    Model order reduction by proper orthogonal decomposition for a 500 MWe tangentially fired pulverized coal boiler

    Reduced order models (ROMs) are constructed by proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and regression by Kriging and Radial Basis Neural Network (RBFN) for a 500 MWe tangentially fired pulverized coal boiler. POD is performed to extract low-dimensional basis vectors to reproduce 3-D distribution of reacting scalars with respect to the operation parameters of total secondary air (TSA) and burner zone stoichiometric ratio (BSR). The ROMs by Kriging and RBFN both reproduce the scalar fields within 6% averaged relative L2 norm error at three validation points in the parameter space. It is possible to reproduce a 3-D scalar field at any unexplored operation condition within a few seconds through parallel computation of the ROM. It allows fast evaluation of the effects of varying operation parameters in the design stage and real time response of a digital twin based on the ROM for smart operation and maintenance of industrial combustion facilities

    이 글은 갑오경장(1894)과 경술 국치(1910) 사이에 간행된 산학(수학) 교재류의 목록을 확인하고, 각 텍스트의 출판과 관련된 사항, 소장처, 이본 등의 서지적 정보와 함께 이 시기 산학 교재류의 국어사 자료로서의 의의를 언어 사용 상의 측면에 초점을 두어 정리하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이는 현대 한국어 태동기의 분과 학문의 도입 양상에 대한 연구의 일환인 한편, 학술 용어의 번역과 정착을 중심으로 이 시기의 한국어의 어휘 확장 양상을 확인하는 데에 필요한 기초 자료를 정리하는 작업의 한 부분이다. 본 연구에 앞선 산학(수학) 교재류에 대한 연구로는 산학 교재류의 서지 사항에 대해 기술한 강윤호(1973:187-199), 김봉희(1992:247-253), 한길준(2009), 오채환 외(2010) 등이 있고, 한국 수학사를 기술하면서 교재류를 함께 다룬 것으로 김용운·김용국(1982)와 이상구(2013)이 있다.This paper aims to make a whole list of the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire and summerize bibliographical data and linguistic characteristics in view of Korean history. In chapter 1, the author reviewed former studies which deals with the mathematics textbooks in the era of the Great Han Empire. In chapter 2, the author summerized bibliographical data of 45 volumes of 32 kinds textbooks. In chapter 3, the author described linguistic characteristics of the textbooks, especially focusing on writing systems, the use of Arabic numerals, horizontal writing, and presence of index or glossary

In particular, name disambiguation is required to allow accurate publication lists, citation counts and impact measures to be determined. This paper describes a graph-based approach to author disambiguation on large-scale citation networks. Using self-citation, co-authorship and document source analyses, AKTiveAuthor clusters papers, achieving precision of 0.997 and recall of 0.818 over a test group of eight surname clusters

    Effect of groundwater ions (Ca2+, Na+, and HCO3-) on removal of hexavalent chromium by Fe(II)-phosphate mineral

    A systematic study was conducted to investigate the effect of major groundwater ions (i.e., Ca2+, Na+, and HCO3-) on removal of hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) by an Fe(II)-phosphate mineral (i.e., vivianite). The batch experiments revealed that the second-order rate constant for Cr(VI) removal by vivianite with Ca2+ + CO32-(0.076-1.90 mM) and Na++ HCO3- (0.26-6.50 mM) was 1.5-5.2 times lower than that without these ions. The removal kinetics of Cr(VI) by vivianite was abruptly slowed down with the increased ion concentration, which showed their inhibitory effect on the reaction. The results of the geochemical modeling and density functional theory calculations showed that the presence of Ca2+ + HCO3 (-) and Na+ + HCO3- can form less favorable Cr (VI) species (i.e., CaCrO4(aq) and NaCrO4-) on the Fe-B site of vivianite surface, leading to the inhibitory effect observed in this study. Finally, the X-ray absorption spectroscopy results showed that reductive immobilization of Cr(VI) to Cr(III) occurred by structural Fe(II) oxidation of vivianite to amorphous mixed-valence Fe-phosphate via an inner-sphere complexation. The results suggest that the presence of Ca2+, Na+, and HCO3- in phosphorous-enriched iron-reducing environments may lower the remedial efficiency of Cr(VI) removal.

    Signaling mechanisms of μ-opioid receptor (MOR) in the hippocampus: disinhibition versus astrocytic glutamate regulation

    © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG. μ-opioid receptor (MOR) is a class of opioid receptors that is critical for analgesia, reward, and euphoria. MOR is distributed in various brain regions, including the hippocampus, where traditionally, it is believed to be localized mainly at the presynaptic terminals of the GABAergic inhibitory interneurons to exert a strong disinhibitory effect on excitatory pyramidal neurons. However, recent intensive research has uncovered the existence of MOR in hippocampal astrocytes, shedding light on how astrocytic MOR participates in opioid signaling via glia-neuron interaction in the hippocampus. Activation of astrocytic MOR has shown to cause glutamate release from hippocampal astrocytes and increase the excitability of presynaptic axon fibers to enhance the release of glutamate at the Schaffer Collateral-CA1 synapses, thereby, intensifying the synaptic strength and plasticity. This novel mechanism involving astrocytic MOR has been shown to participate in hippocampus-dependent conditioned place preference. Furthermore, the signaling of hippocampal MOR, whose action is sexually dimorphic, is engaged in adult neurogenesis, seizure, and stress-induced memory impairment. In this review, we focus on the two profoundly different hippocampal opioid signaling pathways through either GABAergic interneuronal or astrocytic MOR. We further compare and contrast their molecular and cellular mechanisms and their possible roles in opioid-associated conditioned place preference and other hippocampus-dependent behaviors.11Nsciescopu
