residências estreitas lado a lado que configuram a habitação do trabalhador em zonas centrais da cidade.
Com a falta de oportunidade para novas construções
de casas nos centros urbanos, voltam-se os olhares
para a tipologia da casa operária estreita e a possibilidade de requalificação junto ao cenário da residência
contemporânea. Mas a re-arquitetura desse tipo de residência implica estudar estratégias atuais de projeto que
permitam trazer medidas qualitativas à nova edificação.
Para tanto, o artigo, a partir do exemplo da Azuma House,
analisa esses aspectos do projeto em relação à suas
diretrizes, conceito, programa, organização espacial e

Working memory capacity: Is there a bilingual advantage?
No full textabstract: Previous studies suggest that bilinguals have certain executive function advantages over monolinguals. However, few studies have examined specific working memory (WM) differences between monolinguals and bilinguals using complex span tasks. In the current study, 52 bilingual and 53 monolingual speakers were administered simple and complex WM span tasks, including a backward digit-span task, standard operation span tasks and a non-verbal symmetry span task. WM performance was a strong predictor of performance on other WM tasks, whereas bilingual status was not. No full textLos avances en las tecnologías de la información y las comunicaciones están obligando a redefinir la figura del docente y a replantearse los modos tradicionales de impartir docencia. En este artículo se cuestiona la función de la Universidad y se analiza la problemática de la enseñanza universitaria y el nuevo rol del docente dentro el contexto socio-económico y tecnológico actual. En particular, se defiende el abandono de su función tradicional como transmisor principal de conocimiento para el alumno, en favor de un papel de mediador en el proceso de aprendizaje de éste, quien pasa a ser protagonista activo. Asimismo, se propone la incorporación a la función docente de objetivos en cuanto a actitudes. Estos objetivos perseguirían el desarrollo del llamado "espíritu universitario", entendido éste como una serie de valores que la Universidad debería poder transmitir a los estudiantes, independientemente del grado de aprovechamiento académico y de los conocimientos adquiridos por éstos en su paso por la institución

The use of virtual assistants is increasing every day, as a technological tool that is marketed as a necessity to assist in making our modern lives more efficient. Design and construction of the motion mechanism of an XY micro-stage for precision positioning
No full textA motion mechanism of an XY micro-stage is designed and constructed for precision positioning of light weight objects. A driving unit, which consists of two PZTs and a friction component made by permanent magnet, is mounted on the center of the stage base for driving the stage moving plate made by steel in the X- and Y-directions based on a friction drive. The moving plate is attached on the friction component by the magnetic force. Leaf springs are employed to guide the X- and Y-directional motions of the moving plate over a range of ±1 mm in both directions. The stage motion mechanism, which dominates the overall size of XY micro-stage, has a compact size of 24 mm (X) × 24 mm (Y) × 5 mm (Z). The basic performances of the stage motion mechanism have been investigated by experiments. © 2013 Elsevier B.V. [5-HT1A gene polymorphisms contributed to antidepressant response in major depression].
No full textVariability in antidepressant response is due to genetic and environmental factors. Among genetic factors, the ones controlling for availability of the drug at the target site are interesting candidates. Rs6295C/G SNP in the 5-HT1A gene (HTR1A) has been found to affect the expression and function of HTR1A. In fact rs6295C/G is in strong linkage disequilibrium with other polymorphisms of HTR1A suggesting that those functional effects could be associated with polymorphisms other than or together with the synonymous rs6295C/G. In the present study we examined the possible association of a panel of markers in strong linkage disequilibrium of HTR1A with SSRI/SNRI response in 137 Japanese major depression subjects followed for 6 weeks. We observed a significant association of better response to antidepressant in rs10042486C/C (P < 0.0001), rs6295G/G (P < 0.0001) and rs1364043T/T (P = 0.018) genotype carriers, independently from clinical variables. Furthermore minor allele homozygous carriers in all these 3 SNPs were associated with treatment response by various assessments such as HAM-D score change over time (P = 0.001), week 2 (P < 0.0001), 4 (P = 0.007), and 6 (P = 0.048) as well as response rate (P = 0.0005) and remission rate (P = 0.004).
