A sturdy edition of eighty fables with good silhouettes (set off by small white fleck-marks within them) by Leclercq. The best of them for me are WL (29), The Ass and the Thieves (31), SS (47), SM (71) and The Cat, the Weasel, and the Rabbit (151). The last of these appears on the spine of both the book and the box. This is a hardbound book (hard cover)Language note: FrenchLa Fontain
L’œuvre de Chrestien Leclercq
Note:From 1675 to 1687, Father Chrestien Leclercq, a Recollect, evangelized micmac people of the Gaspe Peninsula. A part of the author's works, composed in New France, is untraceable at the present time. It concerns a Micmac dictionary and hieroglyphics, represented on note papers, which helped since the XVIIth century to make the micmac community literate. This hieroglyphic system, although altered to some extent, was practised by the Micmacs until the beginning of the XXth century. On returning to France, Father Leclercq published in 1691 New Relation of Gaspesia, a valuable document on the Micmac society of the XVII the century, and First Establishment of the Faith in New France, which refers to the history of the French colonial community and of the evangelization of Indians from the beginning of the XVIIth century by the Recollect. These two works make their author one of prominent historiographers of New France. […
Sequential Adaptive tailored Testing and Confidence Marking
Starting from the rasch model, the author explains how to take advantage in Confidence degrees given by the testee to concezive the starting rules, the branching rules and the stopping rules of an adaptive tailored testing. Note : These co,nsiderations have been deepened in a more recent publication : Leclercq (1982) "Confidence Marking. Its use in testing"
Mots clés : Leclercq, rituel, normes, mouvements sociaux, démocratie, BelgiqueABSTRACTCrises, Cérémonies and Narrative Accounts. Reflections on " The Dutroux Case "This text presents an anthropological interpretation of events related to what is known in Belgium as "The Dutroux Case". More specifically, by drawing a parallel between the episodes of this terrible incident and the Turner model, the author suggests that ritual action enables social actors to become aware of social crises and to look for their solution. Subsequently, basing his argument on Ricœur's work, the author argues that for many people ritual represents an answer to a question they cannot clearly identify.Key words : Leclercq, ritual, norms, social movements, democracy, Belgiu
Circular Communities: The circular value flower as a design method for collectively closing resource flows
In Circular Communities, pioneering, collectively supported initiatives that are aimed at closing resource cycles at neighbourhood level take a central position. They are all examples of initiatives that contribute to the transition to a circular economy. For the analysis of these different circular initiatives, the researchers – urban designer Els Leclercq and architect Mo Smit - developed a unique method: the Circular Value Flower method. This method helps to organize the collective closing of resource cycles (bio and tech materials, energy, water and nutrients) on a neighbourhood scale and provides insight into the added value (social, ecological, aesthetic, cultural and economic) that can be realized within the built environment. Circular Communities offers inspiration and lessons for integral sustainable interventions at the scale of the neighbourhood and ties in with the new Dutch Environmental Planning Act, which explicitly offers room for citizen initiatives and local commissioning in the Netherlands.Design AestheticsArchitectural Technolog
Erosive aggressiveness of collapsing cavitating structures
The erosive aggressiveness of idealized cavities collapsing on a flat surface is investigated by numerical simulation, employing the cavitation intensity approach by Leclercq et al (2017) as a measure of the local energy impact rate. We propose a more straight forward formulation of the cavitation intensity model and verify that it satisfies energy conservation requirements for the accumulated surface energy. Based on the cavitation intensity model, statistical aggressiveness indicators are proposed. The indicators account for the rapidness and frequency of the collapse events. The aggressiveness indicators are further applied to a NACA0015 hydrofoil surface.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Ship Hydromechanics and Structure
Osvaldo Guariglia has defended the thesis that the fundamental features of practical deliberation should be constructed taking the Aristotelian practical syllogism as a model. One of the central claims that the author affirms is that there is necessary connection between the acceptance of the premises of a practical syllogism and the affirmation of its conclusion. I shall prove that this thesis is implausible since it fails in offering an adequate conceptualization of the role played by the cost of error in the processes of argumentation oriented to decision making.Fil: Garreta Leclercq, Mariano Raul.
