This is a pale species with the head and pronotum yellow and the elytron evenly dark orange. The basally broad and apically strongly narrowed median lobe (Fig. 2) is somewhat similar in shape to Desmopachria margarita Young, but the combination of a distinctively broad dorsal ramus and slender, pointed ventral ramus of the lateral lobe in ventral aspect is different from any other D. nitida species-group species.

Description. Measurements: TL = 1.6 mm, GW = 1.0– 1.1 mm, HW = 0.5–0.6 mm, EW = 0.3 mm, TL/GW = 1.5–1.6, HW/EW = 1.8–1.9. Coloration: Head and pronotum evenly yellow. Elytron evenly dark orange. Ventral surface of head, prosternum, head appendages, and pro- and mesolegs yellow, other ventral surfaces and metalegs darker orange. Male genitalia: Male median lobe in lateral aspect short, broadly curved, apical portion evenly curved, convergent to pointed apex (Fig. 1). Median lobe in ventral aspect very broad basally, abruptly constricted medially, apical portion narrow, apex pointed (Fig. 2). Lateral lobe relatively narrow in lateral aspect, apically bifid, ventral ramus curved, medially broadly expanded, apex narrowly pointed (Fig. 3), dorsal ramus in ventral aspect broad and apically truncate, in lateral aspect slender, sharply curved, and apically sharply pointed (Fig. 4).

Variation. One of the three specimens is lighter in color (possibly teneral).

Etymology. This species is named curseenae in honor of Dr. Kimberly A. Desmopachria kemptonae Miller and Wolfe, new species
Zoobank.org/ urn:lsid:zoobank.org:act: EBFEE7D5-D0F1-4F04-A3E4-7FC68A6C557C (Figs. 18–21, 69)

Type Locality. Venezuela, Barinas State, ca. 13 km SE Ciudad Bolivia, 8°19.394ʹ N, 70°28.238ʹ W, 173 m.

Diagnosis. Only male genitalic differences characterize members of this species. The median lobe in lateral aspect is straight to the apex, which is elongate and sharply pointed (Fig. 18). In ventral aspect, the median lobe is very broad basally, then abruptly constricted and apically narrowed to the sharply bifid apex (Fig. 19). The lateral lobe is also uniquely shaped with the dorsal ramus elongate, expanded medially and sharply pointed, and the ventral ramus is transversely broad and apically broadly rounded (Figs. 20, 21). Specimens are pale yellow with the head and pronotum evenly yellow and the elytron evenly light brown. The broad male median lobe that is apically strongly narrowed to a narrowly bispinous apex is somewhat similar to Demopachria nitidoides Young and D. margarita, but D. kemptonae has the median lobe straight in lateral aspect (Fig. 18), the ventral ramus of the lateral lobe broadly lobate, and the dorsal ramus pointed and curved mediad in ventral aspect (Figs. 20, 21).

Description. Measurements: TL = 1.3–1.4 mm, GW = 1.0 mm, HW = 0.5 mm, EW = 0.2–0.3 mm, TL/GW = 1.4, HW/EW = 2.0–2.1. Coloration: Head and pronotum evenly yellow. Elytron evenly light brown. Head appendages, legs, and ventral surfaces uniformly orange. Male genitalia: Male median lobe in lateral aspect broad basally, apical portion slender, straight, evenly tapered to sharp point (Fig. 18). Median lobe in ventral aspect very broad basally, abruptly narrowed medially, thereafter evenly tapered to sharply bifid apex (Fig. 19). Lateral lobe in lateral aspect broad basally, apically deeply bifid, ventral lobe short, apically rounded, dorsal lobe curved and apically sharply pointed (Figs 20); in ventral aspect moderately broad, apex of ventral ramus broad, apically broadly rounded, apex of dorsal ramus slightly curved mediad, narrowly rounded (Fig. 21).

Variation. Specimens vary in the intensity of coloration of the dorsal surfaces, possibly because some are more teneral than others.

Etymology. This species is named kemptonae in honor of Dr. Christine Kempton, MD.

Distribution. This species is known from a few localities in Venezuela (Fig. 69).

Habitat. According to label data, specimens were collected from a “large lagoon” and a “marsh.”

Type Material. Holotype in MIZA, male labeled, “ VENEZUELA: Barinas State 8°19.394ʹN, 70°28.238ʹW 173m ca. 13 km SE Ciudad olivai leg.
