisual que activa una profunda empatía con un espectador que reacciona de manera crítica frente a los acontecimientos escenificados.Moral Martin, FJ. Quasi-Static Voltage Scaling for Energy Minimization with Time Constraints
No full textSupply voltage scaling and adaptive body-biasing are important tech-niques that help to reduce the energy dissipation of embedded systems. This is achieved by dynamically adjusting the voltage and performance settings according to the application needs. In order to take full ad-vantage of slack that arises from variations in the execution time, it is important to recalculate the voltage (performance) settings during run-time, i.e., online. However, voltage scaling (VS) is computationally ex-pensive, and thus significantly hampers the possible energy savings. To overcome the online complexity, we propose a quasi-static voltage scal-ing scheme, with a constant online time complexity O(1). This allows to increase the exploitable slack as well as to avoid the energy dissipated due to online recalculation of the voltage settings. We conduct several experiments that demonstrate the advantages of the proposed technique over the previously published voltage scaling approaches

No full textEste trabajo expone mi experiencia como amica curiae en el caso Al-Bashir ante la Corte Penal Internacional (CPI). La presentación de observaciones sobre cuestiones de interés ante la Sala de Apelaciones de la CPI fue una excelente oportunidad para reflexionar sobre diferentes problemas que afectan al derecho internacional contemporáneo, en particular: (i) el conflicto de fuentes entre el Estatuto de Roma y tratados y costumbres internacionales sobre inmunidades; ii) la cooperación vertical requerida por el Consejo de Seguridad de Naciones Unidas (NU) a todos los Estados con respecto a la detención y entrega de Al-Bashir de conformidad con el artículo 89 del Estatuto, y iii) las obligaciones internacionales derivadas del Estatuto de Roma y la Resolución 1593 (2005) del Consejo de Seguridad de NU y sus obligaciones en virtud de otras convenciones bilaterales o multilaterale
A Fast and Accurate Process Variation-aware Modeling Technique for Resistive Bridge Defects
No full textRecent research has shown that tests generated without taking process variation into account may lead to loss of test quality. At present there is no efficient device-level modeling technique that models the effect of process variation on resistive bridge defects. This paper presents a fast and accurate technique to achieve this, including modeling the effect of voltage and temperature variation using BSIM4 transistor model. To speedup the computation time and without compromising simulation accuracy (achieved through BSIM4) two efficient voltage approximation algorithms are proposed for calculating logic threshold of driven gates and voltages on bridged lines of a fault-site to calculate bridge critical resistance. Experiments are conducted on a 65-nm gate library (for illustration purposes), and results show that on average the proposed modeling technique is more than 53 times faster and in the worst case, error in bridge critical resistance is 2.64% when compared with HSPICE