In May 2007, a round table was held at the International College of Philosophy in Paris on the theme of Pierre Magnard’s work Pourquoi la religion?. In a synopsis, the book’s author who is a specialist on Renaissance thought shows the speculative and practical issues of his approach to religion which manifests itself in the “march” of mankind in quest of their humanization. If religion, understood here in the singular, brings about new ties by making a contribution to the basis of social ties, it is probably because of its capacity to untie: “only religion truly brings together because it alone is capable of untying”. Jean Leclecrq presents the major themes of this book which gives the opportunity to have a first look and then undertake the three readings, accompanied by questions, which are proposed according to different and complementary perspectives by Bernard Bourgeois, Thierry Gontier and Christian Trottmann
Leveraging circular initiatives for systemic change in Argentina
In the context of the ongoing transition towards a more sustainable system, grassroots innovations, particularly Circular Initiatives (CIs), are emerging as crucial players, understanding Circular Economy as a promising pathway forward in this sustainability shift. Within this context, the Circular Value Flower (CVF) method was developed by Els Leclercq and Mo Smit during their experiences working with CIs in the Netherlands. The purpose of this project is to contribute to the development of the CVF by exploring its potential as a design method to support circular initiatives in Argentina while creating positive social impact. Argentina’s relevance in this project is twofold. Firstly, its rich landscape of initiatives and social movements is highly influential, shaping not only the prevailing system within the country but also across the entire Latin America. Secondly, this project seeks to amplify the voices of the Global South within the design discipline and the academic sphere of CE, areas predominantly influenced by voices from the Western Global North. As the CVF is designed for community engagement, this project centers on working closely with two Argentinean CIs (ReUSAR and Siempre Monte) with a decolonial and participatory approach. Given the complexity of this endeavor and the need to challenge traditional knowledge hierarchies, the overarching mode of thinking leading this project is Sentipensar (feel-think).In order to cast light, with a sentipensante mindset, on the potential of the CVF to leverage the participating CIs, four phases constitute this project: Reserch for Design, Redesigning the CVF, Action Research and Guideline Design. The first phase aims to define and situate key theoretical concepts, gain a deep understanding of the local context, analyze the current state of the art, and initiate my self-deconstruction as a researcher. The second phase, Redesigning the CVF, focuses on adapting the method and its tools to align with the project’s mindset and the Argentinean context. The design outcomes of this phase are named the Circular Reflection toolkit and Circular Value Map. These tools are designed to facilitate the participatory application of the CVF method during the third phase, which is the Action Research phase involving ReUSAR and Siempre Monte. After several weeks of active engagement with the CIs and numerous group and individual reflections, the primary insight discussed is the CVF’s potential to support Argentinean CIs by creating a space for pausing, reflecting, and engaging in meaningful conversations. These conversations center on addressing member alignment and both internal and external communication, which are among the primary uncovered issues faced by Argentinean CIs today. Moreover, tackling these challenges aligns with two of the three essential conditions for their success, as identified in the existing literature: shared expectations and networking. To enhance the accessibility of this research to other practitioners, the primary insights have been translated into a practical guideline referred to as the Tomate Un Mate guideline. This constitutes the fourth and final phase of this graduation project, the Guideline Design phase, with the hope that it will also serve as a starting point for further developments.Strategic Product Desig
An energy conservative method to predict the erosive aggressiveness of collapsing cavitating structures and cavitating flows from numerical simulations
A new technique is proposed in this study to assess the erosive aggressiveness of cavitating flows from numerical flow simulations. The technique is based on the cavitation intensity approach by Leclercq et al. (2017), predicting the instantaneous surface impact power of collapsing cavities from the potential energy hypothesis (see Hammitt, 1963; Vogel and Lauterborn, 1988). The cavitation intensity approach by Leclercq et al. (2017) is further developed and the amount of accumulated surface energy caused by the near wall collapse of idealized cavity types is verified against analytical predictions. Furthermore, two different impact power functions are introduced to compute a weighted time average of the impact power distribution caused by the cavity collapses in cavitating flows. The extreme events are emphasized to an extent specified by a single model parameter. Thus, the impact power functions provide a physical measure of the cavitating flow aggressiveness. This approach is applied to four idealized cavities, as well as to the cavitating flow around a NACA0015 hydrofoil. Areas subjected to aggressive cavity collapse events are identified and the results are compared against experimental paint test results by Van Rijsbergen et al. (2012) and the numerical erosion risk assessment by Li et al. (2014). The model is implemented as a runtime post-processing tool in the open source CFD environment OpenFOAM (2018), employing the inviscid Euler equations and mass transfer source terms to model the cavitating flow.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Ship Hydromechanics and Structure
