Testudinella zhujiangensis Wei, De Smet & Xu 2010
Testudinella zhujiangensis Wei, De Smet & Xu 2010 (Figs 6 C, 12–14) Redescription of trophi. Trophi malleoramate (Figs 12, 13). Frontal latero-ventral margins of rami with a large, quadratic and stout reinforced, caudally recurved alula (Figs 12–14: al). Median rami apophyses (Fig. 12 B: ra) weakly developed. Inner margins distal rami sections bearing 14–21 / 13–21 strongly webbed arched rami scleropili (Figs 12 B, 14 A: as). Frontal rami scleropili with fairly acute distal tip (Fig. 14 B: fs). Basal apophyses moderately developed (Fig. 13: ba). Fulcrum short with a distinct proximal opening frontally (Fig. 13: fo). Unci plates (Fig. 12 A: u) consist of 11–13 / 11–12 weakly curved and strongly webbed teeth. Each uncus has 3, occasionally 4, major teeth with moderately offset lanceolate heads. Minor teeth with lanceolate head bearing two minute lateral knobs at their base; the webbing almost extends up to the base of the heads. Crescent-shaped manubria are composed of a superimposed dorsal, median, ventral and small sub-ventral chamber (Fig. 12 B). Measurements. Colurella Bory De St. Vincent 1823
Colurella sp. (Fig. 5) Only a few specimens of this large and apparently undescribed Colurella species occurred in July 2008 at the artificial pond site on Qi’ao Island (Tab. 1), only once during four years of sampling. As our observations on this species are based on a single occasion only, and only insufficient specimen material could be studied, a critical evaluation of the taxonomic relevance of the characters is difficult. We therefore refrain from formally describing and naming the species, but give a brief description below, to facilitate future re-discovery and description. Colurella sp. can easily be confused with the morphologically similar C. sanoamuangae and C. ovalis sp. nov. It can be distinguished from C. sanoamuangae by its more rounded lorica, with ratios of length/height 1.53 and length/width 1.97, compared to about 1.7 and 2.4 in C. sanoamuangae (based on figures in the original description and specimens from Hainan Island), and especially by its wide u-shaped sinus at the posterior end of the lorica (dorsal/ventral view), compared to a peculiar tongue-shaped caudal projection above the foot aperture in C. sanoamuangae. It differs from C. ovalis sp. nov. mostly by the symmetrical, dorsoposteriorly slightly concave lorica, with wide u-shaped sinus over the foot aperture (dorsal/ventral view), and spread toes. Our earlier record of C. sanoamuangae from artificial ponds on Qi’ao Island (Wei & Xu, 2010) thus refers to this species. Measurements. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. <i>Colurella sanoamuangae</i> Chittapun, Pholpunthin & Segers, 1999 <p>(Fig. 10)</p> <p> This species was to date only recorded from the Oriental region, in Thale Noi Lake on Malay Peninsula of Thailand (Segers & Pholpunthin, 1997), in coastal peat swamps in the Phuket Province of Thailand (Chittapun <i>et al</i>., 1999; 2007; Segers & Chittapun 2001) and from Northeast India (Sharma & Sharma, 2005; 2014). We found it at three sites on Qi’ao Island (Tab. 1) in low number and at two sites in the Nandujiang River Estuary, Haikou, Hainan Province (sampled biannually, Tab. 1).</p> <p> <i>Colurella sanoamuangae</i> is characterized by the posterior end of the lorica forming a triangular projection (lateral view), that overlays the foot aperture as a tongue-shaped structure (ventral/dorsal view) (Chittapun <i>et al</i>., 1999). This seems to be a stable morphological feature, as far as can be judged from previous observations. Accordingly, a previous record under this name from Iran, with posteriorly rounded lorica (Reihan Reshteh & Rahimian, 2014), probably represents another as yet undescribed species (Jersabek & Leitner, 2013). According to our present knowledge, <i>C. sanoamuangae</i> is an endemic species widely distributed in the Oriental region.</p> <p>Measurements. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
