Mechanical Behavior of Large-Diameter Adjacent Shield Tunnelling Bridge Piles: A Case Study of Chunfeng Tunnel
No full textWhen a large-diameter shield crosses through bridge piles, stress and deformation of the bridge piles caused by tunnel excavation occurs. This is a an exciting topic of engineering research into the construction of subways. We considered an 15.8 m large-diameter shield machine made in China to excavate the Chunfeng tunnel as the background of our research. First, based on the previous engineering experience, reinforcement measures of the shield crossing the bridge piles were investigated. PLAXIS 3D finite element software was used to simulate the process of shield tunnelling through the piles of Hongling Interchange No. 1 Bridge. We analyzed the mechanical characteristics of the piles in the process of shield tunnelling through the bridge piles and evaluated the reliability of the reinforcement measures. Finally, combined with field monitoring data, the accuracy of the model and the rationality of the treatment measures were verified. This research considered a successful case of 15.8 m large-diameter adjacent shield tunnelling bridge piles. Analysis of the stratum and the mechanical behavior of bridge piles in the process of crossing provides a theoretical reference for engineering measures on similar projects in the future

François Cheng in his time : for a humanistic creation
No full textCette étude consiste à mettre en lumière la double dimension du temps chez François Cheng. Partant du principe qu’il est un homme de dialogue, on ne peut que remarquer sa situation particulière dans son époque. En effet, il est à la fois contemporain des grandes remises en cause révolutionnaires de l’humanisme littéraire et des voix comme celles d’Yves Bonnefoy ou de Philippe Jaccottet C’est ainsi que nous nous proposons, dans notre première partie, de mettre en parallèle l’œuvre poétique de François Cheng avec les diverses voix de la poésie française de la deuxième moitié du XXe siècle. Pour mieux cerner la place qu’il occupe dans cette époque et montrer le rapprochement avec ses contemporains, nous tâchons de retracer les mutations principales en ce qui concerne la méfiance envers les images, une redéfinition du sujet et un renouveau de la notion d’humanisme. La deuxième partie est centrée sur des analyses détaillées de l’écriture poétique chengienne dont le but est de mieux comprendre une poésie de l’élémentaire qui a souci de renouer le lien avec l’univers vivant. La troisième partie tâche d’éclairer le temps lui-même, qui est fondé sur le Vide et le Change. Habité par cette conviction, le poète conçoit sa création comme une Œuvre inachevable. A travers les analyses des thèmes traditionnels de la poésie occidentale comme la nuit ou l’amour, et de certains de ses usages (celui la sonorité et du rythme notamment), notre étude se propose d’interpréter la vitalité d’une démarche d’écriture qui rompt avec les conventions et ouvre la parole à un dynamisme certain.This study consists in showing François Cheng’s double dimension of time. Assuming that he is a man of dialogue, we can only remark his particular situation in his time. Indeed, he is a both contemporary of the revolutionary cause of humanism and the literary and of voices like Yves Bonnefoy or Philippe Jaccottet. Thus we propose in the first part a parallel study between the poetic work of François Cheng and the diverse voices of the French poetry of the second half of twentieth century. To better understand Cheng’s place in that time and show the comparison with his contemporaries, we try to trace the major changes regarding distrust of images, a redefinition of the subject and a revival of the concept of humanism. The second part focuses on the detailed analysis in Cheng’s poetry work to better understand a poetry of elemental who desire to renew the relationship with the world. The third part of our research seek to clarify his own time based on the Empty and the Change. With this conviction, the poet sees his creation as an unachievable Work. Through the analysis of traditional themes in Western poetry such as night, love, the sound and rhythm, our study is to interpret the vitality of a writing process who breaks with conventional and opens the speech to the dynamism
La « matière-émotion » dans À l’orient de tout de François Cheng
No full textCet article analyse le lyrisme critique dans À l’orient de tout de François Cheng à la lumière de la « matière-émotion ». L’objectif est de montrer que l’émotion suscitée au contact charnel avec la matière ne relève nullement d’un pur épanchement de l’intériorité, mais bien d’une résonance à la Voix cosmique. Cette interaction étroite entre le sujet et l’objet met, dans un premier temps, en cause la figure traditionnelle du sujet lyrique en faisant de lui une entité aux prises directes avec le monde. Dans un deuxième temps, à partir de la culture chinoise, notre article vise à mettre en lumière un chant où le moi, le monde et les mots sont indissociablement soudés.This article analyzes the critical lyricism in François Cheng’s À l’orient de tout in the light of “matter-emotion” with the purpose of showing that emotion aroused by carnal contact with matter is not pure internal flow, but rather a resonance with the sound of the universe. This close interaction between subject and object first challenges the traditional image of the lyrical subject, making them an entity in direct contact with the world. The second part, from the perspective of Chinese culture, focuses on a song in which the self, the world and words are inextricably linked

