A Short history of the life of Andrew Jackson Workman
Typescript of an autobiography of Andrew Jackson Workman, copied by James Erickson in 1936 for the WPA historical records survey. Workman was born in Kentucky in 1824 and the family joined the LDS church in 1839. They went to Nauvoo and started for the west in 1846. Andrew joined the Mormon Battalion and was in California when gold was discovered. He later settled at Toquerville, Washington Count

Ken Workman, Saving the legacy: an oral history of Utah\u27s World War II veterans, ACCN 2070, American West Center, University of Utah
Transcript (15 pages) of an interview by Joel Calderon with Ken Workman on July 28, 2003. From tape number 592 in the "Saving the Legacy Oral" History ProjectWorkman was born in Vernal, Utah, and attended Carbon Junior College (now College of Eastern Utah) before being drafted into the army in December 1942. He was sent to Fort Custer, Michigan, for basic training and received additional training at various locations before being shipped to England in January 1944. His unit was sent to Wales to operate a petrol dump and run vehicle convoys. He landed in France on D-Day-plus-3 and joined the 3rd Army, 20th Corps. After the war Workman returned to the states for discharge and joined a Utah National Guard engineer combat group that was called up for active duty and stationed in Europe. He retired from the guard in 1982. Interviewed by Joel Calderon. 15 pages