Après les deux Guerres qui ont ravagé le monde occidental, la poésie contemporaine connaît essentiellement un retour à l’ici, à ce grand réel à multiples facettes, dont la pierre fait partie. Ces poètes soucieux de notre rapport au réel, au langage et à autrui optent tous pour une écriture de l’élémentaire et veulent assumer le devoir assigné par le dernier Rimbaud d’« étreindre la réalité rugueuse ». La pierre, chose élémentaire, date du temps de l’Origine et permet aux poètes qui ont vécu la catastrophe de la guerre de retrouver la terre ferme et la confiance dans la parole poétique. En exaltant une grande variété de formes et de couleurs, les poèmes nous dévoilent le mystère de l’univers créé qui n’est autre que la transformation
Computational Frameworks for Subject-specific Prediction of Vertebral Fracture Risk
No full textThe full text of this item is not available at this time because the author has placed this item under an embargo until December 20, 2024.Aging leads to a significant decrease in bone mineral density (BMD), loss of muscle mass and strength, high risk for falls, and fractures. These musculoskeletal (MSK) changes significantly and negatively affect quality of life. Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease in adults characterized by natural bone loss. Currently, about 20 million Americans over the age of 50 have osteoporosis while the prevalence increased from ∼10 million to >14 million people in 2020. Osteoporosis-related fractures affect nearly 2 million Americans annually and 9 million worldwide. Vertebral fractures, the hallmark of osteoporosis, cause substantial back pain and disability. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) is the clinical gold-standard imaging technique for the estimation of 2D areal BMD (aBMD) as a surrogate for fracture risk. Quantitative computed tomography (QCT) provides a 3D measure of BMD and can more accurately describe bone heterogeneity and structure, addressing some of the disadvantages of DXA. When QCT is combined with finite element analysis (FEA) it can successfully be used to assess fracture properties of bones such as stiffness and failure loads. Besides bone properties, other can also affect the risk for fracture, including but not limited to spine curvatures and spinal loads. Skeletal muscle mass decline in older individuals can eventually result in altered spine curvature. Evaluation of spine loads can explain how loading on the various spine regions varies with physiological activities and over time, potentially leading to vertebral fractures. To address in vivo measurement challenges, MSK models can be developed to predict the loading of the intersegmental vertebral bodies during daily living activities.Biomedical Engineerin

No full textThis monograph addresses issues and debates that have arisen in Chinese, Japanese, and Western scholarly circles over the last sixty years concerning the exegesis, analysis, annotation and translation of Lu Xun's old-style poetry. The author discusses his approach to Chinese-English literary translation, arguing for the importance of the preservation of both mood (yijing 意境) and music (shenyun 神韵), criticizing the approach of translators who claim to present "plain and literal" versions in English, but in fact do not. The author's arguments are substantiated by his own translations, which are compared with those of other authorities, including William Jenner, former Professor of Chinese at the ANU and David Y. Chen, Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University. This book was awarded a research publication grant by the Chinese State Publication Bureau in 2017 (重磅｜2017年度国家出版基金拟资助项目名单出炉).
